Ashanti Joins ‘Army Wives’ Cast

Ashanti isn’t letting the uninspired state of R&B music keep her from making a living. The singer/songwriter turned producer and actress is looking to television to reinvent her career, and has just landed a plum role on the Lifetime drama ‘Army Wives.’

Now in its seventh season, the show is looking for a little pick-me-up and has called on Ashanti, along with Torrey DeVitto and Elle McLemore to provide just that.

Ashanti will play Latasha Durant, a mother of three who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis. The character is described as a “strong-willed and determined survivor who is sexy and knows how to keep her husband happy…. and in line.”

Hmmm… I guess we’ll just have to tune in to see what that means.

Look for ‘Army Wives’ to return to the air in the spring of 2013.

  1. Congratulations are in order….I swear this chick just keep gringin…building her brand, empire and legacy.

  2. Ashanti is smart. She started her own production company years ago and started taking her future into her own hands. She’ll always find a way to pay the bills because at her heart she is a true business woman.

  3. Ok, ok, good for her. Hope her role is a good one. I really liked that show. I haven’t watched it since last year, though, so I don’t know how good it still is, but I’ll start tuning in again.

  4. I thought she should’ve been in Sparkle too!! Congrats Ashanti!

  5. No wonder why someone said they spotted her at the Charleston International airport here in Charleston SC.
