Beyonce As Etta James Beyonce Knowles, Ali Larter and Idris Elba will star in “Obsessed,” a thriller that Screen Gems will put into production this summer. Steve Shill will direct a script by David Loughery. Will Packer produces, and Knowles will be exec producer along with her father, Mathew Knowles. Knowles is also producing and co-starring as Etta James in “Cadillac Records” for Sony BMG; Larter is working on episodes of NBC’s “Heroes. “In “Obsessed,” Elba will play an asset manager who has a knockout wife (Knowles) and thriving career until a temp office worker (Larter) begins stalking him. 1. She is determined to be an actress. Good for her

2. :stop:
Beyonce relax….We still ove you. We still will know who you are in 10 years from now.
Go and get married and take a break. Well you can’t rush a man into marriage, especially not a rapper. You are SO overworked. Tell your father to relax and make money off of Solange, somehow. LOL

Beyonce, your a beautiful woman. Don’t mess up your good genes by having a baby with Jay-Z. LOL>…..Jus kiddin.
I SUPPORT YOU B! 🙂
You have been in my face since 1997 though. That’s over a decade ago!
RELAX!!!!

3. Any excuse for me to look at Idris Elba is a good enough reason for me.

4. This is what is called the “Halle” syndrome. Beyonce can not act. We all know that. But her name alone will bring a draw. I call it the “Halle” because as much as I love Halle Berry, I’m sorry, but she is not the greatest actress. She is better than Bee, but not Oscar worthy as Hollywood would have us to believe. Sometimes beauty and image overshadow talent. Now…I know all the Beyonce lovers are bout to jump on me! I aint scared of yall! Come on! Bring it on!!

But, on a more positive note, I am still happy to see brown sistas on screen, no matter who it is. Go Brown Sistas!! :brownsista:

5. Why does the stalker role have to be given to a White actress? They could have easily cast a sista, but then that would make the cast all Black and thus it will be called a “Black Movie” and the studio probably didn’t want that.

6. I wonder how they’ll bring her singing into the movie. Will she be a nightclub singer? It would shock me if she doesn’t sing in this film.

7. This should be interesting situation.bu tI’ll wait til DVD to see it cause it may not be that good :dance2: :noway: Bu tI’m glad shes making a splash in the movie industry .Since shes the only one that PAPA KNOWLES care about as far as CAREERs

8. That picture is kind of creepy and she looks just like her sister Solange in that picture! Good luck to her in her movies..maybe she has been taking acting lessons.

9. King : 🙁 yay
“she will be 30. “(so she says) in 3 years
she gotta reach to get that oscar she is dying to get i wonder if the oscars people
will fall for that act? if they do they will not be take seriously anymore
well make that money be get paid!

10. I clicked on this post and all I hear in the background {on tv} is: “I found my true match.”
Beyonce haunts me ya’ll 😆 .

Is this movie suppose to be in the theater?? Doesn’t sound all to interesting….

11. @ Nne, that is an interesting pic of her isn’t it? Almost monotone the color there.

As for the movie, like Nefertari said, Idiris *hmmmmmm* *tingles* That man is sexy! 😆

I’ll wait and rent it…maybe. :brownsista:

12. Beyonce and Idris in a love scene, can’t wait! I can see him now with his hands all over her!LOL I am definitely seeing this! Beyonce is serious about acting. Glad to see she’s branching out in this role.

13. When will they give movie roles to real black actresses and not singers. We need to see more brown on screen yes, but what about the craft? B is terrible at this. :lol2:

14. HMM……………  it sound like a straight to dvd movie !!! But anyways good luck with that

15. THATS RIGHT BEYONCE!!!!!!!!!!
SHE IS NOT LEAVING THIS EARTH UNTIL SHE IS A LEGEND. SHE IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD HAHAHAHAHA….FREEKUM FREEKUM…LOL

16. I agree, she is a good singer, very talented, but acting? She need to give that up cause that really ain’t happening for her. Otherwise she will soon be so over exposed, everybody will be sick of her.

17. and oh yeah……How did Jay Z become “the king” he has some of the corniest lyrics.

18. :dance2: Go ‘head Beyonce! If Halle can win an Oscar, you can too :booty:

Keep hope alive

19. umm beyonce will not be winning an oscar for this or anything else….

20. I love B but she is no actress. But Idris will more than make up for it so I’ll rent it

i love u Idris :dance1:

21. i’m trying to see who the audience is for this movie. though well known, neither idris elba or ali larter will likely garner a box office. and so many people are frightened by beyonce’s acting that i doubt many will get up off the couch to see her muddle through her 10 scenes in the movie.

22. Obsessed is right. This chick is so desperate to be an actress that it seems like she will take any movie role at the moment. Poor girl. This movie and Cadillac Records both sound like flops.

23. Please, please, please don’t start talking about Oscars. Like the old folks use to say, never count your chickens before the eggs hatch. Besides, it is ridiculous to be talking Oscars and she hasn’t even started filming the movie. Plus, Beyonce does not have the acting chops to even be nominated for any Oscars. It is just wishful thinking on her part and her over obsessed fans. She only wants an Oscar award because it is the most prestigious award in the business. So therefore, she doesn’t deserve one. That is my opinion which I am entitled to one.

24. WOW THAT ALL I HAVE TO SAY GOOD LUCK BEE YOU GOING TO NEED IT. BUT THE PIC IS LOOKING CRAZY RIGHT NOW. STEP U PUT THE RIGHT PICTURE UP LOL. WHAT GOOD NEFE AND LIYAH.

25. I think Bey is a good actress – not great, but she’s getting there. And why should she sit down? I wouldn’t, I would continue to make my paper. People will flock to see this movie because she has that box office appeal – especially to those who love her music. It’s not her fault that she continues to thrive among the other black actresses in hollyweird. She’s getting her shine on just like they would. This ought to be a good movie – if she tweeks her craft in the acting field.

26. SO SO SAD. GET OVER PEOPLE SHE ALREADY TOOK THE ROLE, JUST DON’T GO SEE IT IF IT IRRITATES U SO MUCH

27. Thank you! Just silly, that black folks want other black folks to sit down just because they don’t care for them.SMH Just don’t watch the movie. Obviously, she loves what she’s doing. Maybe, more folks would live happier lives if they loved what they are doing.

Go head my BROWN SISTA! :brownsista:

28. Stop fooling yourself people. Beyonce Knowles is NOT a good actress. She is a singer who wants to be an actress. It is obvious that she is being placed in movies because her popularity in the music business can bring in the younger crowds. Trust me, they are not hiring her for those tired acting skills or should I say, lack of. How the heck can she be an executive producer when she has no education and can barely speak. I guess being pretty does have it perks.

29. I agree she shouldn’t sit down she is just making money which is what i’d do in the same situation. However her acting is terrible!!! I can’t understand why somebody doesnt point this out to her she should stick to music.

30. She needs to stick to what she’s good at..Even her acting in the commercials make me cringe..

31. But, on a more positive note, I am still happy to see brown sistas on screen, no matter who it is. Go Brown Sistas!!

^^^^^
Beyonce is not ‘brown’…she is gold. LOL!

32. I agree to a certain extent!” PEOPLE” let’s not forget beyonce has a built in audience so she going to make as many movies,’Hustle’ any and everything form that Cell phone to House of Do iT All wrong ,to the Kitchen Sink.

WHY you her fans and the people who admire he ,are going to buy it . So in retrospect can we really be made at her?
My personal opinion i called it whoring of america we as a people and consumer of everything. We do any and everything to stay on top of the game we will set aside our convictions and do what ever it needs to be done to stay their So again should we be angry at her.

Just my two cents

33. I feel you YAYA on that one. People r getting upset because deep down she can not really act. You notice her line be mad short. You see in dreamgirl when she curse she did not sound right lol. You see homeboy said mmmm i did not know miss thang got a potty mouth lol. Austin power they had to cut her lines. She can sing her butt off and she can perform. But it what it is. Beyonce going to milk it for all it worth so let her beeeeeeeee.

34. So, just don’t watch her movies. All her movies have done well at the box office. She has an audience. Those who enjoy her work will see it. Those who don’t won’t. Yet, everyone will read about it and see pics on the net because she’s a star. Simple!

35. Beyonce is young and still a hot commodity. She is currently the it girl of the black community that everybody wants where it used to be Halle Berry. Beyonce is going to take whatever she can get until the well runs dry. She is smart and knows that this is the entertainment business where you can be hot and on top of the World one day, and lying stretched underneath of it the next. Solid gold records and blockbuster movies are not always promised no matter how popular the celebrity Celebrities have to get their hustle on just like the rest of us.
is.

:brownsista:

36. She is getting hired only because of her looks. She can hire the best acting coach in the business, it won’t help. The girl just can’t act. Plus she is probably a little jealous because Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys are getting offered juicer movie roles with more substance.

Call me a hater, I really don’t care.
:booty:

37. Sounds interesting! Will definitely have my bucks ready to see Idris and Beyonce get busy! 😆

38. ^ Hater 🙂
Seriously, I like that she is co-producing..Beyonce is making sure that she is not Jennifer Hudsoned this ‘go round’

39. THIS PIC LOOKS MORE LIKE SOLANGE W/ BLONDE HAIR…LOOK AT THE LIPS AND JAWS….!!!

40. It really doesn’t matter rather we like her acting skills, or not. She’s going to do her; and truthfully, she has every right to. Though, I would rather see her doing more singing/dancing then acting any day. Oh well, on with the show….. 🙄

41. The only reason she wants to act and produce movies is because she thinks she is getting an Oscar award. Somebody needs to let her and her father know that Oscars are not given out based on pretty looks and music sales. It is the Oscars baby, not the MTV and BET awards where awards are handed out based on popularity. Big, big difference.

42. My only thing is she wants an Oscar only because its the best award to get outside of music, she doesnt want this because of the craft.
Get ready for Beyonce overload this summer. :stop:

43. Finally, Beyonce is stepping out of her comfort zone and doing something totally different from playing a singer. She may not be the best actress or get that Oscar award that she wants, but at least she is finally realizing that acting is about building your craft and challenging yourself by taking on different roles and characters. I think at this point she just wants to be recognized and respected in the acting field.

44. I just pray she does much much better this time around. I rather hear a new album from her. I miss her music man!

45. yes me renegae i agree!! she does look a lot like solange in that pic!

46. Thank you Kenny. Somebody is on my street. Beyonce only wants to do movies because she desperately wants an Oscar award because it is the highest honor in the entertainment business. She wants to say, I am Beyonce, the superstar, I have 11 grammys, a Tony and an Oscar. What about the seasoned actresses who have worked in movies, build their craft and respect the art of acting. This bytch thinks that just because she is pretty and has a successful music career, she should be given an Oscar. She is such a spoiled brat. She is the female Kanye West.

Kiss my butt if you don’t like my opinion.

:booty:

47. Wow do you all really think she just want to say she has an Oscar? Do any of you think that she may really like and enjoy acting?

In all I think she likes acting but do I thinks she’s a great actress NO! I think she should just stick to singing if you ask me. She the bomb on stage man! THE BOMB! But on TV I don’t know. I just wish her the best!

48. LOL @ Beyonce being the femme Kanye West. That’s too funny, I feel you on that.

49. Chey honey, Bey aint just the it girl in the black community. She’s the it girl everywhere.

I’m not a stan of anyone, but I do respect a person that’s on top, who can do whatever the hell she wants and jealous h*es will still follow.

50. Said, so what you want? some ugly b*tch to be a lead actress? Have of Hollywood shouldn’t where they’re at right now. People act like that’s the only black movie or movie out period.

I highely doubt that she’ll get an oscar, but then again I hope she does, so people can cringe through thier seats wishing they were her or whoever else that’s on top……RiRi.

51. I’M SORRY GUYS, THIS MOVIE WAS ALREADY ON THE LIFE CHANNEL…

I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU GUYS SAID, BEYONCE CAN NOT ACT… BUT SHE MIGHT PULL THIS OFF, BECAUSE THEY DID SAY SHE WILL PLAY THE KNOCKOUT WIFE..ALL SHE NEED TO DO IS LOOK PRETTY AND SHE WILL BE OK..PLEASE DON’T GIVE HER ANY SPEAKING ROLES OR ACTUALLY ACTING ROLES..

WAITING FOR THIS ON DVD!!!

GOODNIGHT!!!

52. I give Matt some degree of credit in terms of signing Idris Elba.

Idris has a fan base, so Matt & Co. are probably banking on his fans coming to see it, despite what people think of Beyonce. I am not a movie theater goer myself — I’ll wait for DVD or HBO.

53. It is not that serious people. She is just playing the role of the beautiful knockout wife (how hard can that be). Geez, why all of the fuss. LOL.

54. Beyonce herself said she wants and Oscar and a Tony, this isnt something we made up…..she just thought she was going to get one from Dreamgirls but she spoke to soon. I want to see the movie because I like Idris and Ali but I know I will cringe everytime Beyonce speaks. B has to understand no one is perfect including herself, which means stick to doing what you do best. :dance1:

55. I can’t wait to see Beyonce and Idris bumping and grinding! Have mercy! What a man! What a man!

56. She sure did Kenny. She said it on numerous interviews. She was so sure that Dreamgirls was her ticket to winning that prestigious Oscar award. But I really think the whole Dreamgirls drama made her realize that acting and winning an Oscar award is not as easy as 123. Trust me, she and her father will not let that happen again, that is probably why they have their hands in producing these two movies.

57. i think in this movie you are more likely to see idris and ali larter get busy not b and idris..

58.
i think in this movie you are more likely to see idris and ali larter get busy not b and idris..
AGREED. I doubt Bey has it in her to go that far. You know Papa Knowles and Jay got her on lock 😆 . I was shocked when she cursed in Dreamgirls… the image she puts out to the world is so not gritty, and if she wants to win an Oscar she needs to cut out that robotic holier-than-thou act of hers…

59. What I hate about this movie is Ali Larter. Not the actress herself, but what Hollywood is using her to represent: that white actress who is okay with having a black male love interest. Remember how many times Julia Stiles was paired with a black actor after “Save the Last Dance” hit it big? It’s annoying and patronizing to black people as well a the white actress.

60. Geez Beyonce is very competitive. No one is good at everything! She is really trying to prove herself, I hope she doesn’t ruin her career in the process….. 😐

61. Forgive me… but i won’t watch her humiliate herself like she did on dreamgirls
i was a beyoncé “liker” until she let the fame the greed and the desir or being wealthy control her don’t get me wrong i too want an higher grade in my profession and guess what? my boss is a man… do i go and dress like a hoochie ready to get d-icked down? do i talk in subjective way? or do i down right sleep with him?

I know it sound crazy but i rather be poor than being rich because of the way i look if i was an entertainer i would be famous for being such a good singer not for being superfine and all of that
its sad that black people will do just about anything to get rich and famous … Dr Luther King should have never waisted his energy to free us we are still slaves … rich slaves….

62. Ok, Beyonce is not as bad of an actress as people are making her out to be. She’s come a long way since Carmen and I as well as most of the critics thought she put on pretty solid perfomance in Dreamgirls. And how many great actors started of great most of the greats studied and learned there craft to me acting is more of a learned talent than anything. So I say Ms. Knowles you keep doing movies keep learning the craft and you can be like, Jamies Fox, Queen Latifah, Will Smith and so on who were not originally actor but became great actors because of practice, dedication, and desire to be the best at what they do. You have the desire, dedication, and your getting the practice. Anyone that thinks someone should give up just because there not great at something to start is an idiot plain an simple. Don’t listen to them, follow your heart and your own good judgment. And Kudos to you for getting into exce producing even if your just learning and not doing much now once you get it down pack, that’s where the money, control and the opportunity give other opportunities come from.

Get Girl !!!! I’ll always support my own cause God knows not to many others will.

63. :hmph: HONESTLY, I DOUBT IF EVERYTIME BEYONCE TAKES A ROLL ON THE SCREEN, HER NOTION IS TO RECEIVE AN OSCAR….COME ON, I AM SURE SHE IS TAKING ENSEMBLE ROLLS TO GET STRONGER AT HER CRAFT. BLACK FOLKS HEAR AND SEE WHAT THEY ANT. I SWEAR SHE SAID”SOME DAY…..I WOULD LIKE AN OSCAR” SOME DAY….DAMN! SOME DAY. IT DID NOT MEAN TODAY OR THE NEXT ROLL. BLACK PEOPLE STOP THE BULLSHIT. NOTHING IS EVER GOOD ENOUGH! I MEAN U COMPLAIN ABOUT BLACK WOMEN GETTING ACTING ROLLS, THEN WHEN A SISTA IS WORKING YOU DAMN NEAR PICKET THE MOVIE. WTF? ALLOW HER TO SURROUND HERSELF WITH THOSE WHO ARE MORE EXPERIENCED AND SHE WILL GROW! OH, ALICIA KEYS IS NOT ANGELA BASSETT…I SAW THE NANNY DIARIES AND ALICIA IS NO BETTER THAN BEYONCE. LETS JUST KEEP IT REAL. BEYONCE HAS THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT EVER SHE WANTS. I LOVE THAT SHE IS LEARNING THE ART OF PRODUCTION, THAT MEANS ALLOT. THIS GIVES HER SOME….SOME PEOPLE, CONTROL OF HER IMAGE AND HOW HER ROLL IS REPRESENTED. GREAT LOOK FOR HER AND OTHER BLACK ACTRESSES. ALSO SHE IS NOT THE CASTING DIRECTOR, SHE IS PART OF A MOVIE. IDRIS WAS HIRED BECAUSE HE AUDITIONED LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE INCLUDING BEE! GET OFF HER DICK… DAMN! SHE DON’T COME ON YOUR JOB AND COMPLAIN TO YOUR BOSS! LET THE GIRL WORK! 😡

64. IDRIS…OH MY! I DONT BLAME BEE……THAT MAN IS FIRE!HE JUST DONT HAVE THE JIGGA COIN!

65. THANK YOU Obamain08!!! You said it perfectly! I honestly don’t know why ppl want to bash her for her efforts. I give her mad respect for not being lazy and doing what other ppl want her to do. She’s young, beautiful, and talented. I wish I had half the opportunities she has – Go Bey do yo thang!

