Contrary to earlier reports, Beyonce is not being sued for failure to pay for designs for her “I Am… Sasha Fierce” tour. “Project Runway” designer Chris, March, made news recently when he filed suit claiming he hadn’t been paid for his work as the tour’s “head of costumes”. March claims he is owed over $43,000 for his work but has so far not received a dime. Chris March’s attorney however issued a statement today clarifying the matter and apparently exonerating Beyonce.
Read it below…
“Chris March’s lawsuit is not against Beyonce, but rather against Thierry Mugler and Tancrede Prinz, who owe Chris money for having designed and fitted Beyonce’s costumes. Beyonce paid them, but they in turn have not paid Chris.
Chris continues to be a fan and great admirer of Beyonce who looks beautiful in everything she wears, especially Chris’s costumes.”

Mo’ money mo’ problems that’s what BIG said and it’s true people nowadays are doing whateva it takes to get money
lets try2 keep it positive…please
@ 17150918 what are you talkin’ about “Let’s keep it positive” That is reality and it’s true “The more money you make the more problems you get” that comes w/ the territory
um this is crazy ever one trying to get money lol THE [R] WORD is hiting ever one
Nice of Chris’s lawayer to clarify that Beyonce is exempt from the lawsuit.
Hope that Chris gets his money soon because that’s quite a bit to be doing w/o… even if you got it.
I sense the reports on Chris’ lawsuit were misleading to paint Bey in a negative light. If he was working under Mugler’s guidance, than Mugler is the one withholding his paycheck. I hope Chris receives his rightful payment. He’s a talented designer, too. I just finished catching him on P.R. All Stars Challenge. His laugh is infectious :-).
@signature barbie i wasnt tlkn bout your comment i wuz sayin future comments i shoulda threw dat in there, cuz u kno how these things get.
@17150918 Oh my bad lol u right every time a post comes up on Beyonce it does get crazy up in here
lol oh yeah it was to make beyonce look bad poor virgin beyonce persecutted by everyone LMAO ridiculous!!!!!!! I didnt even know about this lawsuit and since when does beyonce get sued?
^^^^^^^^@Voice She never does get sued, it all comes cout to be complete BS, like when that woman sued Beyonce over Baby Boy, she said Beyocne stole her song, she used a “BABY BOY, U STAY ON MY MIND”, LOL she got Instantly turned down
Thierry should pay Chris. Bottom line.
Omg Thierry should just pay Chris! haha :L!!
He should be embarrassed to admit designing those hideous unflaterring get-ups.
And it wasn’t bs when those b’day discs had to be pulled from shelves because of unlawfully using Deseree’s music even after being told no.
@SERLE
LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They took them down because Beyonce changed a word, but in the contract NO WORDS was supposed to be changed….SMH @ You, thinking u got the wrong information
LMFAOOOOOO those outfits were ugly as sin!
Serle
and
LMAO
Boreyawnsay defied Desiree and altered the lyrics because like everything else associated with writing
she wants people/stans to think she’s a great writer and she is not.
That’s why she doesn’t have quality writers like her first album, because they are tired of her ripping of their lyrics and cuttin into their bottomline by adding her name to the credits.
THE OSCARS DON’T PLAY THAT CRAP WITH HER CAMP. SHE AIN’T GONNA WIN AN OSCAR FOR ACTING, AND NOT SINGING A SONG EITHER BECAUSE SHE’S A CROOK!
Now…if Thierry Mugler starts to sue Bey for his payment, it’s more believable she violated the contract between them. Mugler is the direct link; He is in effect working for Bey, the client. Chris March, However, is Mugler’s employee. He needs to be recompense by Mugler for his earned labor.
Here we go….more hate on Beyonce propaganda. Talking about the posters, not the posting of this thread.
Even though Beyonce was wrong with the Desiree situation, Sony was even more wrong for allowing the song to be released since the song belonged to them in the first place. That was not a good look for them. But it still worked out and it was on a re-release anyway. The album was already double plat at the time as well as over 5 mil WW.
