Shakira’s voice is just horrid.The minute she opened her mouth I turned the volume down.She and Beyonce make a good combination though.The song is weak though.I don’t see it being a hit but it helps push Beyonce’s album which is what it is intended to do.She is very smart to release these singles and videos on her own.I gotta hand it to her managemnt team they know how to play the game and are excelling at it.

I anticipated the video to be better. Maybe if I see it on an actual TV it may be good. I always thought they kind of resembled each other. Shakira is crazy with those movements. I go to so many blogs and I see how people say they can’t stand Beyonce or they are tired of seeing her and hearing her. Or they are fans but she’s worn out her welcome. Her record sales have always had a ? mark beside the actual sales b/c from what I’ve heard they aren’t all legit sales even with Dangerously In Love the cd I acutally enjoyed her record sales were not what they claim to be. Sony records were suid $10 mill for that very reason with her and other artist on the label with record sales that were found to be false! So all you die hard fans have to think about what kind of person you are supporting. I used to be a big fan of hers and DC as a whole. But now it’s like what kind of music is this, its not R&B that’s for sure. I don’t mind pop but too much drives me crazy personally! I just don’t think she is relevant anymore. All the arguing and criticizing back and forth is becoming a bit redundant! Janet came in at #2 on the billboards, but no one talks about that. She didn’t ruin anything for Ciara who is doing great and her album is good too. The only issue I have w/ Bey is that if she is so good (and I do think she is), why do you have to do such caniving things to maintain, like compete by dropping albums purposely over other people. She has gotten enough going she doesn’t need to behave that way. And yes Alicia Keys is another catergory, but she is just as talented if not more, she writes, arranges music, and sings well. I think Hollywood so is dazzled by Bey’s beauty and body that she gets a free pass all of the time.
I like Shakira. I bought both of her English albums. Shakira is one of those entertainers that you either like their voice and style or you don’t. There really is no in between. Personally, I feel Shakira made the song more likeable with her appearance in the video. I listened to the song earlier without the video and I’m sorry to say but it bored me. The video also bored me but the choreography I liked the most was when they were lying on the ground and they put their palms together.
Upgrade U deserved a better video. This is the type of song where the ideas for the video are practically endless. I liked (and I say “liked” because how many times can radio stations play the same songs?!) this song and I believed a creative video, along the lines she was singing about, will bring the fire back to it. We all have songs we tire of quickly but after seeing a well made video for it, you start liking it even more. This video does not do it. This is why artists shouldn’t pay for their own videos because, understandably, you don’t want to put too much money out. With the cut in funds is a cut in creativity.
She did look flawless in Upgrade You though. Her makeup and hair was on point.

Beyonce didn’t damage the careers of any other female artist.Times change as time will eventually catch up to Beyonce and she will be on the outside looking in.
Janet Jackson is light years beyond Beyonce and even now at the height of her career she still isn’t Janet and will not be able to fill arenas and stadiums as Janet has.