66. SIGHS**
Everybody hates the overacheiver..think about it ..they seem to always remind some of thier own shortcomings.
and Dark sista..not so bright are ya? the whole entertainment industry is based on 10% talent and 90% apperance and marketablilty..no race is immune to this..such is the way in hollywood, I doubt that you coming in the office all “hoochified” would have any affect in whatever proffession it is that youre in..but somewhere you failed to realize that the entertainment indusrty and “office jobs” are two very different realms..Im sorry nothing you said was in the least bit cohesive or logical!! -btw she does look alot like Solange in this picture and thank you Obama for sheding some rational on the subject I never understood why anyone would resent ambition..what the hell does it have to do with you? :loser: :loser:

67. I won’t lie! I am so looking forward to the sex scenes with Bee and Idris! The promotion pics will be off the chain.

68. obama in 08, you spoke the truth. You literally took the words from my mouth. Dark sista, what is your point. In your earlier post on janet jackson, you typed and i QUOTE ” Janet is so cute, i adore her, her voice, her ways. She is too cute”. Unless I’m mistaken, doesn’t janet jackson whom you love her ways capitalize off her sexual appeal. Hasn’t she sold several records with this sexual appeal.? Now on a beyonce post, you claim you detest such sexual appeal and would prefer a singer to be known for her voice. Again, unless I’m mistaken janet jackson doesn’t possess a great singing voice. As a matter of fact, some of her fan base came from her being as you put it ‘superfine’. Now PLEASE EXPLAIN YOURSELF BECAUSE FROM WHERE I’M STANDING, NOT ONLY ARE YOU BIASED AND HYPOCRITICAL, YOU ALSO SEEM JUST NOT TO LIKE BEYONCE.
PS- The humiliation you claim beyonce suffered in the dream girls movie earned her 2 GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS. For a Golden globe nod, I’m sure she’ll be more than willing to go through another humiliation again

69. How do your comments on black people doing anything just for fame and cash and sleeping with bosses and still being slaves relate to beyonce or the topic of discussion. Did she sleep with anyone to get the part? Yes, she has a sexual image, so does Janet ( whose image is by far more sexual and more provocative than beyonce’s) So again what is your point?
PLEASE RESPOND TO EXPLAIN YOURSELF. IT IS THE ONLY DECENT THING TO DO.

70. @Mandy and others

At what point are black women going to let go of the oppressive belief that sexuality is some kind of blemish? That type of thinking is a remnant of slavery and it needs to be destroyed. Sexuality and the embracing of your own sexuality is a gift from God. Are we so sick that we not only feel the need to suppress our own birthright but to also seek to emblazon a scarlet letter on the foreheads of other black women who are free to display healthy and respectful sexuality? Why are we ok with the Mammy and Angry Black Woman images but so against the image of beautiful, sexual, free black women?

During slavery white male slaveowners forcibly took control of black women’s sexuality. Don’t you all think its far past time that we take it back?

Let Beyonce and Janet and Meagan and the rest of these women do their thing. Its not a though they are out here looking and acting like hookers.

Finally if you are one of those black women who for whatever reasons have been abused sexually, repressed sexually, or feel uncomfortable with your sexuality, it is best that you seek help for the issues–and not project that repressive mentality onto other sisters. You are missing out on one of the most beautiful benefits of being a woman. Sensuality is a source of power. You are denying yourself that power.

71. misssixty said : “the whole entertainment industry is based on 10% talent and 90% apperance and marketablilty”
u r basically saying d@ beyoncé is only where she is cause of er looks and d@ anyone that luks better can take ova wit t 10% of talent? are u supposed to be a fan? i think u missed your point and cosigned dark sista witout wantin to!

Mandy:i know u didnt go to look for a post of ers as proof? and you are pleading her to respond to you? like a crazy girl trying to proove to the world she is right !!!!!!that is straight up stalking and stanning !!!!!i hope she dnt answer that’s the decent thing to do shit

i luv beyoncé 2 death i’m a die hard fan i aint gon li
but she cannot compare to janet (go to school whoever said that )
but she is a bad actress point blank! people keep on putting her in movies because she is our girl
and they know we will watch it anyway because we are all under her spell !!!!
i wish i was her hell all her fans wish they were her wich is why we are fans we see in her what we want to be like
her haterz see in her what they will hate to be
idk its bizzare

Either way
beyoncé is NOT the epitome of black women
so stop all the arguing sooner or later untalented 4 head stupid ass rihanna will be shove down our throat the way we forced people to like beyoncé so get ready everybody’s shine end at some point
so can’t we just get along?

72. I agree with Nia (3/6/08) Halle and Beyonce cannot act. People are only looking at their looks and not their actual talent. Beyonce is a singer. Please stick to that. If you bomb this time, this may be a good time to let it go. As long as Halle looks like she does, she’ll always get a role. A real actress such as Angela Bassett deserves an oscar. I have to give it to B though she ain’t gave up yet. Although she should.

73. :iagree: obama in 08. No she’s not a great actress, but she is getting better. I feel as if Rihanna–although I love her to death–can keep on singing even though she’s not that good of a singer and there are many more talented individuals in the world, then Beyonce can keep on acting. I think she really loves it. And of course, who wouldn’t want an Oscar? I remember after Halle Berry won hers, she said next up was a Grammy. Don’t get mad at Beyonce for being ambitious. I commend her for reaching for the stars despite the naysayers.

74. I’m just a little 🙁 that some of you (a couple) have placed Beyonce and Halle in the same sentence in reference to their acting talents. C’mon!

75. “LOOK” irregardless of what many of us think of her acting prowess in which i personally think is very limited at best.I have to say some points were made are very valid

Like someone pointed in which is very true, she has what many in the “BUSINESS” don’t have a strong fan base .Point Blank she is going to put butts in the seats sells tickets probably recoup most if not all their money “WHY” because she’s BANKABLE.

again In which it’s true about 10% talent and 90% marketability on point because it’s less about talent more about your marketability i.e……sexaulity

WHY,OH WHY WOULD ANYONE IN ANYWAY OR ANY MEANS TRY TO COMPARE BEYONCE TO HALLE BERRY ?

76. Makayla:
don’t worry girl
I do not share bananas with gorillaz neither do i argue with little girls that need some kind of substance in their e- life ,or stories to tell..
i’ll chek up on you for a review about the movie 😛

Nefer: I always agreed with you i’m not going to change my mind now that you’re comment is against me because whether i like it or not it makes complete sens but this is my question:

First: you would not find sexier than me even if you looked with a Torch
i’m down right sensual when i am with my man
i think there is nothing more atractive that a woman that knows her body and have a signature walk

but my question is :
is it an honor to be only respected because of your art of sexuality or sensuality? is it alright that completely sexy and atractive woman are being knocked down because they put their talent on display before their sexuality?
and why can’t a black woman be called inteligent, educated and atractive instead of “bootylicious”or “beautiful after 11 years of career that is my problem with beyoncé …

I ‘m not knocking her down i’m saying after 10 years she should be an icon not on her way to be one… i cannot close my ears and open my eyes …. i have to listen!!!
i have respect for halle, alicia, queen latifah, tyra banks, and them because not only they have a sensuality game on lock but they are also articulate ,educated inteligent and they aren’t famous because a bunch of teenagers said so!

When i look at or listen to beyoncé i feel like she could give you the best advices on make up clothings and dances moves but she cannot give an opinion on global warming or politics , and her people wants us hell bully us into acknowledging her as the epitome of black woman
and i am not having it!

How do you feel about that ?

77. @darksista,

We actually aren’t in disagreement and my comment was not directed at you (I would have listed your name instead of Mandy’s)

I think that your viewpoint is that there is a difference between sensuality “sexy” and gratuitous sex for the sake of sex. I don’t agree with you. But although I’m not a Beyonce fan, I don’t think that she is guilty of over-the-top sex. I would reserve that judgment for lil Kim and even my favorite rapper Foxy (sometimes).

You can be sexy and classy–you can also be sexy and sexy…period. My point was that there is nothing wrong with that. Some women are just more sexually open than others, and I think they get a bad rap–I also think that many women who would like to be that free, choose instead to criticize the women because this society has taught us that “good girls” don’t love sex…and who doesn’t want to be the “better” woman?

I don’t care to see Beyonce’s constant crotch shots–but I honestly don’t think she is doing it intentionally. I think she just lacks…class, for lack of a better word, in many instances (as in home training).

Janet on the other hand is just on some “I’m grown and sexy” type of vibe, and that’s fine too.

My comment was more of a general “lets not slam other women for being free with their sexual identity, because there is a certain power in it and we would do well to embrace it.

But no sis, my comment was not against you. Nor would I tell you, or any woman, that she wasn’t “Sexy”.

I will end with this–and I’m sure the men in all of our lives will confirm this, men find cattiness, jealousy, and negative comments about other women “unsexy”. We aren’t going to like all women. There are a number of female celebs who get profiled on this site who I JUST DO NOT LIKE. Some of them I think are overrated, lack talent, and aren’t deserving of the hype they get–but you will never know who they are, because if I can’t find something nice to say about them–i just don’t say anything.

Oh, and I fully agree with you–she is not my idea of the epitome of a black woman. But I don’t think we are a monolithic group. We have a lot of diversity. So we should reject anyone’s attempt to force on us an “ideal” black woman.

BTW, I know a couple of very well-to-do, very intelligent and very fine black men who have told me that a woman’s mind is the sexiest thing they have ever seen. I respect that.

78. @darksista

Sorry–I am so long winded because I’m always afraid of being misunderstood. I think you are pointing out the difference between “sexy” and “nasty” and I agree, there is a difference. I don’t think though that either Beyonce or Janet are “nasty”…lil Kim is, but I digress. :brownsista: :hifive:

79. In Beyonce’s defense…she was much better in Dreamgirls than she was in Carmen the Hip Hopera and the Fighting Temptations. She is improving.

