Ashanti Readies New Single

A&E Networks 2013 Upfront

Despite pushing her “Braveheart” album back to 2014, R&B diva Ashanti still held a release party for the CD over the weekend, and just recently released her umpteenth single from the project.

During a recent Ustream session with fans, Ashanti previewed “Don’t Tell Me No,’ a track whose demo leaked almost two years ago- around the same time the album was officially set to be released.

As previously reported, “Braveheart” has been delayed for some two years now, and because of “clearances” and “legalities,” shows no real sign of ever reaching the market without the support of a major label.

In a question and answer session with college students earlier this year, Ashanti voiced her apprehension in signing with a major label, citing the dreaded 360 deal which requires artists to share ALL their profits with a label, including those earned via tours or outside ventures like endorsements.

Despite her many setbacks, Ashanti continues to assure fans her full album will see the light of day. “Don’t listen to any release dates given by the blogs,” she said via Ustream. “When we get ready to release the album I will post the news myself. Look for the album to feature all new singles, cover art and a brand new promo campaign.”
