Aaliyah for MAC
Who says you can’t make a difference via social media? After a very lengthy campaign, fans of Aaliyah have finally convinced MAC to release a collection honoring the late R n’ B diva. Thursday evening the cosmetics giant announced plans to release an Aaliyah-inspired collection in 2018, some 17 years after the singer’s death.
Singer-actress Keke Palmer went the extra mile for Halloween this year, choosing to not only dress as the late singer, Aaliyah, but to also remake a portion of her Try Again video.
Keke shared pics of her transformation via Instagram, writing “@rennywasquez slayed this makeup and @CynthiaGlam slayed this hair. And a special thanks to #ScreamQueens wardrobe department (@LizzyBott) for remaking and slaying this epic Try Again costume. #HappyHalloween.”
Aaliyah Fragrance by Xyrena, a Tribute
Are you guys interested in an Aaliyah fragrance? Well, the late singer’s family hopes so, as they have teamed up with fragrance designer Xyrena to release a new designer scent in tribute to the beloved performer.
Simply titled Aaliyah, the fragrance is already available via Xyrena’s official website, and can be purchased for $64. “I grew up listening to Aaliyah’s music,” said Xyrena CEO Killian Wells. “As a huge fan, this is a very personal release for me and my company. We set out to create a fragrance to be cherished by Aaliyah’s fans and also introduce her to a new generation.”
Could a Aaliyah Mac Collection be on the Horizon?
In the wake of news that Mac Cosmetics would be releasing a collection inspired by slain Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, fans have attempted to mobilize to get a similar collection released in honor of late R&B singer Aaliyah.
Using the hashtag #AaliyahForMac, fans have taken to sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, in hopes of getting the attention of either Mac, or their parent company Estée Lauder.
Elise Neal Joins Wolverine 3 in Secret Role
Actress Elise Neal has joined the cast of Wolverine 3 starring Hugh Jackman. Elise tweeted the news to fans just moments ago, saying “Just booked the next Wolverine movie, super excited you guys.” The announcement comes just one day after former ER actor Eriq Le Salle’s casting was announced by Variety.
Lifetime has released another trailer from their upcoming biopic Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart. This extended look into the film, which airs January 23, features a bit more dialogue, mostly from Debbie Morgan who plays Toni’s Mother Evelyn, and Greg Davis Jr. who plays LA Reid.
This trailer is definitely a lot juicier than the last and looks well produced. Of course, you never know with Lifetime. Sometimes they nail it, and other times… not so much.
