Netflix Casts DeWanda Wise to Play Nola Darling in She’s Gotta Have It Remake
DeWanda Wise is set to play Nola Darling in the upcoming Netflix series She’s Gotta It. The 30-year old actress’ previous credits include stints on The Good Wife, Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit and The Mentalist. She also appeared alongside her husband Alona Miller in an episode of Underground and will join Sanaa Lathan in the upcoming Fox event series Shots Fired.
She’s Gotta Have It: Nola Darling and Her Men
As previously reported, Spike Lee’s 1986 hit film She’s Gotta Have It is officially coming to Netflix as a series. We were introduced to the new Nola Darling, played by actress DeWanda Wise in a previous video, and now, thanks to another promo video, we get to meet Cleo Anthony (Greer Childs), Lyric Bent (Jamie Overstreet) and Anthony Ramos (Mars Blackmon), the three men who will be playing her lovers.

Netflix has just revealed the first teaser for their upcoming series adaptation of Spike Lee’s breakout 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It. As previously reported, the re-imagining of the urban classic stars DeWanda Wise as Nola Darling, a Brooklyn-based artist struggling to define herself while juggling the affections of three different men.
Fox Sets Premiere Date for Controversial ‘Shots Fired’
Fox has made the premiere episode of their new event series, Shots Fired, available for viewing by the press. And while I have personally chosen not to watch it, I still find myself wanting to lowkey support the show because of my affinity for actress Sanaa Lathan and writer/producer Gina Prince-Bythewood.
