Ashanti Kicks Zombie Butt

Ashanti Singer Ashanti has apparently put her musical career on hold to protect us all from flesh eating zombies. As many of you already know, Ashanti has been racking up acting credits since she released her last album, Concrete Rose, in 2004. Since then she has starred in The Muppet’s Wizard Of Oz (2005), Coach Carter (2005), and John Tucker Must Die (2006). Keeping the streak going, Ashanti will next appear alongside Milla Jovovich in this fall’s Resident Evil: Extinction.

Ashanti will play a character named Betty, one of several femme fatals out the rid the world of zombies who prey on the flesh of the living. Sounds exciting doesn’t it?

Check out a still of Ashanti from the movie below, and note how the sista is apparently kicking zombie butt and yet never manages to mess up her hair, only a sista could do that… lol.

  1. I love how Ashanti is still proving the naysayers wrong.

  2. I hope she gets better roles. At least we still see her from time to time. I hope a door opens up for her soon. I don’t want to trash her, b/c before some of our new singers arrived, we were jaming to Ashanti 😉

  3. I’m glad to see her coming back in a “somewhat” full spring. She seems like she could turn out to be a good actress than singing…I only loved her first album though. Still, I think she’s cool.

  4. I STILL love ashanti; i think she’s really talented even though plenty of others may beg to differ, the girl can really sing and write, and now she’s branching off into acting, which will only lead to even more opportunities so good for her.

  5. I am not her big fan but always root for someone who wants to try something new. We saw lots of singers who try the support role and made it outstanding like LL Cool J in Halloween H20 and Deep Blue Sea or even Brandy in I still know what you did last summer.

    Wish her the best.

  6. I just wish the best for her. She’s had some hard times and she seems to still be afloat. Good luck Ashanti!! 🙂

  7. Good for her. I hope she follows in the steps of Will Smith, Queen Latifah, Ice Cube and LL Cool J. Take the smaller roles to build your craft in the acting World.

  8. I love Ashanti. Good luck to any sista doing their thing. Oh, and I love that new jam she has out with Nelly. I think it is called “switch”. You go girl.

Ashanti is nothing but a washed up singer who could never sing. PPL think she’s sweet and nice but I think she comes off very fake and annoyingly loud! Her singing is horrible and her acting is even worse. I like to see our black sistas succeed but only when she is actual talented and strong.

Wow no disrespect but i think ashanti has a beautiful personality she is a bubbley outgoing type of gurl i think we need more people like this in the music industry im tired of seeing the same ol’ same female artist’s who’s personality is dry, they act like they scared to laugh or just come out and say somethin’ crazy everybody is not sophisticated all the time (ACT A FOOL)

  11. She was cool in Coach Carter but other then that anything else she’s been in one the big screen or on tv she’s sucked in.

  12. Back in 2003 I was kinda hattin’on Ashanti because I didnt think she desserved all the praise she was getting, since that time I have seen some really awful R&B/Pop singers come and go. I can now appreciate her a little more. She is not a powerhouse singer but she can sing a song and, it’s usually a straight up R&B joint that is soulful. Her acting is pretty impressive. I could see her with a career on film. She is also a very pretty girl who only needs eye shadow, mascara, and lip gloss to look gorgeous. Like most black women.

You were the only one that commented on this topic that had to be a hater. We are talking about Ashanti not Beyonce. Besides Beyonce better fit the description of what you are trying to describe Ashanti as. There are other topics where you can talk about Beyonce please go there and do it because right now it’s about Ashanti. :hater:
