Singer Jill Scott is returning to television. The three-time Grammy winner will reportedly play the villainous Lady Eve in the upcoming CW drama Black Lightning. The DC Comics character is described as a funeral parlor owner who quickly becomes the adversary of the show’s protagonist (Black Lightning) as she is revealed to be the bridge between the underworld and a secret group of corrupt leaders.

What was a bit shocking, however, were some of the names being thrown about to play Olivia once the network agreed to the casting of a black woman.

Jill Scott Unveils Cover Art for New Album

JILL SCOTT WOMAN ALBUM COVERThree time Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Jill Scott is set to return to the music scene this summer with a new album and recently announced world tour.

Jilly from Philly plans to kick off her first tour in almost four years on June 26 at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. From there she’ll criss-cross the U.S. before heading over to Australia to perform at this year’s Soul Fest.

Also on the itinerary is the July 24 release of Jill’s fifth solo album Woman. Jill unveiled the album’s lead-off single Fool’s Gold last month, and used her Instagram page to unveil the cover art earlier today.