80. @m

I’m TRYING to be positive! :lol2: :booty: :brownsista:

81. @NEFERTARI- YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN’T GET MY POINT WHICH WAS ” HOW CAN DARK SISTA CLAIM TO LIKE THE WAYS OF JANET WHICH ARE SEXUAL BUT DISLIKE BEYONCE FOR THE SAME SEXUAL WAYS”. AGAIN DARK SIS TALKED ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE DOING ANYTHING FOR MONEY AND BEING RICH SLAVES. THE QUESTION, MY QUESTION WAS HOW THOSE COMMENTS RELATED TO BEYONCE? SO, YOUR COMMENTS ON EMBRACING SEXUALITY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TO DARK SISTA AND I SUPPOSE SHE TOOK IT AS SUCH.

82. I DIDN’T SLAM ANYONE FOR BEING FREE WITH THEIR SEXUAL IDENTITY. MY QUESTION WAS WHY WOULD DARK SISTA SLAM BEYONCE FOR HERS AND APPLAUD JANET FOR THE SAME THING.

83. The point of the matter is Beyonce Knowles is not a good actress. She is hired because of her popularity, looks and she is bankable. Once she is no longer the “it girl” of the black community, the movie scripts will stop coming in. Everybody knows she sucks as an actress. And no, she is not Halle Berry, so please stop comparing the two.

84. @mandy,

I think it is you who misread my response, but I could be mistaken. My point is that I don’t understand why any woman would be concerned with what another woman chooses to do with her sexuality except to the extent that it directly affects you or your family.

On a more personal note, I was moreover annoyed that you compared Janet to Beyonce in any way. The post was about whether or not Beyonce can act and what bearing her image as “sexy” gets her praised. What does thathave to do with Janet?

Furthermore, just because darksista likes Janet and thinks she is talented, doesn’t mean she has to like Beyonce. I think your entire comparison was a stretch.

My point was if its that she can’t act–let it be about that. If a person just hates her, le it be that, but let’s stop acting like there is something inherently wrong with being sexy.

I think you are guilty of the same thing you accused darksista of. You just like Beyonce period, so anyone who doesn’t you feel is wrong.

That’s no more rational than someone who just hates her–but at least they are honest.

For instance, I love Janet. Period. There is very little she can do that will cause me to criticize her–but I’m cool with admitting that.

On an ending note, I enjoy the interaction with most of the sisters here, but the constant bickering is on my nerves. So I’m going to start pulling back so I can stop getting upset by it. I can’t belie ve black women find so many reasons to be…catty.

85. :stop: :stop: :stop: I had to put my 2cents into this…The only reason that some folks have a problem wit mis hotpants is that she came out trying to seem all innocent(but really she never was just look at these lyrics she was singing at 15! Do you ever wonder when he
Don’t come home who he goes to see
And why in the middle of the night he leaves you alone
Leves you alone, he’s with me
Do you ever wonder when he
Don’t come home who he goes to see
And why in the middle of the night he leaves you alone
Cause everything he likes is with me
If I was in your shoes
I would have to let him know
From the first sign of him tryin’ to play
If he wants me to stay
He’s gotta let all that go
No, but no, you wanna stick around
And I believe in what you see
And while you’re waitin’
Thinkin’ everything’s gonna be okay
I’ve got ‘m, I’ve got ‘m right here with me
CHORUS
I wanna call you so bad
Tell you where we started
And what we do
How long it’s been goin’ on
Why he ain’t gonna never come home
Cause I know what you didn’t do
To make him stay
You see a bad performing
Unfulfilling woman
Drives a man away
CHORUS
Now as far as I know
He’s in good hands
So you can stop callin’ all around
Sayin’ have you seen my man, seen my man
Ain’t no need to fuss and fight
Tryin’ to make it right
Certain things ain’t meant to be
And that’s why, that’s why he’s right here with me

wow…such harsh words…
Then she goes solo(wow that was a surprise)
this a song she sings

OOH BABY
I LOVE THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL
IT SLOWS DOWN TIME
COME IN MY BEDROOM AND TURN OFF THE LIGHTS

YOU WHISPER SOFTLY IN MY EAR
MAKES ME UNWIND
THE WAY YOU TOUCH ME
LETS ME KNOW YOU’RE MINE

I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BECAUSE I LOVE THE WAY
YOU SCREAM MY NAME
AND THERE’S NO OTHER MAN
THAT GIVES ME WHAT I WANT
AND MAKES ME FEEL THIS WAY
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU BECAUSE
YOU HUSTLE HARD TO TAKE CARE OF ME
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BOY I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU

I LOVE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT ME
STARE INTO MY EYES
WHAT DO THEY SAY TO YOU
BOY DON’T BE SHY
TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT YOUR FANTASIES
WILL ALL COME TRUE
I AM YOUR WOMAN
I BELONG TO YOU

THERE IS NOTHING I WON’T DO FOR YOU
I KNOW MY SOUL CONNECTED ME TO YOU
I FEEL SO SAFE WHEN I’M ALONE WITH YOU
I’M HOLDING BACK NOTHIN
SAVING IT ALL FOR YOU
BABY I LOVE MAKING LOVE TO YOU
IT’S LIKE A HIGH I CAN’T COME DOWN FROM YOU

I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BECAUSE I LOVE THE WAY
YOU SCREAM MY NAME
AND THERE’S NO OTHER MAN
THAT GIVES ME WHAT I WANT
AND MAKES ME FEEL THIS WAY
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU BECAUSE
YOU HUSTLE HARD TO TAKE CARE OF ME
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BOY I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU

I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU OH YEA
BOY I RATHER BE WITH YOU
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU OH YEA
BOY I RATHER BE WITH YOU

I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BECAUSE I LOVE THE WAY
YOU SCREAM MY NAME
AND THERE’S NO OTHER MAN
THAT GIVES ME WHAT I WANT
AND MAKES ME FEEL THIS WAY
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU BECAUSE
YOU HUSTLE HARD TO TAKE CARE OF ME
I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU
BOY I’D RATHER BE WITH YOU

I DON’T WANT NOBODY ELSE
I’M HAPPY WITH YOU
YOU GOT ME BABY
YOU GOT ME BABY

Then she has to regroup!! and have Michelle(a gospel singer) and Kelly(a well paid sidekick) they come out wit this!!
Hey baby
I wish you could see what I have on right now
You so sexy
Imagine how intense it would be to hold me right now
Our song’s playing

[Verse 1 (beyonce)]
At night when your far and I’m alone
I feel the fabric from your t-shirt
Close To My Body…
I can still hear your baritone
In my ear telling me you’ll take it slow,
And I was in the mirror playing role
Like you were here, I couldn’t turn me on,
So I fell asleep with the music on,
Woke up again hearing the same old song, playing

[ Bridge (kelly) ]
(Oh) Give it to me deeper
(Oh) You giving me the fever
(Oh) Now you got my feet up
This one is a keeper
Now the second verse is playing
(Oh) Won’t we try to stand up
(Oh) Hold me while my hands up
(Oh) And the music picks up
Fantasies were shook up
I’m thinking to myself again

[ Chorus ]
When your not here (I sleep in your t-shirt)
I wish you were here (To take off your t-shirt)
After we make love (I sleep in your t-shirt)
Wake up in your t-shirt
[T-shirt lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

still smell the scent of your cologne
When I need your feel (I sleep in your t-shirt)
I need you help ( to take off your t-shirt)
After we make love (I sleep in your t-shirt)
Wake up in your t-shirt,
still smell the scent of your cologne

[ verse 2 (beyonce) ]
Outside, I hear the rain on my windowpane
Hold up a minute, thought I heard your name
My mind, playing tricks on me again
I hear knocks at the door, is that my baby home
Why, couldnt it be reality
Looked at the clock and it says 4:03
At 9, he’ll be arriving on a plane
Then we’ll be making love and hearing the song again

[ Bridge (kelly)]

[ Chorus ]

[ Michelle ]
Oh boy I’ve been waiting
Now my body’s shaking
You’re so deep, baby please, take it easy
I look at your face and
Got my heart racing
You’re so deep, baby please, take it easy

[ Talking (beyonce)]
Keep it right there,
Oh, wait, wait, yeah
Keep it right there
You driving me crazy

Wtf????????????????? What happened?? :noway: :noway:
YEah i have too much time on my hands right now…(i will do better!)

86. The reason Beyonce is so overrated is because she is the epitome of what white America believes a black woman should look like. At this moment, Beyonce Knowles is the whitest black women in the world and her fans and the media worship her. It is pretty sad.

87. :stop: i so don’t agree. Damn is it her fault she doesn’t resemble India Arie? Why is she less of a black woman because she is light skin? You are a clownl! The ONLY people that dog Bee is black women, I find that to be true…. She is always awarded for her talent, but black women dig and anylize her skin color, her clothes, weight, talent, it’s so sad. White America worships Janet jackson, and just a few months back they were worshiping Jennifer Hudson, now what? The whitest black women in America? She sings R&B/Pop, Dates a Rap mogul, wears weave, talks with a southern accent, has 2 black parents i still dont get it! So in my eyes u have some personal issues of this women and just like the end of your comment….U R SAD not Bee…..
:loser:

88. I watch dreamgirl this weekend i think she did aprove from all the other movie but her part is not believable. Jennifer Hudson part was so powerful and real that when she sang i mean sang u feel the goose bumps off your skin. The real part i felt from beyonce was when she sang listen. But other then that some part she look like a dear in head lights. But she going to act regardless of what anybody say. But every one going to have a opinion or a comment or a debate about this woman. But comparing her to halle barry was really out of the box.

