Singer Mary J. Blige continues to take her soon-to-be ex-husband to task on U + Me (Love Lesson), the latest single to be released from her upcoming 13th solo album, Strength of a Woman. The track is produced by Brandon Hodge and is officially set to be released this coming Friday, February 17th.
Taraji P Henson and Mary J Blige Come Together for Epic Lip Sync Battle
As previously reported, Empire stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard will be appearing on the season one finale of Spike TV’s break-out hit Lip Sync Battle.
This will be the pair’s second performance of the season, but this time Taraji will be getting an assist from the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, singer Mary J. Blige.
It’s been a long time coming but the second single and video from Mary J. Blige’s Growing Pains CD is finally. “Stay Down” comes almost five months after the release of Just Fine and I am sure Mary fans are happy to see that her label, Geffen Records, has not abandoned the project. Growing Pains debuted at the top of the charts and has already sold a million and half units here in the US.
First Look: ‘Strength of a Woman’ Documentary
Another day, another artist forced to release a documentary to sell music that is otherwise uninspiring and lackluster. I hate to be a Negative Nelly, but remember when all it took to make you love or hate a song was listening to it? Remember when music used to capture your imagination and take you places? I do, and that’s why this documentary bandwagon artists have jumped on annoys me. Good music doesn’t require explanation. I don’t need to know what you felt while you were writing the song. I don’t need to see the pen and paper you wrote the lyrics on. I just need good music… sans the unnecessary and ineffectual hype.
Marrying Down Ruined Mary J. Blige’s Marriage
Mary J. Blige is finally revealing what led to the demise of her 12-year marriage to manager Kendu Isaacs. In a candid interview with friend and radio host Angie Martinez, The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul essentially blames marrying down for her decision to finally seek a divorce. “Unfortunately, he was my everything and you can’t make a person your everything,” Mary explained of reaching her breaking point. “I just gave him too much but I did it so he could feel comfortable in the company of my peers, so when he comes around he can say he’s not just Mary J. Blige’s Husband.”
