As Ashanti prepares to release her 5th solo CD, the singer is hitting the promotional trail hard to see to it that “The Declaration”, hitting record store shelves tomorrow June 3rd, is her biggest to date. On March 12th the singer taped a concert especially for Walmart’s “Soundcheck” concert series which is streamed online. Along with past hits, Ashanti performed her latest single “The Way That I love You” and one of my favorite tracks from the new album, Girlfriend.

Wow…Ashanti seems determined to make it bigger than before. These days I have been seeing her all around and it shows just how much work she’s putting into her projects this time around. She is trying to step her game up and that is wonderful. I wish her much luck and success. I know the business is very hard and competitive.

I wanna see her win so bad but I can’t get past how local she comes off on stage…I mena she should have put it all into it this go around because she should be headlineing by now and she’s up there looking like she did years ago when she first performed Foolish…I feel that she is more Mary than Keyshia simply because of the records and the pain she can put off in her records but she just stands in one part of the stage holding her hand and I want to vibe with her more. Still Lovher though.
It sucks that the tide turned so abruptly on Ashanti, that everyone accuses of her being a hack. She’s a pretty girl with a pretty voice, who obviously has the songwriting skills to back it all up. I hope people give her a chance again.
I am so feeling that song.I love this girlfriend track just like I love “The way that I love you ” track.Ashanti is definitely growing as an artist.I’m just speaking from how her new tracks sound.I love the beat and lyrics to Girlfriend..
this chick is like a hillary she dont know when to throw in the towel.. she needs to hang up the mic.. all that hollering and no singing. she needs to take more vocal classes and if your going to perform live leave the lip singing track @ home… on that song ” the way that i love you”i can hear her double singing along with her butt so she wont go off pitch.. im sorry girl but your team need to keep if real with you. lady bey has ended your career.

Ashanti more Mary than Keyshia? Because of pain? What pain? Ashanti in no way shape or form can put emotion into song like Mary. Mary is natural, she comes from the heart. Same with Keyshia. Ashanti don’t have that type of voice. She tries to go there but always fall short. Like someone else mention, she always nervous and like she is trying to hard.
Sounds good. I’ve heard her do worst so this by far is one of those good performances. And I absolutley love the song.
I think Ashanti sounds good. The album is really nice and i would recommend it to anyone who asks. people are always talking. Back in the day people used to say Mary couldn’t sing live and they would criticize her for the remakes. Now, they want to say she is the best thing. Don;t get me wrong I like Mary, people are just phony. Keyshia can’t sing live to me. Her songs on tracks are good, but she is not on point singing live. Ashanti is not the best, but she isn’t the worst. her vocals have improved alot from what I heard before.