Another thing, the songwriter debate has been discussed over and over. Fans know what Bey brings to the table as a songwriter. If some want to continue to discredit, it’s on them.
And from what this article says, this exonarates Bey. This is between employer and employee. So let’s not make this a Beyonce debate fest.
Why are people restating what it says in the actual story to sound smart. You guys really know all about the industry dontcha! The whole purpose of the story is to state that Beyonce paid Mugler but Mugler did not pay March, you parrots.
Ok she escaped this one, but she has been proving 2 do grimy stuff with her business. I know people that work behind the scenes. Neyo don’t rock with her cuz she tried to play him like an upcoming producer and wanted to buy the writing credits from him. Of course he said, heck no, im Neyo.
too much mo stuff 2 write but trust half the writing credits she gets she don’t deserve.
So the people that says Beyonce doesn’t write music does that means your calling kelly and michelle liars??? Because on numerous occasions they’ve said beyonce is a great writer. Also look up videos on youtube of her in the studio she’s writing songs since you have nothing better 2do.
What? No one should have to pay him a dime. That mess is ugly. She would’ve been better off going to the Salvation Army.
I personally think Mugler took Beyonce to the bank. Everything he “designed” for her was a knockoff us stuff he did back in the early 90s when Beyonce was probably like 10 years old. I think he figured she was too young to have seen that stuff in the magazines and plastered in videos all over MTV. If anyone got ripped off it was Beyonce who follishly paid for designs Mugler did years ago.
Do you notice any time their is any kind of controversy involving this woman, it is quickly swept under the rug the very next day. It is like her team pays top dollar to keep her image squeaky clean.
I never said she doesn’t write ANYTHING just not EVERYTHING. If you look on the back of Dangerously in Love on almost half the tracks it says co=produced or produced by Beyonce. Of course she didn’t do the beat with her own hands, she payed off an up and coming producer for his credit rights. Yes, she does write and is decent, but you can buy writing and producing credits. SHe wanted the prestige, that’s why she wanted to buy off “Irreplaceable” Can you imagine if she wrote them lyrics? She would be an in-demand songwriter and singer, like Neyo.
Lol NONAME
but um yeah Mugler and Prinz pay Mr. March now because if I was Mr. March I’d go for serious punitive damages and make you pay even more than what you owe.
NONE of us know what she does in the studio whether she writes or not im not saying she does but im also not saying she doesn’t. And how do you know she tried to buy the rights form neyo did he tell u that??
no, im not in the studio with her but i got fam in the business. Honestly anyone remotely in the game can tell you that. Do you think Beyonce produced them tracks on Dangerously in love?? Use common sense now. Its not illegal & she’s not the 1st artist 2 do that, im just tellin you some of the mechanics behind the game.
but what makes you think she couldn’t have produced those tracks or co-produced them? (friendly argument)
I remember seeing her in the studio trying to think of the word “upgrade you” by asking Angie and others what it’s called when you move from coach to first class? They told her and she wrote it down. Maybe that’s her process of writing; collaborative. Maybe she needs help articulating certain words because her vocab isn’t big, but in the end she ‘does’ write her songs? This is just the process of how she does it…
Kanyade : If you were serious that is very scary…. and i agree with stephanie but let’s not forget that beyonce is not like us human she is immortal and can do nothing wrong.
DARCK SISTA > crazy i hope you were playing because i like beyonce but stuff like that is why they call you a stan
@kanyade
link of that please thanks.
or you dnt remember??? that’s probably what it is.
@stephanie
I remember reading somewhere that Beyonce went to the Metropolitan Museam of Art where they featured some Thierry Mugler designs in the “Superheroes” (i think) exhibit, dating back to the ’80s. Beyonce was inspired by this, so she wanted a recreation of this look for her tour so that “Sasha Fierce” could look even more…fierce I guess. So I think she knew that her costumes would be similar to those made famous 20+ years back…kinda like a reinterpretation of his classics.
