You are correct, Neyo never sued her. From what I heard Beyonce and Neyo worked out a different agree to do a duet together and considering her husband is also his boss it would be in his best interest not to sue consider Jay-Z is a bit cut throat also. From what I heard I thought that The Dream wrote Umbrella. I don't recall Rihanna ever saying that she wrote the song.BC Jean did do a demo of the song, but she is the original songwriter. Beyonce liked the original song, but changed some of the lyrics to get writing credit. They only reason why we know this is because BC Jean had the courage to stand up for her work and her intellectual property. Now Desiree did sued Beyonce because she violated the stipulations of the contract which was not to change any lyrics in the song. Beyonce signed off on that, but did otherwise and that is why she got sued in that situation.Avril Lavigne was sued for the same thing.

KUDOS CNS!!!!

Thanks for telling the truth & waking all of these delusional fans!

KUDOS @
That sounds reasonable, but can you explain to me that if this is an industry standard on how music is made why she is always call out or sued by the original songwriters, such as Neyo, Desiree and now BC Jean?Would this also mean that if I took an original song say You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”sung by Aretha Franklin and co-written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, and then changed the melody, do I get writing credit also? She gets call out because she herself claims to write the lyrics. Then when she is embarrassed later she will admit that she wrote the melody. She claims writing credit because writers usually make more money from the song that the actually singer. Her motivation is just pure greed. That is why I thought that it was pure comedy that she is shown in writing in a note pad. She also got called out by the academy awards when she claimed writing credit on the song” Listen”(which I thought was a beautiful song) in Dream girls. When asked what did she contribute to the song, she had to admit that the only thing she did was change the title. This seems to be a pattern with her.

neyo never sued her? he was making it clear that he wrote the song and she added to it instead of the other way round.

BC jean recorded a demo for Beyonce, it happens all the time, Umbrella was recorded by an anon singer, it was sent to mary j who turned it down then britney who turned it down then to Island who gave it to Rihanna.

Yes it is true, if you say took a song and re-recorded it, added your own ad libs changed the way a particular part was sung then you could say that you co-wrote it, thats just how it works, if Beyonce' didnt write then nobody would write for her because no writer would allow someone to take a percentage of something they didnt create.

I could understand if B only worked with one writer and one producer and then i could say that "shes come to a deal with them- so if she only works with them, they will give her automatic credit" but her songs are produced by varieties of people so she obviously does write, sometimes she'll actually write the lyrics and then sometimes to shell alter them, it's still writing.

and alicia never outsold Beyonce' anywhere, i love alicia too, but when it comes to commercial success and all round talent, its Beyonce' who wins everytime.

Now, heres the thing, nothing we say on these forums will influence B's success, she's going to sell whether people like it or not, i for one have already preordered the record and have already downloaded the video of Single Ladies and If i were a boy as well as the singles, i am an example of one of those fans who will wait outside the store on the release date an hour before the store opens just so i can feel like theres something special about the cd that i buy.

This is how Beyonce' has influenced us, and she delivers the goods everytime.

Beyonce as we all know cowrites all her songs, changing the melody counts as songwriting because when a writer writes a song they don't just write lyrics they create a melody so if a writer sends B a song and she changes the key in which a song is sung or changes a verse or hook, it is writing credit, get to know these things before you start trying to be funny.
