As previously reported here last week, singer Beyonce is indeed shooting the video for her first single, If I Were A Boy. The certified diva who claims she is so over being a pop star, was spotted down in Harlem on the set of her new video, rocking a police uniform. New York post photographers were on the scene and noted: Beyoncé cops some attitude in Harlem yesterday morning as she films a portion of her new video, “If I Were a Boy.” But even the uniform can’t conceal that a boy she’s not. Toting a taser and handcuffs, the curvy R&B star made the arresting appearance on West 119th Street near Lenox Avenue. Accompanied by her on-screen police partner, the sexy singer descended the steps of a brown stone and climbed into a patrol car.

I suppose she thinks she’s above that and now wants to be labeled accordingly. Anyhoo, this “If I were a boy” title reminds me a lot of Ciara’s “Like a Boy” song a few years ago.

Two people may put on the same dress, but one WEARS the dress as oppose to letting the dress wears her. It is about the way you CARRY yourself in that dress. The same goes for several things [Hairstyles, fashion, covering a classic song...] It’s not about performing the classic song EXACTLY the way the original artirst performs it. It’s about making it your own. This distinction is what I praise.
Looks like kind of fun, can’t wait to see it. The title reminded me of “Like a Boy”, too. But the only word that they have in common is boy, so I guess it could remind me of quite a few more song’s than Ciara’s.
I don’t think she’s playing the role of a male cop. She’s a female cop. I think the song is not that obvious, it might not be what you all think it is.

Dropping two singles in one day, a new album, two movies back to back and over the top promotions. It is called over saturation of the market and it can kill a career. It begins to be way too much.
I have seen Britney Spears perform, the girl is hot. She is not a great singer, but she is like the white version of Janet Jackson when it comes to performing. This girl was an overnight sensation and the media still loves her.
I think Beyonce made those comments about how she is over being a pop star, because she has competition now. Making those comments are going to come back and bite her in the butt.

mmm i can’t wait to see where she is going with this and the fact that they already have a second single lined up says alot. One: Brandy and Monica whom I both loved since Iwas a little girl will not sell the way they did back in the 90’s. I havent even heard Brandy’s song on the radio yet. And Nobody is checking for Monica the way they used to. I dont see them as much competition and I swear Im just being real. I would never hate on either one of them.
Two: While Rihanna is hot stuff, SHE WILL NOT and I repeat SHE WILL NOT stand up against Beyonce. Rihanna is a singles artist and nothing more. Her album never sales and she cant perform. Dont compare her to Madonna because Madonna is a certified entertainer and an all around innovator. Trust it takes more than a dope black haircut. I think Rihanna should take a break and then come back out. Rejuvenate herself. Go train. Get some vocal coaching, dancing lessons and a new look.
Third: I see Britney only as a force when the girl is like someone stated ” in the right state of mind”. I see her being competition. People (well mostly white people) are dying for her to comeback. Everyone knows Beyonce is not creative, she is getting older so she cant do this much longer without taking a real break to have kids and live life. I cant believe this album is her most reflective because to me she hasn’t grown publicly, her and jay run around like kids still hiding their relationship after marriage……I dont see her doing social work unless she is gearing up for a tour, she never hangs out with other women, she hasnt gone through anything in life, she is a FRAUD!

Like I said, I don’ t listen to her….I listen to pandora mainly (a great music channel) by the way as they have the license, it provides variety…you can type in any genre…I go from baroque classical, to motown, to indie….as I just don’t buy records, I can’t think of the last album I bought…well I did buy Common as I knew I wouldn’t hear him on the radio, I do buy Marley…but for the rest the LICENSED pandora site and radio and now even cable has great radio channels where you can listen by period, I prefer the 80’s and 90’s…it gives me the variety I also bought a Bejing Brothers CD, I saw them performing on the street in London at Picadilly Circus and bought that but just going buying CDs that is just not me…so let me change my screen name again to Never Bought Many Records period, as its true. Nor Celebrity products….don’t own a stich of rocawear, sweetface whatever…but I do own property…with the deed and I am still in my 20’s! Its called priorities, for some supporting CELEBRITES is a priority and for others its TOTALLY NOT…I will respect you all…and you all can respect me… I won’t beyonce bash but I will state that I wish her fans would hold her to a higher standard and then we will truly get the most from her talent….

First, if there is a generalization [i.e. Black women this, Black men that], don’t take the person seriously. You know Black women/men are INDIVIDUALS. Each and everyone of us are unique. We are NOT the same. We don’t have the same preferences and dislikes. Because YOU know not ALL Black women choose blonde hair and plastic surgery, the woman’s argument is flawed.
Second, there is a little thing call Freedom of Choice. As individuals, we have the right to make our own decisions. It doesn’t matter if it’s right/wrong in another’s eyes. Also, what work for you may not work for me. If you like something, it doesn’t mean I like it, too. You may not like blond hair with you skin tone, but that doesn’t mean all black women feel the same way about blonde hair.
Because we are INDIVIDUALS with Freedom of Choice, we may color our hair ANY colors we wish. We may style it however we want. We may change the texture/not. We may tan/not, and so on…
Keep in mind, this applies to ALL men&women.