Kanyade is exactly right. I remember seeing that video off of youtube. Her way of writing, at least post- destiny’s child, is more collaborative. That’s why you see at least 3 or 4 different writers on just about each song on her albums. And to be honest, it’s no different from what Keri Hilson, who is more known as a “songwriter”, does with her group The Clutch. I assume that what they do as a group is no different from what Beyonce does with people in her camp.
kanyade i remember watching that i think it was mtv showing behind the scenes of her making bday album so 17150918 dont worry she is not making it up.
Alrite ill take yall word 4it jus tired of people sayin she doesn’t write music like she can’t write a single word or somethin.
@17150918, I’m sure it would also pain Beyonce deeply to hear people express their opinions of you.
She already explain what she does in the studio: ‘I don’t play any instrument,’ she says. ‘I have writers that I write with, or I have writers that will send me a full song, and I’ll rearrange it – change the second verse, change the melody, keep a chord that I like, and recreate it. Just depends. I might bring in whoever I think can help the song. When I have just a beat it’s the most fun for me. I’ll get somebody to play whatever I hum for the bassline. So I’m creating a whole track with my voice.’
@serle
na it doesn’t pain me i jus said im tired of it, you know jus like your tired of seeing beyonce and tired of hearing of her you know kind of like that.
o yea and I’m glad you posted that curtis people jus thinks she’s dumb.
ROTFL how cute, i can see some pacing back and forth “i have to say something to make her look smart, i just need to find it” Lol
Serle ROTFL i like you!
@ DARK SISTA,
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

17150918,
Thank God for the internet right? Gotta have those links for proof and shiz these days don’t we? LOL. I don’t make stuff up, hon. I leave that to the ‘chillens’. As a couple other posters confirmed it was B’Day era and some behind the scenes thing. It’s out there. I’d rather not search for it as having seen it is enough for me to presumptuously state my claim of how she works. And as our dear CURTIS has provided a quote I see I’m right :)
Peace.
I have mad love for you too, Kanyade….
*hugs*
V., the industry is all about songwriting teams. Every songwriter has different strengths to what they do. Some are good with lyrics but arrangements aren’t the best, and someone else from their team is better at that. Some can’t write choruses. Some are strong at choruses.
So I agree, it is no big deal to me that Keri, Bey or whoever has a team of songwriters with them. As long as they put out quality, and it is delivered effectively, who cares. Right?
Even the Irreplacable issue is a perfect example of this. Neyo wrote the lyrics but she did the melodies and harmonies(along with Stargate). In fact, I will post that also just to confirm what I am saying.
Angel: Ok, we want you to clear up this whole incident with the “Irreplaceable” song with Beyonce. We hear a lot of rumors, she didn’t give you credit, you talked about it on 106th.
Ne-yo: Yeah.
Angel: So what’s the real story behind that?
Ne-yo: The real story behind that is… it is what it is. I think what happened was she was in Japan or something and right before she sang the song she said, “I wrote this for my ladies.” My whole thing is this, I didn’t write, “let me love you” by myself, I wrote that with this cat by the name of [couldn’t pick up the name]. He is one of Scott Scorch’s writers. So when people ask, “Did you write Let me Love you” I say yeah, because I did write the song, I just didn’t write it by myself, but I did write the song. Same thing with Beyonce, she didn’t write the song by herself. I wrote the lyrics, she put together a lot of the melodies and harmonies and what not, which is what makes it a co-write. Now she’s at a show, the spot light is on her, I’m not expecting her to turn around and put the spotlight on me in her show. There have been incidents with her crediting me with writing the song with her before, but she just didn’t do it that one time and people really blew it all out of proportion. I know that she didn’t mean nothing negative by that. I know that is wasn’t on some “let me just let the world know that I wrote this song and he ain’t had nothing to do with it.” I know it wasn’t nothing like that, because I know Beyonce and she ain’t that type of person. Real Talk. So I just think that the world kind of blew it out of proportion. I want to thank everybody for riding with me on some “yo Ne-yo wrote that song.” But it wasn’t that serious.
Angel: Ok, thanx for clearing that up.
Ne-yo: 4sho
This is from concreteloop so hopefully, the controversy would cease because this is from the horse’s mouth(so to speak).