89. Hmmmm,

I was reading the post where the sister said that her problem with B is that white America puts her up as the epitome of blackwomanhood. I think she is onto something.

Before we jump on her, consider that she isn’t saying she dislikes Beyonce, but rather that she dislikes the REASONS mainstream America glorifies her. You know what-_ I can get behind her on that. For many of us who aren’t “almost white” in terms of appearance, the idea of Beyonce as the black beauty ideal is problematic and offensive. She is right about that. And some of you sisters on here who I consider my “girls” don’t really have a valid rebuttal to this, because you have already told me that you look more like a Beyonce than a Cicily Tyson or Jennifer Hudson. So let’s be fair and acknowledge that there are different types of beauty among black women, but that white America DOES try to force their standard on us and we are right to object.

But we can’t object by getting mad at the Beyonces and Halle’s. We have to object by uplifting our own beauty.

All of that being said, that girl is trying dang hard to overcome her speech impediment and she deserves a hand for that *smiling at u.

90.
The reason Beyonce is so overrated is because she is the epitome of what white America believes a black woman should look like.

Thank you. I could not have said it better. A few months back I caught a lot of flack on another blog for saying that White People like her b/c she was light. I really meant to say the sentence above, but some how it came out wrong. I have nothing against light skin black women, heck I am but a hair darker than the lovely lady in my gravatar. I don’t hate Bey at all, but I do think she is a tad overrated, she can sing but she is mainly beauty….eye candy

91. ^^And that is her fault? Mandy, I understand where you are coming from. IMO, one does get more praise for her sexy image, while the other seems to be condemned at every opportunity for the same thing. Don’t get me wrong, I am a Janet and Beyonce fan.

92. You guys keep trying to compare Beyonce to Janet and that is where the disconnect comes in. Janets fans have been her fans for like 20 years and are pretty certifiable. Beyonce just doesn’t have that fanbase, doesn’t get that kind of support and in my personal opinion, just hasn’t earned that kind of comparison. Ask me in 10-15 years and I might give you a different answer.

93. I mean keep it real janet is 41 years old….Beyonce is 26 years old. Two totally different careers. Two different eras. I am from Houston, Beyonce is 26, I know because I was ahead of her in school (elementary). She was the very quiet little girl that was in the talent shows. You now the rest. I mean What is Bee doing that Ciara (her peer) isn’t doing? Last video I saw of Ciara she was humping a car, grinding a pole and some more! So the selective negative energy kills me. Janet had a song talking about her pierced cooch, I mean to each his own. I like Janet too but don’t sit here and act like ONLY BEYONCE is noticed for her sex appeal. God rest her soul but when Alliya sang “Rock the Boat” do you dumb asses think she was speaking of a boat? She was talking about her cooch as the boat, and rocking it was having an orgasm! The phrase knocking the man out of the boat ring a bell! Work the middle…work the middle! So this whole sexy image thing is stupid. Yes, Beyonce is sexy, you do not win grammys cause u are cute….sorry. The golden globes do not nominate u cause u are light skin. I saw Dream Girls too and guess what she played the hell out of a diana ross character. It worked…but you wanted her to fail… u looked at every facial expression etc…I still am looking for the oscar winning performance Jennifer Hudson gave…I must have seen a different movie. She was good, but damn! Keep it real!I hope that If Beyonce’ chooses to become a ballerina, painter, D.J. whatever, she succeeds! I love her motivation. I hate the fact that you pick her apart and label her with the untruths, the slave mentality, the crabs in a barrell attitude. You HATE HER but watch Flava of Love, You hate her but approve and giggle when black women are shown on TV as WHORES and ghetto as hell, YOU HATE HER but think it is cute that the tabloids ruined it for everyone when they put bee and jennifer against each other with all the lies and bull shit! The biggest black movie to be recognized in years and all I heard was Jenn was better than Bee……Sick ass society. Leave this girl alone. If u really hate her music and acting go listen to another artist and watch different movies…Work aint hard boo!

94. @obama in 2008

You need a hobby or something…you are the same person who was on the rihanna post aren’t you?

I feel you somewhat, it irritates me when people diss Janet, but I am not going to have a stroke over it. You on the other hand….
Whew.

This borders on hero worship and is really not healthy.

I also don’t think you are listening to anyone but yourself.

I’m one of the ones on here who won’t slam Beyonce, and you are getting on MY nerves. I’m done with this post.

For LaDomina and a few others on here who are young but know how to act, I’m excluding you from this comment, but some days I really wish there waas an age requirement in here.

96. No hero worship ma…i guess I am just a pretty girl who recognizes another one without throwing a hate date!

97. Most of you on here are hypocrites for real. If you’re not complaining about the white media hyping the fat black mammy character, you’re complaining that they only hype the “white looking” black chick. If you’re not complaining about the lack of roles for black women in hollywood or the entertainment business, you’re complaining that some black female entertainers need to sit down and stop working.

The fact is you are jealous of any woman’s success. If you don’t have anything nice or intelligent to say don’t say anything at all.

Ignorance is your middle name. Get off your A$$ and get a life.

98. Nobody is slamming Beyonce. But it was her attitude and demeanor during the whole Dreamgirls promotion that turned a lot of people off. Her comments about already being a star, having the nine Grammy’s, people knowing that she could sing just left a bad taste in your mouth. It was like she was pissed off because Dreamgirls was suppose to be her movie and when she didn’t get the glory and praise that she wanted; she started acting real ugly. Maybe that is why she saturated the market in 2007. It was her therapy for not getting that Oscar that she campaigned for and desperately wanted. LOL.

99. 🙄 Why does every Beyonce thread eventually degrade into a lot of immature comments and mindless bickering? Although I’m glad some people on here have it in them to try to chat instead of argue.

100. Beyonce is just like any other average Joe. When you have been working on a job for so long, you are ready to step out of your comfort zone and try something new and challenging. She has mastered the art of entertaining and making music so now she wants to do something new and challenging in the entertainment business. That is why she wants to get into the field of acting. It is not about winning an Oscar for her anymore, she just wants to be recognized as a good actress. It may take a dozen more movies and ten years from now for that to happen, but you can’t knock her for trying to reach that goal.

:brownsista:

101. **throwing up** No offense, but I’m so tired of talking about Beyonce and her success. This woman is going to do what she wants to do regardless of what people say. So many websites are talking about this woman and how she’s acting in 2 movies in one year; and the thread of comments are off the chain, too, just like it is in here. Some people like her acting, some don’t. Either way, I think people should stop popping veins over this woman and her career, looks, etc. There are too many other successful entertainers to talk about. Geesh!!

102. LMAO @ Obama 08.

I actually agree with your “crabs in a barrell” comment and how the media put Bey against Jen. Let’s be real…Oscars, Grammy’s..none of them can be broken down to a science. Jen got that Oscar because her rendition of “And I am Telling You” gave mofos goosebumps.

I like Beyonce. If you’ve ever seen her in concert – she puts on one hell of a show. Her acting is about like Halle’s was in “Losing Isaiah” – dreadful. But with more roles, she’ll improve. She’ll get her Oscar when the man is good & ready for her to have one.

I also agree that she should take a break (doesn’t she have an album coming out this summer?) Oh well, can’t knock her hustle!

103. I just want to know what is the public’s obsession with this woman that any thread about her gets so much attention whether it be positive or negative. People treat this chick like she is God’s gift. Gee whiz.

104. WOW!! Beyonce looks just like her little sister in this picture. I think this woman is fabulous and I admire her tenacity and her willingness to go for her dreams!!! It cracks me up reading the posts about why white people seem to love her. I don’t think it has ANYTHING to do with her being some “epitome” of what white folks think black women should be.

I think it has more to do with her personality, her work ethic and her tenacity.

I am not a celeb, but I have worked with a lot of people, black, white and otherwise and the majority of the white employers have been VERY good to me!! I don’t have a degree, at the last company I worked for, I went from making $8.25 and hour to being promoted to an outside sales position where I made $120,000 a year all within 3 years! I worked my butt off and got a promotion almost every six months!! My former manager who is white, made it clear to me that she saw something special in me and that she believed whatever I did, I would be a success. I don’t look white, I don’t shake my butt at work, but my employers knew that if they gave me a challenge I would meet it! I am now self-employed, and I get the same reaction when I’m out networking to build my business. It seems that Beyonce has found people who have faith in her and want to see her do well, it has nothing to do with being some “epitome” of anything!!! It has everything to do with her WORK ETHIC, and how she carries herself. We can all do this in our lives with a little effort !!!!!!!

105. Nesh Nesh I so Co sign

Momo her acting is dreadful but I just hope she get better or give it up and stay banging out those records

106. Why is it that every time we hear that Beyonce Knowles is going to be in a movie, people want to start talking about her winning an Oscar award even before they begin shooting the movie? Winning an Oscar award is not as easy as winning a BET award. The only reason Jennifer Hudson won the Oscar is because she had folks standing and cheering after she did that one scene in the movie Dreamgirls. The impact and the emotion from that one scene was amazing. Beyonce Knowles could be cast to play a cucumber and have all of five minutes in the movie and people will start talking about Oscar. What a joke. I agree with one of the previous posters, what is the obsession with this woman.

