Fox Cancels ‘Shots Fired’
Shots Fired has been canceled by Fox. The provocative drama about the shooting of an unarmed teen in a small southern town will not be returning for a second season. Starring Sanaa Lathan and Stephen James, the show was originally added to Fox’s mid-season lineup and billed as a nine-episode event series.
Sanaa Lathan Stars in American Assassin
As previously reported, actress Sanaa Lathan is set to co-star alongside Dylan O’Brien, Michael Keaton and Shiva Negar in the upcoming Lionsgate film American Assassin. With an official release date of September 15th, the studio is kicking off promo early, having just unveiled the first trailer and several character posters.

Fox has made the premiere episode of their new event series, Shots Fired, available for viewing by the press. And while I have personally chosen not to watch it, I still find myself wanting to lowkey support the show because of my affinity for actress Sanaa Lathan and writer/producer Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Actress Sanaa Lathan Hits the Club Scene
After several months of filming Shots Fired in Atlanta- actress Sanaa Lathan is finally back in Los Angeles and enjoying the city’s robust nightlife. The 44-year old beauty was spotted by the paps earlier this week leaving the Catch Nightclub with several girlfriends. Sanaa’s downtown however will be short lived as she’s presently set to start shooting on several new films- including The Black Macbeth and American Assassins– which co-stars Taylor Kitsch and Michael Keaton.
Sanaa Lathan Joins American Assassin Cast
Actress Sanaa Lathan has booked another gig. According to CBS Films and Lionsgate Entertainment, Sanaa has been cast to play alongside Dylan O’Brien and Michael Keaton in the upcoming political thriller American Assassin.
Shots Fired Starring Sanaa Lathan Coming to Fox this Spring
Fox TV held their Upfront press even yesterday where they previewed most of their upcoming shows for the media, including their 10-episode summer event series, Shots Fired, starring Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James and Helen Hunt.
Sanaa Lathan to Star in Fox Event Series “Shots Fired”
Sanaa Lathan’s upcoming Fox event series officially has an air date and a name. Shots Fired will follow the dramatic events of a racially charged shooting of a white teen by a black police officer in a small town in Tennessee. The series is written and produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood and her husband Reggie Rock Bythewood.
Via press release, David Madden, the President of Entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, said “Gina and Reggie have crafted a profoundly moving portrayal of a timely and sensitive issue that pervades our culture at this very moment. This is not only an important story to tell, but also an explosive mystery-thriller.”
Actress Sanaa Lathan has officially launched her own foundation. The self-titled Sanaa Lathan Foundation is an organization, that according to its mission statement, is dedicated to helping young women transition from foster care to adult independence.
According to Sanaa, as girls age out of the foster care system, they often find themselves alone and with few resources. “That is where my foundation comes in,” she recently NPR. “We assist young women in furthering their education, acquiring job skills and employment, even housing if needed.”
