Jazmine Sullivan Performs ‘Masterpiece’ on Live with Kelly and Michael

JAZMINE SULLIVAN ON LIVE WITH KELLY AND MICHAELJazmine Sullivan hit up Live with Kelly and Michael earlier today to perform her single Masterpiece. The track is the latest to be released from her Reality TV album, and is one of my favorites. Jazmine turns in an incredible performance, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar. Masterpiece is truly a gorgeous song, one that would probably receive more recognition had it been sung by a more mainstream singer.

New Music: ‘Stupid Girls’ by Jazmine Sullivan

JAZMINE SULLIVAN STUPID GIRLS

Like Sevyn Streeter, while in New Orleans earlier this year for the Essence Music Festival, singer Jazmine Sullivan met up with NPR Music for a low-key performance of her new single “Stupid Girls,” which of all places, was filmed in a barber shop full of men.

“Stupid Girls,” a modern day anthem advising young women to look before they leap into relationships, was written by Jazmine, and described by the singer as “partially biographical.”

Jazmine Sullivan to Return Soon

JAZMINE SULLIVAN RELEASES NEW MUSIC VIA INSTAGRAM VIDEO

After a very lengthy absence from the music scene, singer Jazmine Sullivan is now ready to return and release new music. And just as Jazzy used social media to announce her hiatus back in 2011, so has she used it again to give fans a preview of what they can expect when she returns to take her rightful place at the top of the R&B charts.

With only the words “Something new,” Jazmine thrilled her fans late last night when she uploaded a video to Instagram which features a new track the Philly native has reportedly been working on.

However, Jazmine was quick to hop on Twitter and let fans know the song is not an official single- but simply something she has been tinkering around with.

“I just wanted you guys who’ve been patiently waiting on me to know I’ve been working,” Jazmine wrote. “That’s no official single tho. Just a song. My feelings,” she concluded.

Before her hiatus, Jazmine was a promising urban diva who scored 3 top ten R&B singles with her first album ‘Fearless.’ The album garnered Jazmine 7 Grammy nominations and to date has sold almost 600,000 copies.

Jazmine Sullivan is Back in the Studio

After taking a self-imposed sabbatical from the music industry, R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan says she is ready to get back to work.

The Philadelphia native sent out a tweet yesterday letting her 195,000 followers know she had recently returned to recording and has been putting in long hours at the recording studio.

Back in 2010 Jazmine shocked fans when she also used Twitter to announce her hiatus, citing industry politics for her decision.

Since then, several unreleased tracks from the singer have surfaced, including “Drive By (Always on My Mind),” which made its way online last summer.

As for when we can expect new music from Jazmine, she also made a point of letting her Twitter followers know that she is working at her own pace and will not be rushed by the record label, or the public.

Jazmine Sullivan Returns

It was just over a year ago that singer Jazmine Sullivan shocked her fans by announcing via Twitter that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus from the music industry. According to the 24 year old Philadelphia native, she needed to find out who she was without a mic, paper or pen.

Well apparently Jazzy didn’t discover much because girlfriend has reportedly been recording new music (thank God) every since her hiatus went into effect.

One of those new recordings is rumored to be “Drive By (Always On My Mind),” a single that leaked onto the internet earlier this week.

The track was reportedly co-written by Jazmine herself and samples the harmonies of the Flamingos’ 1959 hit “I Only Have Eyes For You.”

Give it a listen below and let us know what you think.

Jazmine Sullivan To Take A Break

Singer Jazmine Sullivan shocked her 90,000 loyal Twitter followers by announcing via the social network that she would be taking an indefinite hiatus from the music industry. The 23 year old Philadelphia native recently released her sophomore album “Love Me Back” and had been rumored to be embarking on a spring 2011 tour with fellow R n’ B singer Melanie Fiona. Whether that tour will still take place is up in the air, but what is not, are Jazmine’s feeling on why she says she needs a break.

The singer’s full statement can be read below.

“I’m making an official announcement that I am taking a break from music. I’m trying to figure out who I am…w/out a mike, paper or pen. I promised myself when it wasn’t fun anymore I wouldn’t do it. And here I am. I’m not saying I won’t ever sing again in my life bcuz I don’t believe that. But in this moment… rt now… I got some things to figure out. I love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. U have no idea how much u’ve inspired me and fed my ego. But the truth is that I have to believe in me whether you all do or not. And that is what I am looking for. That belief in myself. Me. I. I love us. Thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. Let us continue.”

Jazmine later deleted those tweets, though you can still see a screenshot of them here. It appears Jazmine may have had a quick meltdown and re-thought her decision- that- or her record label had her pull them. Whatever the case, a more thought out and truly official statement will probably come from Jazmine and her publicist in the next day or two.
