According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former Dreamgirl has joined the cast of Assassination Nation, a coming-of-age thriller about four teenage girls who become the focus of worldwide media attention when an anonymous hacker leaks their personal information.

Anika Noni Rose Joins the Cast of “Power”

ANIKA NONI ROSE JOINS THE CAST OF POWERActress Anika Noni Rose is set to join the cast of Power when it returns for its third season next spring. Anika will reportedly play the role of LaVerne Thomas, a streetwise beat cop from Ghost and Tommy’s former neighborhood.

Anika’s arc is set to last throughout season three, which recently went into production. Other names reportedly coming on board for season three include Basketball Wives: LA star Drea Michelle, Queen Latifah and Jermaine Dupri.

Anika Noni Rose Lands Lead Role in New CBS Pilot


“Dreamgirls” actress, Anika Noni Rose, is the latest Brown Sista to secure an acting gig during this busy pilot season.

According to online reports, Anika will helm the new CBS civil rights drama “For Justice,” which is based on James Patterson’s debut crime novel “The Thomas Berryman Number.” The pilot is being written by “Law & Order” alum Rene Belcher and lensed by Selma director Ava DuVernay.

Anika Noni Rose’s New Role

According to Variety, actress and singer Anika Noni Rose is the latest cast member to be added to the line-up of the upcoming Stephen King mini-series “Bag of Bones.”

Anika, who recently finished up on a stint on CBS’s “The Good Wife,” will reportedly play the role of Sara Tidwell, a blues singer who haunts the starring character Mike Noonan, who will be played by Pierce Brosnan.

Anika’s IMDB profile shows the actress recently finished up work on three additional movies- “Skyler,” “As Cool as I Am,” and “Have a Little Faith,” which co-stars Laurence Fishburne and Mykelti Williamson.

Anika Noni Rose Lands a New Role

Actress Anika Noni Rose is set to return to the stage. The 38 year old actress will star alongside Patti LuPone, Neil Patrick Harris and Stephen Colbert, in the New York Philharmonic production of “Company.” Since her 2006 breakout role in “Dreamgirls,” Anika has gone on to appear in several other high profile productions, including the all black off-Broadway production of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” HBO’s “No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls” and “Princess and the Frog,” Disney’s first ever animated musical featuring a black princess.

“Company” will open on April 7th at Avery Fisher Hall and tickets are on sale now.

Essence Magazine has switched things up a bit and is featuring a new face on their January cover. It is none other than Dreamgirls actress, Anika Noni Rose. The Tony Award winning actress, singer, and dancer is also the voice of Disney’s first Black Princess. In the article, “The Princess Diaries,” Anika sits down with Hollywood moms and their daughters (including ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights” star Nicki Micheaux, and FOX’s “Glee” star Amber Riley) to chat about the ongoing need for positive Black female images in the media.
