‘Best Man’ Sequel in the Works

According to a tweet from movie producer Malcolm D. Lee, the sequel to his 1999 hit film ‘The Best Man’ is officially a go.

Universal studios will bankroll the film, while Lee is set to once again write, direct and the produce the project.

Lee says he came up with the idea earlier this year when he and the cast met up to have drinks. According to Lee, original cast members Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall and Monica Calhoun all expressed an interest in reprising their roles.

As for Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut, Harold Perrineau and Terrecnce Howard, the film’s male leads, there is no word as to whether any of them will be returning.

Filming is reportedly set to begin in the spring of 2012.

  1. They need to bring everyone back.

I wonder why the guys haven’t all signed up like the ladies have?

  2. Is it wrong for me to think that this sequel is going no where? I don’t see it happening. Shoulda made it closer to when the original came about. Maybe so.e of the guys may feel that they are too “big” to reprise that role. Just like how morris chesnut never came back for three can play that game….dang near a decade after the fact.