107. …..BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT’S WHY SHE WANTS TO STAR AND EXECUTIVE PRODUCE MOVIES. B ISNT DOING THIS FOR THE CRAFT…EVEN SHE SAID SHE WANTS AND OSCAR BEFORE 30.

108. Beyonce is the epitome of what a woman should be. articulate brigthr talented and a googd actress.

tasha
please leave eeyonce alone!

109. I dont know about her being articulate ? And a good actress yeah we going to let that ride……….

110. 😆 I noticed the new picture, someone out there is about to get their feeling hurt. That expression is hilarious, she looks like someone’s mean mother who didn’t feel like coming to the school to talk to the teacher…again. It’s just a funny pic to me.

111. @Tasha

:lol2: 😆 :lol2: :lol2: Girl you just made me fall out laughing! hahahahahahahahahah

Are those lyrics real? Ok, I can’t say anything because trust me, Janet’s lyrics are way more explicit but I’m laughing because you were so serious when you posted it that I could almost see you scowling at the computer :lol2:

112. Nef: i heard you

Don’t worry i rather read a book from you than argue with those half grown girls up in here
i just need this to be clear between us:
i have absolutely nothing against beyoncé or anybody else
i’m a gynecologist not an hood-rat my point is i don’t start taking my earrings off unless someone is trying to bully me into doing something, i aint having it

i love jay’s way she is just so cute and i know you know what i mean when i say that i don’t need to elaborate …
i think she is sexy and i think beyoncé is trashy and that she ultimately miss that little thing that separate a woman from a h-o called class that’s all .I don’t force anyone to agree with me
so no teenage groupies should try to force me to agree with them that’s all

And yes she did improve in dreamgirls she went from mediocre to bad but my concern as an art lover is
does she really want to be a good actress to achieve an personal ambition or does she just want more ego boosting praise?

Either way when it will be her time to go it will no one can change or predict that so it’s time to let each other breathe i never adress anyone when i come posting on a beyoncé’s post and i never respond to the ignorants answers after i pass like i said i dont share bananas with monkeys

My mama always told me when you have nothing nice to say shut the h-ell up but guess what? she beat my ass up and down and i never could shut up
and its certainely not a band of e- thugs frustrated in the middle on a acne crisis little girls that are going to stop me 😛

either way i enjoy talking to you 🙂

113. 🙄 Darksista,

I typed a whole PAGE to you and then my laptop froze. Even my blabbermouth can’t stand to type all of that again! 😡

But the short of it is PLEASE know that you and I are GOOD. I don’t think anything about you except that you are an intellligent sister with a valid viewpoint.

Also, I kind of hijacked you and Mandy’s debate for my own crusade–see I am on this whole “black women need to be freed from sexual repression crusade” and I interject it whereever I can. I’m sorry that it caused confusion with the two of you, because it really wasn’t applied to either of you–some of the comments just made it convenient and I have a goal to make that speech no less than 3 times daily.

If it makes anything more clear, I will go ahead and admit the following: I am trying very hard this year to be positive about all black women–its a work in progress. However, I’m not a fan of Beyonce. I think she is talented but I also think that she is overblown and I agree with another poster who said that it has to do with the fact that she is more in line with white america’s idea of what is beautiful. I just don’t thnk any of that is her fault.

But girl we are good. I totally understand where you are coming from and I also think that a great deal of the negativity in the post is coming from the Beyonce fans who seem to think that if anyone doesn’t think she walks on water–then they must be ugly or deformed or somehow deficient…that is just silly.

But being a Stan of another similarly situated female star–I know fans are sometimes unreasonable and silly. HEck I told my husband he better not say anything else negative to me about JAnet one day–how silly is that?

I really appreciate that you cared enough to post a message to me though rather than assume I was being negative towards you. In reality, we probably agree on more than it appears.

114.
:iagree: this post was sooooooo good i had to qutoe it just so people can read it again

115. and like many have said, some of you are hypocrites. it’s almost as if you want beyonce to be punished because she’s light skinned. i’m from the motherland (Ghana to be exact) and you would not see me complaining about another woman’s success just because her skin is lighter that mine. BLACK IS BLACK and many people forget that during the slavery years, you were CONSIDERED black even if you were half white. beyonce is just a black lady who happens to be light skinned. black people want to claim racism on everything and claim they want it to end but they do not understand that half the time, they are enhancing it. you sit behind a computer and type bs because another black woman’s skin is lighter than yours and so you hate because you believe people only love her cause of that. well, as a DARK SKINNED woman, i love her because she is tenacious AND talented. she carries herself with grace and i have NEVER seen this woman go out in public and act a fool like britney spears or paris hilton. this BLACK woman is not just representing black people in the us, but all over the world. you mean to tell me 20,000 people in ethiopia went to go see her because they only considered her skin beautiful? nelson mandella personally invited her to his house because she’s light skinned?

i think black people are more stuck on the race issue more than anyone else and it’s really sad that they are stuck on it WITHIN their own race. people fail to realize that beyonce wasn’t always this famous, what about the years when WHITE MEDIA blamed her for the dc split? what about fools like perez (who is part of mainstream media) always making fun of her? no, not all white people hold her on a pedestal and it’s really sad that some black people can’t accept her success because they can’t see part her light skin and “features.” people can say what they want, but you cannot tell me that this woman doesn’t work hard. no matter what skin color the woman is, she hasn’t done anything to deserve this hate and we should appreciate ALL black women who make an honest living having TALENT (even if it’s only in one area) instead being famous because they were on tv disgracing themselves like some of these flavor of love girls!

116. My two cents:
when people talk about sisterhood and being positive that spell nothing but bulls-hit and hypocrisie a real sister will of course uplift you, listen to you when you need her,she will reach a hand and pull your butt off the whole you dig and buried your damn self in that’s for real
but a real sister will slap the hell out of you and tell you when you are overexagerating…
Being always positive is a myth sometimes you have to be pejorative and let people know wassup

puhleez aka emmanuel the so called african girl ,tasha
sanchez,obama in 08,c,mandy,misssixty

What the phuck do you want? is it better when someone comes and say “i hate beyoncé she is such a whore phuck her”? why do you kids have such an hard time dealing with people that don’t share your opinions? and you want to tell me that yall are grown? your posts have teenagers written all over them

when you can accept somebody not cosigning you and still be cool with them that’s when you know you’ve reach self actualization
I want all of you kids to swear to your damn self that you never been on this post with or without the nickname you’re rocking right now dissin such and such celebrity? you are pathetic i have caught some of yours and you know yourselves calling rihanna untalented, and keyshia cole ugly i guess the positivity went out of the window right?

Don’t you childs know that if it wasnt for people criticizing beyoncé she would not be as popular as she is ? she isnt perfect and you know that whether you want to admit it or not! so what is the problem ?

I will pick halle berry over beyoncé even in an instant of blindness i do not find beyoncé atractive or talented or even street smart and that’s me i dont like janet ciara rihanna all of them neither but do you see me fighting with everbody and their mamas?

Yall need to get an a-ss whupping and grow the he-ll up!

You are pathetic…. this website need to be cleaned out of those uneducated roaches that comes here trying to add some salt in their pathetic lives

Beyonce dont know you love her or hate her she is still rich and she is still not sharing a penny with you get a damn life !

To nef and dark sista and all the others REAL LADIES : keep on keeping it real, stay polite, and remenber it’s not that serious also kudos for not arguing with the youngings they go crazy when they’re ignored… sad asses

117. @puhleez,

With respect I think it is only fair to say that if you are truly from Ghana, and not a product of the institution of slavery, then you don’t have the perspective of a black woman who comes from this history of the negation of black feminity. That lack of perspective and experience makes your post offensive. Imagine one of us trying tO tell you about skin bleaching in Ghana or tell a jewish woman she shouldn’t harbor emotions over the holocaust. The assault on the black womans womanhood and beauty has been a mental and emotional holocaust.

If you didn’t go through it, and have your mother and grandmother and greatgrandmother pass down their unspoken trauma, then you are, in my view, not qualified to chastise those who have been. It is wholly ungracious and presumptuous and frankly offensive.

118. I admire people like Beyonce and Halle. I bet these two women esp Beyonce are reading these sites while laughing all the way in the bank. I bet they’re saying “Hell yeah I’m still the sh*t and always will be because these b%tches on here will forver ride on my cl*t, whether they hate it or love it.

Beautiful women don’t hate on each other instead they get inspired by one another and even gives each other tips on how to stay on top of the game. Beautiful women knows the good feeling on how not-so beautiful can’t sleep, eat or breathe without worrying about the creme-of-the crop or the top b*tch.

Beyonce do your thang because when the next Black goddess come….the ugly ducklings will hate but secretly wish they were her too.

119. Obama I agree with you. Again nef you did not understand me. If I came on a janet post and said ”black people will do anything for money, that they are rich slaves and then went on talking about sleeping with bosses, naturally you would ask what that has to do with janet. Again if I applauded madonna for her sexual appeal, then dissed janet for hers, naturally you would ask ”don’t they do the same thing’? You know you would.

