Armani Unveils New Rihanna Video

Rihanna‘s latest promotional video for Emporio Armani made its way online today via the retailer’s official online presence.

Clad in Armani lingerie, the Baja beauty is seen writhing around in bed before taking a shower and throwing on a pair of… you guessed it… Armani jeans.

For those of you wondering if this type of promotion actually gets people to go out and buy the product, the answer would be yes.

Though no official numbers for Rihanna have been reported, Armani’s last spokesperson, actress Megan Fox, reportedly helped the company fledgling lingerie line see a 32% upswing in sales.

New Armani Pics from Rihanna

Rihanna is revealing a lot today. Besides a Flo Rida assisted remix of her hit single “We Found Love,” the 23-year old pop diva has also gifted her fans with two new images from the second wave of her Armani campaign.

Back in November the company revealed plans to shoot new images and a video for an upcoming spring and lingerie campaign.

Rihanna Shoots Armani Clip

Trying to wrap your head around the ‘tour de force’ that spells Rihanna is not an easy task. With five highly successful studio albums under her belt selling over 20 million copies, making her one of the best selling artists of all time and the youngest artist in Billboard charts history to achieve ten number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, her career has had the trajectory of a missile launch.

Little surprise then Armani chose Rihanna as the new face of Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear. Given her innate sexiness, strong spirit and magnetic persona, she’s the natural spokesperson for the edgy and confident Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear customer.

Standing on the shoulder of giants, with names like David and Victoria Beckham, Christian Ronaldo and Megan Fox previously mantling the role of Armani ambassadors, Rihanna has still managed to make it her own and brought something truly unique. Or as Mr. Armani puts it: “Rihanna is a great artist. Her personality, charisma and energy made it a pleasure to work with her. She perfectly embodies the contemporary and youthful spirit of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans”.

The campaign itself was shot in an garage in New York by the photographer Steven Klein, invoking the overall industrial and urban theme of this season’s collection. The campaign shots introduce a sultry Rihanna looking straight into the camera with a vintage classic car as a backdrop. All in black and white, emphasized by the debut of Rihanna in a white mop hair cut. Proud, confident and bringing her ‘A’ game, she explains where her oodles of confidence comes from “….I just feel sexy. My body is comfortable, and it’s not unhealthy, so I’m going to rock with it.”

As an important part of the new Campaign, a short film showcasing that natural sensuality, magnetic persona and burgeoning acting skills was produced. Shot by the director behind some of Madonnas biggest videos, Johan Renck, it combines traces of metropolitan storytelling, cops ‘n robbers movies with an ode to film noir, but with a lighter and ironic touch.

Our tale begins with Rihanna in the back seat of a car. Being given a leather bag through the window by a guard of sorts, she proceeds to undress… The rest? See for yourselves.

Armani Unveils Rihanna Ad Campaign

Last night various media outlets started making a big deal out of Rihanna’s Armani Jeans ad campaign being unveiled today at 10 am. Many of the publications swore the image/s would be groundbreaking and even the company’s official Twitter and Facebook pages started getting in on the act.

Naturally when something is super hyped you expect- well, something super.

Sadly, that is not the case with the first image to be unveiled. Now don’t me wrong- it’s not bad- but hey, it’s not that good either.

Here’s hoping that Armani’s next set of images from Rihanna’s shoot are more inspiring than the first.

FYI- those don’t even looking like jeans to me. If anything, it looks like the folks over at Armani went digging through Lil Wayne’s closet and swiped a pair of his jeggings. LOL

Alicia Teams Up With Armani

Alicia Keys and Armani are once again teaming up. Alicia has commissioned Armani to design a whole new wardrobe for the European leg of her “Element of Freedom” tour. The wardrobe will include several signature Georgio Armani and Emporio Armani looks, including military style jackets, a silk chiffon ball gown and a show stopping LBD in viscoe lame with a cascade ruffle. All the designs will have an extra touch of bling thanks to the many Swarovski crystals Armani embellished them with. A firsthand look at the designs will happen when Alicia kicks off the European leg of her tour in June. However sketches of the designs can be seen below.

Solange: Global Ambassador For Armani Jeans

Designer Georgio Armani announced today that singer-songwriter Solange Knowles would be their new Global Ambassador for Armani Jeans. Global Ambassador- sounds like a fancy way of calling the sista a spokesperson. This reminds me of the time my friend referred to her laundry room as a fabric care center (lol). Anyway- Solange’s duties as Global Ambassador include wearing the jeans while promoting her album during her European promotional tour, which is due to kick off in early September. Giorgio Armani said in a statement about the singer, “Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool fashion sensibility. Solange epitomizes this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, I Decided.
