Beauty on a Budget

We all desire soft, supple, and smooth skin. Hydrated skin makes us look and feel healthier. Moisturizers rehydrate and replenish skin’s natural radiance. Using moisturizers daily will maintain skin’s natural, healthy glow. Moisturizers and facial creams improve the look and texture of dry skin by filling in the spaces between the outermost layers of the skin. They also serve as a barrier to keep moisture in the skin’s deeper layers. If skin is constantly exposed to wind, heat, cold, pollution or sun, skin should be conditioned daily.

Skin receives some of its moisture from the air. When the humidity is lower, as it is during winter, it is important to seal moisture into the skin. This is why most moisturizers contain water that recreates our natural barrier.

Get the Look: Nude Lips

A sexy yet subtle nude stiletto can be the perfect staple to a wardrobe bursting with color and personality, when it comesto makeup the nude lip has the same subtle but sexy effect.

Nude lips are perhaps the most versatile look that a woman can wear. A barley-there lip color is perfect for all skin tones and coordinates with all pieces of fashion.

How to create a perfect nude lip:

When applying your liquid or cream foundation throughout your face, pucker up and apply your foundation over your lips. The foundation pigment acts as a flesh-toned base.

Gently line your lips with a flesh toned lip liner, blend the lip liner and foundation by pressing your lips together.

Apply a sheer pink or coral lip gloss to your lips to create the perfect nude lip.

Fabulous Fall Tones

As we slowly begin to creep into the early days of fall, it’s time to shift summer shades toward fall’s most fashionable tones.

The use of cinnamon and sierra toned blushes and shadows make the transition from summer to fall a little easier to take.

The foundation trend is a healthy matte. Use a liquid foundation and set with a loose or pressed powder. Take desert toned blushes to the cheek, accentuate cheekbones with rust and deep bronze tones.

Go natural or go bold with the eyes this season, take your pick! If you’re counting your pennies, look for an all in one eyeshadow palette that will take you from day to night when the time is right. Two must haves are a black eyeliner and mascara, these are essential makeup pieces that you will need all year long.

Coral was the color for spring, orange for summer so it’s only natural that the pendulum will swing towards deep reds for fall. Blend a chicory lip liner through your full lip line and into the lip, adding a shimmering lipgloss. The shimmering gloss and lipliner are transition lip shades that will take you through October, maybe even Thanksgiving.

Summer Romance

Summer is here and the block is H-O-T! While the temps are continuously rising and hopefully so are the dinner offers. If it’s a first date, five year anniversary or guy-spying at a late afternoon wedding, romantic makeup is the way to go!

No matter your skin tone, begin by blending a liquid foundation with a sun protecting moisturizer and apply throughout the face and neck. Use a concealer brush to conceal hyper-pigmentation and redness along the under eye, nasal folds and along the outer creases of the lips and mouth. Meld your concealer and foundation blend with a moistened sponge for a luminous complexion.

Sweep a wash of pale pink blush onto the apples of the cheeks and throughout the temples to give the illusion of a romantic pink cheek.

Stick with minimalist eyes to achieve this look. Honey toned sistas should begin with shimmering pale tones. Toffee to coffee complexioned sistas’ should opt for subtle coppers while my chocolate girlfriends should select deep bronze shades. Apply a thin eye liner along the upper lash line to create subtle definition. Sweep mascara onto the upper and lower lashes.
Make lips the center of attention with a fruity watermelon or strawberry pink lipstick or gloss.

Where will you wear this look?

Wedding Party Makeup

Wedding season is in full gear. Preparing for a cousin or coworker’s wedding can be tricky. You know what you’re wearing but you haven’t quite figured out the makeup.

As the saying goes “less is more” (You wouldn’t want to upstage the bride) and understated is often times the look that garners the most attention!

Begin with the eyes. Apply a black cream shadow or black pencil from the lash line to crease.

Blend deep eye shadow over the full lid. Smooth shadow along the outer rims, extend shadow along the outer corners to exaggerate and enhance your eyes. A densely pigmented formula can be layered for defining lids and lining eyes. Lengthen lashes by adding black mascara that delivers bold, voluptuous lashes.

Go for the shimmering cheek bring your natural glow to the forefront!. Use a short, haired, blush brush to build cream
foundation onto the apples of the cheeks. Blending a shimmering powder blush over the cream blush results in a shimmering sunkissed glow.

Don’t forget the water-proof mascara if you’re a crier. How many weddings will you attend this season?
