Well it appears Beyonce is not about to go away anytime soon as Jim Hill Media is reporting the singer is in talks with Disney to star in the movie adaptation of the Tony Award winning play, Aida. In the past both Toni Braxton and Heather Headley have played this role on Broadway but it appears that Disney thinks Beyonce has what it takes to make this film a hit on the big screen. There is no word yet whether Beyonce will accept the role or not, but with music and production from Elton John and Tim Rice, I think it’s a safe bet that she will. Stay tuned…
And in other sad Beyonce news, two fans at Beyonce’s concert in St Loius were injured when pyrotechnics went awry and landed in the front row. Both fans were taken to the hospital where Beyonce reportedly visited them later. The video below captures the out of control fireworks.
People will of course complain but just like Dreamgirls this movie is perfect for her. It’s a musical and not much great acting will be expected of her.
I was watching TV One yesterday and saw an old episode of All Of Us that Beyonce appeared on. She was really horrible. I then thought of how good she was in Dreamgirls and I realized that her acting has really improved and probably will continue to do so. I’m happy for her and wish her luck. She is truly getting better. Not great, but better :thumbsup:

Practice makes perfect … I think Beyonce can do a good job as long as she practices her acting skills and really get into her character.

PLEASE NOOOOOOO !!! The play is a classic and I’ve loved since I was a little girl. I honestly believe she won’t and can’t do it any justice. I suggest better equipped actresses should be considered for the part instead of just going along with the rest of the world’s thinking that Beyonce’s the all mighty talent queen. Let someone else enter the spotlight. You never know, that, they, in fact, maybe better than her.

They should get Anika Noni Rose for the role. There are plenty of talented actresses who can sing. I think they want Beyawnce so that they can capitalize on her popularity and sale more movie tickets. I don’t think her voice is that great either. It seems shaky and she can’t hit the high notes without yelling. Is this movie going to be animated or with actual people acting?
Beyawnce will never be taken seriously as an actress. All of her roles involve her singing and being the pretty chick. She’s typecast. None of her roles are deep. She can’t even act.

I’ve no doubt that Beyonce will take on this endeavor. Personally, I think any role with singing is fitting for her. Aida, yes. Maggie the Cat? NO. Aida, yes. Deborah Cox, Michelle Williams, Toni Braxton, Heather Headley, etc. have all done this role. And if this is a television production, then yes, she should do it. The camera loves Beyonce…but the stage, i.e. the Broadway stage in a production that is NOT a musical (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), well that’s yet to be determined.
I think she is a great performer, as along as there is music involved. However, if she does take this on I think it will put her a bit further away from being taken seriously as a dramatic actor…maybe she knows her limitiations and will stick with musicals. Cleary she does well in them.

Really? Hmmmm, I swear I remember reading reviews of her work in film and tv prior to Monster’s Ball where she was praised, highly praised for her acting skills.
I think people ‘really’ came to know her after Monster’s Ball, but chica has done some great work and in this aspect, Beyonce’s acting cannot even be compared to Halle’s.
Again I say, she should stick with musicals, musical-oriented films as she does very well in them. But as far as dramatic roles, she should start out ’small’, try her hand at it, take classes, get training and then move on to do other roles like “Maggie the Cat” in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”. But then again, she might surprise us all…who knows? But to say that Halle is a shoddy actor is just…I’m seriously shaking my head here ‘coz I can’t comprehend that. Wow…. As far as acting goes Beyonce and Halle don’t even fall in the same Catergory in my opinion. Beyonce is still a New jack as far as acting goes. She’s got a lot to learn. Halle has been on the screen since the early 1989, she has skills… Everybody was sweating Monster’s Ball because that was the first time she got sexed up on screen if thats what you want to call it. She blew me away when she played Dorothy Dandridge. She was good in “Why do fools fall in Love” with Larenz Tate… the list goes on… My girl Halle is in a class by herself.

I like Beyonce and respect her for being a hard working young woman. But, I am convinced that Beyonce only wants these big budget acting roles to establish herself as an actress and because she thinks she is deserving of an Oscar award. I don’t think she has the passion for acting like she does for her music. She wants so badly to be recognized as an A-list Hollywood actress that she is getting desperate. Since Dreamgirls, she has tried for a few scripts, but nothing has come through. She will get type cast because she is the current reigning pop diva and because the camera loves her pretty face. For those reasons, winning an Oscar or Tony award will just be a fantasy.
There are so many great African American actresses in the business who have a passion for it and who can really act and they are getting passed over for her. But, the media builds her up because she fits the image that White America loves.
As far as Halle, Beyonce is not even on her level when it comes to acting.

Beyawnce and Halle Berry are very overrated. Most of Halle’s movies and Bey’s music are lame anyway. They get more attention for their looks over their “talents?”. My personal opinion is that these two seem to be the token black chicks that the majority white entertainment world pushes and feel the most comfortable with. They’re both beautiful and lightskinned and appeal to most races. I’m not a hater. I’m just stating the facts. I actually like a couple of Halle’s movies and two of Beyawnce’s songs.

I am a HUGE Beyonce fan all day long…that woman commands any red carpet, photo shoot, or stage she is on BUT when it comes to acting she is not believable…I cringed during Carmen Hip Hopera, during Austin Powers I shook my head “why”, during Dreamgirls she had moments that I was proud of her acting but when it counted in the end (her scenes with Effie and Jamie Foxx at the end) they were not believable to me totally–especially the scene she did with Jennifer Hudson…her acting seemed fake but with Jamie Foxx it seemed a little better. I am hoping she gets better but this is a huge and important role and I would look at casting Toni Braxton but of course she won’t pull the numbers or audience that Disney knows Beyonce will and whatever happened to Brandy and Monica…where are they?

I don’t understand why some black people love to call and label people as being jealous and a hater. I am only 13 and it’s sad that people can not have an opinion without being judged. I 100% disagree that Beyonce is a role model for young women. She is not my role model. I happen to like Oprah as my role model. It’s sad some younger people my age have more intelligence than some of the adults posting here on this message board. At least at my school we can agree to disagree without degrading each other by calling someone broke, jealous, or a hater. If someone does not think that Beyonce is the best fit for a role that’s not hating that’s a matter of preference as far as whom you see as a good actress for that part. Then the same thing happened again. I was leaving a random post and another poster (who read the argument) decided to come in and say your a liar and on and on. Then we got into it and GIRL they brought up my CHILD! So I just ended it, because I will KILL Over my Angel face.
SO then I see madd post from an Anonymous that I hate S.DOT, or DIE S.Dot for no reason. Other poster on here has made comments about all the ARGUMENTS TOO and thought it was out of line as well.
So no I’m not crazy, one mistake I did do was tell some one who doesn’t care for me my personal business.
..So now were here with THIS ONE! Yes, TO ME I was HATED ON.
Instead of trying to get rude with me, Anonymous should have asked if may be that little girl touched me. Honestly that’s how I was taking the little girls post. I meant no harm at all but of course, some one had to FIND FAULT.

We should support and uplift Beyonce’, she is making a way for the next generation of young black women who want are pursuing careers. Practice does make perfect and I support not only Beyonce’, but all other young women aspiring to do something positive with their lives.
