In Case You Missed It: Naturi Naughton Won Her First NAACP Award
Did you guys know Naturi Naughton won her first NAACP Image Award last week? I personally had no idea until I ran across photos earlier today on Wire Image. Naturi won for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role of Tasha St. Patrick on the hit Starz drama Power. Her category was presented the day before the show’s live telecast at an Awards Dinner, which is probably why I missed it.
Hosea Chanchez Directs Naturi Naughton in ‘Ruth’
During her downtime from filming Power last season, actress Naturi Naughton teamed up with Hosea Chanchez (The Game) to co-star in the independent film Ruth. The heartwarming family drama stars Chanchez as a single father (James Jones) raising his teenage daughter (Ruth) in the economically impoverished city of Detroit. With his daughter dreaming of becoming a ballerina one day, James eventually makes a decision that will likely change their lives forever.
Nature Naughton Joins Ensemble Cast of ‘Step Sisters’
Naturi Naughton has joined the cast of the upcoming Broad Green comedy, Step Sisters. The Power actress is the latest name to be added to an ensemble cast that already includes Megalyn Echikunwoke (House of Lies), Nia Jervier (Dear White People), Marque Richardson (All the Way) and Eden Sher (The Middle)
Former 3LW member Naturi Naughton played a Playboy bunny on an episode of the AMC original series “Mad Men,” and now she is set to do the same in a pilot for NBC that focuses on the 1960’s heyday of the famed Playboy nightclubs.
According to Variety, Naturi has been cast in “Playboy” and will be joined by actress Amber Heard. Naturi will play the role of Brenda, a model who aspires to be the first black Playboy centerfold.
NBC picked up the pilot in January and it is set to be an hour long drama should it actually make the cut. Chad Hodge (“Tru Calling”) penned the script and exec produces with Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Twentieth Century Fox TV and Imagine TV are producing.
