Tracee Ellis Ross Recreates Work that Body Video

Tracee Puts Her Spin on Her Mom’s 1981 Work that Body Video

work that body videoTracee Ellis Ross has recreated the video for Work that Body, the 1981 single recorded by her mother Diana Ross.

Those of you old enough will remember the early 80’s as the absolute height of the aerobics fitness craze. It gave actress Jane Fonda a much needed career boost, and spawned such iconic tunes as Olivia Newton John’s Physical.

Diana’s Work that Body video, recorded when she was 36 and already the mother of three, added to the craze, as well as spawning another hit for Ross to add to her ever-expanding collection.

Tracee Ellis Ross Talks ‘Black-ish’ with Elle

TRACEE ELLIS ROSS ELLE WOMEN IN TV 2015 (1)

Actress Tracee Ellis Ross, star of ABC’s family comedy “Black-ish,” is featured in the February issue of Elle magazine, which celebrates 2015’s most note-worthy ‘Women in TV.’

Tracee, whose last television role was in the short lived BET comedy “Reed between the Lines,” says taking on the role of anesthesiologist Rainbow ‘Bow’ Johnson was a no-brainer, citing the opportunity to work alongside Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishburne as her main reason for taking the part when it was offered to her.

Tracee Ellis Ross’ New TV Gig

Want more Tracee Ellis Ross? Well, here she comes! According to published reports, the 39-year old actress, who can currently be seen starring in the BET comedy “Reed Between the Lines,” is set to co-star in the NBC pilot “Bad Girls,” an adaptation of the British drama of the same name.

Ellis will play the part of Rachel, a high-powered business woman serving time in federal prison for selling phony mortgages.

So, how will Tracee shoot two prime time shows should “Bad Girls” be picked up? Well, she might want to ask Coby Bell (Jason Pitts) of “The Game.” For a period of time Bell was appearing on both “The Game” and USA Network’s “Burn Notice.”

I believe the shooting schedule of cable shows is drastically different than network shows. As a matter of fact, I think they are the complete opposite so as not to compete with one another.

Whatever the case, after a long hiatus from TV, Tracee seems to be back with a vengeance.

Tracee Ellis Ross Covers Vibe Vixen

“Reed Between the Lines” actress, Tracee Ellis Ross, is covering the latest edition of Vibe Vixen. The 39- year old actress, who is also covering this month’s edition of Upscale Magazine with co-star Malcolm Jamal Warner, dishes on her new show, upcoming projects and why she’s not buying into the “black women can’t find a good man” propaganda.

Tracee on her role as both actress and producer on “Reed Between the Lines”
I wouldn’t say difficult, but it’s definitely makes for a long day. But it is the kind of full plate that I adore. I adore this kind of work and it’s very rewarding. The producer role very much plays into the kind of person I am. In the evolution of my career it is a really exciting step for me because I am the kind of creative person that has a real opinion about the kind of images that I want to portray and want in the public in general. So having a seat at the table with the many voices that is part of the collaborative art of television is really and exciting and wonderful for me.

Tracee on how her fashion style makes it’s way into the characters she play:
It’s stuff that’s been found out and about. The way I went about Joan and Carla is I always ask myself who this woman is. Every once in a while people say Carla is so much like Joan, and I’m like, ‘People, Tracee plays both people.’ So what you’re seeing that’s the same between Carla and Joan is not Carla being like Joan, but it’s Tracee. Tracee was Joan and Tracee is Carla. It’s so funny people don’t understand that, it makes me laugh.

On whether “The Cosby Show” comparisons have hurt her new show:
I can’t get invested in whether it hurts the show or not. The beauty of being on BET in this day and age is that on other network they do two episodes and they pull a show from television. Sometimes that’s the greatest thing, and sometimes it just never had a chance to grow. With BET, we did 25 episodes and we’re getting a chance. It’s really wonderful working with a network that wants your show and is behind your show. The audience asked for this kind of show, BET listened and they went out and have gotten behind our show. On other networks, I don’t know if that always happens.
Tracee on why she doesn’t believe black women are doomed simply because they are single:
I don’t think anybody’s doomed if they’re single. The only thing that dooms you is if you’re not willing to stretch outside of your comfort zone to try different things

Meagan & Tracee Attend “Vanities” Gala

Actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Meagan Good were on hand last night for the Vanity Fair And Juicy Couture “Vanities” 20th Anniversary party, held at the Siren Studios in Hollywood, California.

The star-studded fundraiser, which was also attended by Ali Larter, Hayden Panettiere, Stacy Keibler and many others, will donate proceeds from the event to “The Descendants” actress Shailene Woodley’s “All it Takes” charity.

As for Tracee and Meagan, Tracee recently won an NAACP Image Award for her portrayal of Carla Reed on the BET original series “Reed Between the Lines.”

Ciara, Tracee, Garcelle & More

Today’s random celebrity sightings post consists of some of my favorite brown sistas. From Janet Jackson to Melyssa Ford, we have Black Women from all walks of Hollywood life covered. First up however is Keyshia Cole who held her album release party last night. Keyshia is sporting a new shorter do that I really like and it reminds me quite a bit of Rihanna’s new shorter style. Hopefully both these ladies will usher in a less in more look for celebrity sistas when it come to their hair.