120. Jennifer, I’m glad you at least said you have caught some of us, not all of us dissing on a rihanna post because personally apart from a beyonce post, I don’t comment on any other post. The only post I cared to comment about was the discipline post because I thought the sales figures were low. But since you’ve educated us all, pathetic creatures, I will henceforth not respond to any bad or misled comment on a beyonce post but will do what others are doing: hate on other people’s post. Oh sorry, it is not hate. You call it not cosigning with others.

121. @Mandy

Actually–I would not argue “don’t they do the same thing” because it is a losing argument and I don’t argue to lose. Here is my point. If I am seeking to prove there is nothing wrong with Janet’s sexuality–I can’t prove that by saying “oh so what—Madonna does it too!” that only proves that I think there is something wrong with BOTH artists–and its really a childlike way of thinking, reasonintg and arguing. I would attack the premise that there is something wrong with Janet’s sexuality ,and Madonnas most likely. Because my point is not about Janet–its about the problem with repressive sexuality.

122. oh please nef, i havee no right to speak cause i haven’t been through it myself? the better question is HAVE YOU?? you are sitting here degrading a black woman for earning an HONEST living because she is light skinned. i personally think some of ya’ll are just jealous that you are not light skinned because nothing can explain why as black women, ya’ll are sitting here making hating comments towards someone within your own race. you let your hate for beyonce blind you, you want to make it justifiable so then you speak on bs like she’s only hot for white people because of her skin color 🙄

and i agree with what mandy has been saying that seems to go over some of your heads. you ARE indeed a hypocrite if you are going to sit here and talk smack about beyonce’s sex appeal then turn around and say rihanna and janet jackson are hot. i swear i came on here with rihanna wearing this dress where her boobs could barely breathe and another time where she is wearing a short ass revealing outfit and what the majority of you were saying was, OMFG, she’s so freaking hot, i want her body. how come this slave mentality didn’t appeal to her then cause it ain’t like the girl has any talent in her CHOSEN field? the same with janet, ya’ll were talking about how hot her body was (nevermind the work she has had done) when she was promoting 20y.o and on EVERY magazinge practically half naked. that must have skipped ya’ll heads, but oh i forget, the rules only change when it’s beyonce 🙄

123. @puhleez

Reading is fundamental. That is NOT what I said. If you did not understand it–then just say you didn’t understand it and ask me to explain.

WHAT I said was that IF you are truly from Ghana and are not born and bred in from former slaves in America or even Britain, then you do NOT have an understanding of the psychology and quite frankly the pathology that is really at the root of this issue. Furthermore, you are as arrogant as a non-Jew telling a Jew not to feel pain from their oppression.

I am really getting tired of people who can’t think through a post jumping up and down about issues that weren’t even the subject.

All of that being said–if you are, in fact, a descendant of the enslaved African women who have systematically had their feminity stripped from them on the basis of skin color–then you probably would have some basis for being able to say “hey sis–I know how you feel, but you can get over it…I did, let me help you”.

If you are not, then pardon my departure into crudeness, but you should STFU and stop talking down to people about psychological and historical experiences and realities that you have no direct knowledge of.

Stop talking to me if you refuse to analyze things on a reasonable level.

124. @puhleez,

You are not only irrational. You outright lied. Show me where I have degraded Beyonce on this or any post.

I said she is talented. I said her acting has improved and I said that the fact that society uses her to push an ideal onto black women is not Beyonce’s fault.

I can’t stand liars. Disagree with me-I can handle that. But do NOT lie on me.

Devilishment. That’s what that is.

125. Beyonce sorta looks like….Deena in that image. 😆

Seriously. But I can kinda see Etta…a little… 😀

126. @nefe keep on kicking that knowledge to these younging. Like alot of people on here is telling the truth. BEYONCE CAN SING AND SHE CAN TEAR A STAGE UP FOR REAL. She came upstate with destiny child i was impress with all of them. When i heard michelle sing alot of people that i sit around was like i did not know she can sing like that. As far as acting noooooooooo. But she will alway get good comment and she will always get bad comments. To me i think she do not really have a mindor her own. I think matthew her father is living through her. Alot of people is TIRED OF HER. But that part of trying to be number 1 in the industry. Like diddy said there alway someone to take your spot. Im at point with her let her live her life.BUT THERE ALWAY GOING TO BE SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT HER OR ANYONE THAT COME OUT ON THE SCENE AFTER HER. THAT WHAT MAKE THE WORLD GOES AROUND. DEBATERS (THAT MOVIES WAS GOOD TOO).

127. @Lady,

Sis I agree with you that Beyonce is a good entertainer. I’ve watched her perform on TV and Youtube and I think she is entertaining. I loved her performance of Get Me Bodied”???song???where she wore the gold robot suit. It was the sh9t and I was at home dancing and shouting at the tv “do the damn thing girl”.

I’m not a fan of hers but I can appreciate her talent. That doesn’t mean that I have to act like she walkss on water. I get happy when I see talented sisters. I do the same thing when I seeBeyonce tear it down as I do when I see Mary J. Or Patti tear it down.

I’m a fan of Janet, Lauren Hill and Patti. I actually STAN for Janet and Lauren. None of that means that I think its wrong to be light skinned (most of my family, including mother and my sons, husband etc . Are light-skinned. DUH I know they are black. If they aren’t them I’m not.
However, people are more comfortable with people who are like them. AddiTionally white America has shown us for over 400 yearas that they believe its their right to pick and choose which women among us are “beautiful”…my point is that it is in ALL of our best interest to challenge that.
I define me.
I define my idea of beauty.
I define my idea of sexy.
I define Nefertari.
Therein lies my ability to say, mean, and strut like I know that I’m the absolute shiznit.

And so all all of You. And that’s your power to either take back or to give to someone else.

I’m holding on to mine and passing a portion to as many sisters as I can.

Its all love–except for liars. I can’t stand liars.

128. Why do they keep giving this chick in movie roles? She can’t act to save her life. Oh wait let me guess, this is the role of a lifetime and she was born to play this part. Just like she said for Dreamgirls and we all know she couldn’t even back up that statement with that lack luster performance.

🙄

129. This is probably a crazy thought to share with you guys considering that you all are engulfed in this silly debate about Beyonce AGAIN ( 🙄 ), but since the topic is about her I’ll put it out there.

Sometimes I get the feeling that Beyonce’s mom [Tina] is on these post(s) commenting, too. I’ve been to other websites where this one particular person who goes under the username of yours truly “Tina” always make the most favorable comments about Beyonce as if they know her personally. The comments are usually short and sweet, but the dialogue never changes. I’ve listened and paid close attention to how Tina Knowles speak and it’s relatively close to the comments that are put out there.

There’s really no point in me mentioning this because I know that any / everyone can get online these days. But I just wanted to see if any of you other ladies (or gents) get the impression that you all are chatting (or debating, arguing, etc.) with Beyonce’s family members – instead of her fans? As much as I respect this sista and admire her for what she does and she does it, I’ve just never seen a person get so much attention in this sense where people have to comment back to back, and defend a person as if they personally KNOW her.

I’m just inquisitive right now, that’s all….

130. I think we had just better get use to it. They are determine to keep her in front of the camera at all times. Whether she can act or not. Remember when Madonna kept making movies. I am not a fan of hers but you can’t know her hustle. Her father is going to make sure she is very well taken care of and out there in everything.

I think Kelly is a much better actress but as long as she keeps letting these people guide her career she will never be more than a back up singer. And I blame her for that. She needs to look out for herself.

131. There are people on boards that defend Janet, Mariah, Kelly, Ashanti, Jay-Z, 50-cent, Fat Joe, and the late Tupac and Biggie Smalls to the death. Would you say they are related to these people too? I’m just curious that’s all 🙄

makayla aka dark sista aka jennifer the accent on the end of beyonces name is a dead give away :loser:

mandy and puleez I think your posts are relevant and agree with you :iagree:

132. She is a narccisist who does not care about the craft of acting, she just wants an Oscar. People talk about the crab in a barrell mentality, but if you can remember the white movie critcs were the first to comment on how bad her acting was even before the movie Dreamgirls came out. What was their motive for stating that they didn’t like her acting. They did comment on her beauty and said that the cameras loved her,and I will agree with that. I plan to see her movies because I want to support the other true actors work and talent.

133. SANCHEZ….
I tought beyonce’ s name was spelled with an accent?I’ M AT WORK AND THE ACCENT TOUCH DOES NOT WORK OR I WOULD HAVE SPELLED IT THE SAME WAY …i guess everybody that spell it like that is makayla dark sista and jennifer even me loool 🙄 get a life ? get a life

i won’ t watch the movie but i’ ll buy the next cd

BEYONCE IS BEAUTIFUL sanchez is beautiful NEFER IS BEAUTIFUL DARK SISTA IS BEAUTIFUL MANDY IS BEAUTIFUL C IS BEAUTIFUL PULEEZ IS BEAUTIFUL obama 08 is beautiful

THE ONLY thing that differ one from the other aint the beauty its the brain and i’ m sure the dumb asses i’ m talking about know themselves 😆

134. Sanchez, I asked a question about commentors possible relation to Beyonce out of intriguement…not stupidity. So don’t be a smart @ss about this, okay.

I know about all those artists that you mentioned – and then some – and how their fans have defended them to the dirt. But I’ve found some things (in my observation) to be a bit odd about the dialogues that take place between people when discussing Beyonce. And I’m still intrigued….

