Actress Sanaa Lathan took to social media earlier today to unveil the official poster for her latest film The Perfect Guy, which co-stars Morris Chestnut and Michael Ealy.
The psychological thriller opens September 11, and is expected to get a similar roll out as Think Like a Man and it’s sequel, which held online giveaways and in theatre meet and greets to boost opening week ticket sells.
Just days after wondering what Sanaa Lathan has been up to, we have our answer. She, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut have been low-key shooting a romantic thriller for Sony/Screen Gems titled The Perfect Guy.
I actually gave a small synopsis of the film in my previous post, but had no idea the project had wrapped shooting until the trailer landed in my inbox last night.
Sanaa Lathan is covering the latest edition of Kontrol magazine. The 43-year old actress is super hot right now, having scored a massive hit with her most recent film The Perfect Guy. Sanaa quickly followed up that success by landing two new roles, one in the Fox mini-series The Incident, and the other as the lead in the film adaptation of Omar Tyree’s book Flyy Girl.
Sanaa spoke to Kontrol about her continued success, and how she manages to stay working despite the lack of opportunities for black actresses in Hollywood. She also spoke about the rumors surrounding a supposed sequel to Love & Basketball. Check out a few choice excerpts below, as well as her photo shoot.
Emotional by Sanaa Lathan to be featured on The Perfect Guy Soundtrack
Sanaa Lathan can sing. Who knew? “The Perfect Guy” actress stunned fans late last night when she unveiled her first single, Emotional, via her Facebook page.
The track features rapper Def Loaf and will appear on the soundtrack to her latest film, which according to published reports, topped Friday’s night’s box office.
Sanaa collaborated with producer Details (Drunk in Love) and said via Instagram “Life can be amazing when you step outside your comfort zone sometimes and say yes. Who would have thought I’d have a single out. It tickles me pink.”
Actress Sanaa Lathan is covering the October/November edition of Today’s Black Woman Style Report.
I had no idea this magazine was still in circulation, or that’s its title wasn’t simply Today’s Black Woman.
Whatever the case, Sanaa has landed the cover and of course uses her interview to promote her new film The Perfect Guy, which co-stars Fox hotties Michael Ealy (The Following) and Morris Chestnut (Rosewood).

The soon to be 44-year old stunner is gearing for the release up her new film The Perfect Guy, which hits theaters on September 11, and co-stars Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut.
In her interview, Sanaa called this the best time in her life and her career, and says despite getting older, the roles haven’t slowed down and neither has her desire to expand on the types of characters she plays.
Actress Sanaa Lathan unveiled her new 60’s inspired hairstyle on Instagram last night, while simultaneously throwing in a bit of promo for her upcoming film with Michael Ealy (The Following) and Morris Chestnut (Rosewood).
The three powerhouse actors will appear in The Perfect Guy this fall, and are rumored to be shooting the cover of a very popular magazine, which my money says will most likely be Ebony or Essence.
While enjoying my advanced preview of several Fox shows (which won’t be available to the public until they air in the fall) I discovered that actress Gabrielle Dennis, best known for her role as Janay on The Game, has landed a co-starring role in the new drama Rosewood, which stars The Perfect Guy actor Morris Chestnut.
Gabrielle plays Pippy, sister, and personal assistant to her brother, Beaumont Rosewood Jr., a private pathologist who uses wildly sophisticated technology to help Miami PD solve crimes no one else can.
It’s official, guys ! Code Black Entertainment has acquired the rights to author Omar Tyree’s Flyy Girl trilogy, and have brought in actress Sanaa Lathan to take on the lead role of Tracy Ellinson.
Via press release we also learned that Sanna will act as executive producer of the film, and that Precious screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher has been tapped to pen the script.
“So many people have grown up on this series and I’m looking forward to bringing Tracy Ellison’s story to life through film, Sanaa said in her official statement. “It’s my hope to continue to help bring diverse stories to the big screen.”
