Angela Bassett Gets A Star On Walk Of Fame

Actress Angela Bassett was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame today. Angela first came to prominence back in 1992 when she portrayed singer Tina Turner in her biopoic, “What’s Love Got To Do With It”, a film that also brought Angela her first Academy Award nomination. Since then Angela has appeared in more than 20 films and can presently be seen starring as Brenda, in Tyler Perry’s new film, “Meet The Browns”.

Also on hand to help Angela celebrate her big moment were actor Forrest Whittaker, who directed her in “Waiting To Exhale”- and her husband, actor Courtney B. Vance and their twins.

    Congratulations to her! She is so deserving. Some people just have the IT factor. I love to watch her act. She owns her character. I had no Idea she was married to Courtney B. Vance. Nor did I know she had twins (I’m ashamed)

    This honor is well overdue. Angela is a woman of STYLE, GRACE, BEAUTY and CLASS. She epitomizes how all of our Sistas should carry themselves. Not only the 9 to 5 women but also the ones in The Entertainment business. They should realize they don`t have to walk around HALF NAKED in order to get noticed and make every man want them… Ms. Angela Bassett, truly a REMARKABLE woman…

    Well said Terence…….. It is such a pitty that more of our sisters dont know the art of being sexy without being half naked. I love Angela she is so elegant and has more than earned her star.

    The only reason I could think of someone else carrrying her child is so she could keep working. I’m sure she and her husband thought it out carefully. As much as it made me fat and hurt to push her out I wouldn’t want anyone else carrying my daughter. to each his/her own,I guess.

    Congratulations to her!
    She deserved one before whatever committee does it bought one for the other (lesser) stars.

    I mean, Ryan Seacrest, had a star before Angela Bassett!

    @dana, @iris, @mo’starr

    I just looked her up on wikipedia:

    “The children were carried by a surrogate mother after Bassett had a seven year battle with infertility.” She had only been married 8 years–so she was trying!

    Likely, she couldn’t carry a pregnancy to term. BTW, she is now 49.

    She is my favorite celebrity. She has TWO degrees from Yale. That’s sooo sexy… And asides from the degrees, I think she is the most beautiful woman in the media. (You know how young ladies still go crazy for Denzel…)

    Angela Basset is a great role model, and like Shell said, she is sexy without being half naked. She also showed an incredible body in the Tina Turner movie, made working out so popular again.

    I just saw her in Meet the Browns (Which my family dragged me to…) and while it isn’t my kind of film, she’s a wonderful actress, and she made it better to me. Congratulations to her on her star!

    I’m very happy to see that Angela Bassett is getting her own star because she really should have one in recognition of her wonderful acting over the years.
