Video: I Tried by Melanie Fiona

MELANIE FIONA I TRIED VIDEOSinger Melanie Fiona is back with the visual to her latest single, I Try. The 32-year old singer-wongwriter uses her video as a platform to bring awareness to a multitude of social issues, including police brutality and domestic violence.

“It is important for me to channel the ideas and concepts I am passionate about into my music and my art,” Melanie recently told Billboard. “The video for ‘I Tried‘ is a tribute to the fight in which we all witness and experience both internally and externally in the world daily. I hope this visual sparks emotion, thought, dialogue, reflection, and ultimately, positive change.”

Melanie Fiona Debuts Full Single

Singer Melanie Fiona has finally unveiled the full length version of her new single ‘Cold Piece.’ Melanie originally gave us a taste of track about a week ago when she shared behind-the-scenes video of her recording session with fans.

Now, in conjunction with her opening act status for Beyonce at this weekend’s BET Festival, Melanie has graced us with the single in its entirety.

Give the old school, hip-hop flavored single a listen below and let us know what you think.

Melanie Fiona Preps New Single

Singer Melanie Fiona took to her YouTube page earlier today to give fans a behind the scenes glimpse at the recording of her new single ‘Cold Piece.’

Melanie has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on her new album- the follow-up to 2012’s severely underrated ‘The MF Life.’

Melanie is expected to give more details about the song and her third solo album when she appears on 106 & Park later this evening.

The Candian songbird is also expected to talk about her gig as opening act for Beyonce at this Friday’s ‘BET Experience’ concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Melanie Fiona Brings the Girl Power

Have you guys seen Melanie Fiona’s new video for her single “Watch Me Work?” If you not, you are missing what I consider the singer’s best visual to date.

Melanie took what would have probably been just another generic song from her “MF Life” album and turned it into a girl power anthem thanks to integrated clips from such iconic films as “Faster Pussycat Faster,” “Death Proof,” “Foxy Brown,” Thelma & Louise” and many others.

FYI- If you have somehow never managed to see “Death Proof,” please run out and rent it ASAP.

Melanie Fiona Shows Off Cover Art

Canadian songbird Melanie Fiona has just unveiled the cover art for sophomore album “The MF Life.”

If it seems like you have been hearing about this project forever it is because you have. The album’s lead-off single “Gone and Never Coming Back” was released back in 2010. Unfortunately, after it failed to live up to label expectations, SRC Records decided to shelve the entire album indefinitely.

It was only after the second single, “4am” was released, did Melanie finally inform her fans that “The MF Life” would indeed finally see the light of day.

Now with an official release date of March 27th, Melanie says she is ready to hit the road and fully support her new project. Hopefully the public will do the same.
