Jazmine Sullivan Joins Reebok Step Forward Campaign
R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan and Reebok have teamed up for the launch of the new Step Forward Campaign which launched earlier this month. Step Forward with Jazmine Sullivan is a three-part series, co-created by Reebok and Bkstg, a new platform that connects artists and fans directly. The series allows fans to get closer to their favorite artists and celebrates the artists’ journeys of fearlessness.
Jazmine Sullivan hit up Live with Kelly and Michael earlier today to perform her single Masterpiece. The track is the latest to be released from her Reality TV album, and is one of my favorites. Jazmine turns in an incredible performance, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar. Masterpiece is truly a gorgeous song, one that would probably receive more recognition had it been sung by a more mainstream singer.
Singers Brandy and Jasmine Sullivan were both of hand Saturday evening to celebrate the 5th Annual BET Music Matters Grammy Showcase. The two R&B divas took to the stage together, but sadly did not perform. Both singers will be attending the Grammy ceremony tonight, Brandy as a presenter and Jazmine as a three-time nominee. Here’s hoping Jazmine finally walks away with a statuette. She’s been nominated eleven times in total.
Singer Jazmine Sullivan shocked her 90,000 loyal Twitter followers by announcing via the social network that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus from the music industry. The 23 year old Philadelphia native recently released her sophomore album “Love Me Back” and had been rumored to be embarking on a spring 2011 tour with fellow R n’ B singer Melanie Fiona. Whether that tour will still take place is up in the air, but what is not, are Jazmine’s feeling on why she says she needs a break.
The singer’s full statement can be read below.
“I’m making an official announcement that I am taking a break from music. I’m trying to figure out who I am…w/out a mike, paper or pen. I promised myself when it wasn’t fun anymore I wouldn’t do it. And here I am. I’m not saying I won’t ever sing again in my life bcuz I don’t believe that. But in this moment… rt now… I got some things to figure out. I love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. U have no idea how much u’ve inspired me and fed my ego. But the truth is that I have to believe in me whether you all do or not. And that is what I am looking for. That belief in myself. Me. I. I love us. Thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. Let us continue.”
Jazmine later deleted those tweets, though you can still see a screenshot of them here. It appears Jazmine may have had a quick meltdown and re-thought her decision- that- or her record label had her pull them. Whatever the case, a more thought out and truly official statement will probably come from Jazmine and her publicist in the next day or two.