And to answer your question: Yes, I do think that some of those people who defended those artist that you mention have some sort of relation to the artist. Anything is possible.

135. RON F*ck ETH :booty: a brain is sumthin you do not have :booty:

136. Yep, that is the only reason she wants to act. She is desperate for an Oscar award. She is so delusional and has absolutley no respect for the art of acting and does not care about the craft of acting. It is all about getting a award to add to her collection.

137. 😡 I DOUBT VERY SERIOUSLY IF BEYONCE’ OR ANY ONE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MOVIE THINKS OR THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS AN OSCAR TYPE FILM.EVERYTIME AN ACTOR DOES A TYLER PERRY FILM, THEY DON’T THINK OSCAR. SHE MADE THAT COMMENT TO ANSWER A QUESTION….”WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN LIFE”? IF PEOPLE WERE NOT SO PETTY AND RODE HER EVERY WORD YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN IT OUT OF CONCEPT. WHAT ACTRESS WOULDN’T LIKE AN AWARD SOMEDAY. AND THAT IS HOW SHE SAID IT. STOP BEING PETTY, EACH TIME SHE IS IN A FILM SHE IS NOT ATTEMPTING TO GET AN OSCAR, I AM SURE IF SHE READS ALL THE NEGATIVE SHIT HER RACE SAYS, SHE IS WELL AWARE THAT SHE NEEDS PRACTICE AT HER CRAFT. GET A LIFE AND STOP THE HATE! :hater:

138. when beyonce doese something, it’s always because she’s desperate for something right? well, i hope someday i am as desperate as her because it’s paid off for her being desperate at something she enjoys doing and making millions off of it. it’s pathetic how you can sit and SAY what ANOTHER woman is THINKING and why she is doing something. perhaps if you directed all the thinking you do for bee to yourself, people would be sitting behind their computers typing about you instead you typing about beyonce. after all, if you know everything she’s doing and why she’s doing it, you ought to be able to transfer the same success she’s had to yourself!

139. It is a fact. That is all she talked about when promoting Dreamgirls. She even said it in an interview in the summer of 2006 to Access Hollywood that she is ready for an Oscar. Not even your seasoned and veteran actors and actresses make those kind of comments. They may dream of it, but they have never been as vocal as she has. She even said she wanted to be the first black woman to win an Oscar, Grammy and Tony award, which has already been accomplished by Whoopi Goldberg, so she can’t be the first. Sorry if you don’t like the fact that she is desperate for an Oscar, but she is; she said so herself.

140. IT FUNNY HOW PEOPLE CAN COMMENT ON THIS SUBJECT AND TELL PEOPLE TO STAY OFF THE COMPUTER IF THEY DO NOT AGREE OF WHAT GOING ON WITH BEYONCE. THERE IS WOMEN IN THIS WORLD IS GETTING THERE GOAL DONE BUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY AND PROBABLY BETTER THAN HER AND FULLY HAPPY ON WHAT THEY R DOING. THE DIFFERENT IS YES SHE KNOW AROUND THE WORLD BETTER THAN ANY OF US. BUT SOME PEOPLE ON HERE CAN SAY WHAT THEY WANT ABOUT HER IN A GOOD WAY AND NEGATIVE. ALOT OF COMMENT ON HERE IS SAYING SHE CAN NOT ACT AND DEEP DOWN U KNOW SHE CAN NOT, OTHER THEN THAT SHE IS A PRETTY GIRL WITH A GREAT VOICE AND CAN PERFORM. AS FAR AS ACTING NOOOOOOO. BUT LIKE I SAID SHE GOING TO BE AROUND . IF I SEE SOMETHING WRONG WITH SOMEONE IM GOING TO TELL THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH HURT WHEN U RIGHT. SO THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE THE LAST TOPIC ABOUT HER. SO STOP CALLING PEOPLE HATER. THERE OTHER SITE THAT IS TEARING HER UP. I FEEL LIKE NOBODY IS NOT TEARING HER UP ON THIS SITE. IT THE ONES THAT LOVE HER SOME MUCH COMING HERE AND JUST GETTING OUT OF CONTROL WITH IT. BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS.

141. She has also said she wanted an Oscar before she was 30 yrs old, which gives her about 3 more year to accomplish.

142. SHE GOT AN OSCAR NEFE. I THINK WHEN SHE DID GHOST. SHE WAS THANKING HIM THE OTHER DAY.

143. it is FACT that she wants an oscar, but is NOT fact that she is desperate for one. that is YOUR OPINION NOT FACT. i also clearly remember her saying on an mtv interview with sway that although she did want an oscar, she didn’t think it was possible but sh’es ambitious. go on youtube and you’ll find it.

i never said to stay off the computer, i said it’s PATHETIC that you (not pointing any fingers at anyone in particular) sit behind a computer and critize a woman for doing her job whether it’d be this blog or any blog. i can’t believe you think it’s okay to call her all kinds of names and insult her and her family at times because other blogs do it (this is directed towards anyone who feels this way and not just one person). at least she’s ambitious and is going after what she wants in life. i guess if you can’t admire that and would rather pick out all her faults, then it’s on you. i’m done with this topic!

144. Yep, Whoopi Goldberg won a Grammy in 1985 for best comedy album and she won a Tony award for directing a musical. She also has an Emmy and Golden Globe award.

145. No other topic on BS can go on this long! It’s just something about Beyonce. We can truly see she was born to be a star. Folks can’t stop talking about her whether positive or negative! She is a true example of what hard work, believing in yourself, luck, and following your dreams can do for you.

146. Yeah… Roneth beware… of the sneaky dark sista and sleep with one eye open
i have 1.000.000 of personalities that all spell beyoncé’s name with an accent
i can be everywhere at anytime beware….
Lmao

Nefer are you african or so? and please dont argue with the kids they just want to have an other reason to say “whoa look beyoncé has 100 and so posts she is so popular” as if the more people talk about you the more talented you become don’t waiste your precious time on the babies they have a long way to go and a lot to learn about life… and they need atention obviously …

147. @darksista

I’m born and raised in Ohio sis. My parents are from New York (dad) and Lousiana(mom) I know a few folk on here who are just BEGGING for a good ol fashioned Louisiana voudou paquet ( trust me mama Tina’s root box aint got nothin on me :lol2: ) . I’m JOKING JOKING JOKING…I don’t need anybody to get scared and start mailing me holy oil and bibles—it’s a joke.

Anyway, I call myself African to the extent that all of us (black folk in the US) have African ancestry, but I’m American born and bred. :brownsista:

148.
Yep, Whoopi Goldberg won a Grammy in 1985 for best comedy album and she won a Tony award for directing a musical. She also has an Emmy and Golden Globe award.
Thank you for that information! I didn’t know that. I don’t alway agree with some of Whoopi’s public statement, but she played the MESS out of that Celie role and she deserved an Oscar for that as well.

149. @puhleez :stop: :loser: :hmph:

You lied on me and didn’t apologize so trust when I say that everytime you open your mouth on here–I’m going to be in your a$$. I do not appreciate liars. I might pull out that rootbox after all. 😡

150. ^^please refresh my memory on what i lied about and why i would lie to someone on a freaking blog? i purposely ignored you because it is clear that we were not going to agree on anything.

:lol2: at me lying about myself and people taking my opinions as lies. lawd, what has this world come to?

151. @puhleez

I’m convinced now that you are just slow…

You said “please nef, i havee no right to speak cause i haven’t been through it myself? the better question is HAVE YOU?? you are sitting here degrading a black woman for earning an HONEST living because she is light skinned.”

I defy you to go back through my posts and find any evidence that I degraded Beyonce. I have been defending her irrespective of whether or not I believe she can act.

You lied, and lying comes so easily to you, that you don’t even notice when you do it.

That is disgusting. Liars just disgust me. No reason for it. It is devilish.

152. ^^after this i’m going to ignore you because i think you are bored with your life and want to pick a fight with someone behind a computer. that or you are just one of the many psychos i’ve encountered over the internet. have a nice life and while you are it, look up the meaning of the word degrade.

once again :lol2: at you taking my posts personally and wanting an apology for MY personal opinions :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

peace out :loser:

153. You not only lie, but you are delusional and lack reading comprehension skills. All of that says “little a$$ girl” who coincidentally needs hooked on phonics.

YOU don’t know what degrade means. If you knew how to use the word, you would not have misused it.

You are from Ghana my a$$. I notice you never challenged that. So tell me, what is your ethnic group in Ghana and from what part? What is your native tongue? Can you tell me the name of the current president and of the royal head of state? Lying, making up names, and poor reading comprehension. Disgusting.

I don’t want your apology silly little girl. I just wanted to point out that you are a liar and a lunatic in a way that would draw attention to it.

You are, I am sure, the same one who is all over the Rihannah posts showing your ass.

It’s not personal. I hate liars GENERALLY. I consider them snakes. So its just a general disaste for a lying , silly,
slithering ignorant person—i.e. you.

154. @ you “ignored me” because your hooked on phonics backwards reasoning couldn’t touch me. IF your scared, get a dog. :booty:
Silly slithering snake.

155. @Nef- The question is do you think janet and beyonce express their sexuality in terms of their music in similar ways? If yes, would you now say it is childish to point it out to someone who applauds janet for her sexuality and slams beyonce for hers? They all after all do the same thing.

156. What I’m trying to drive home isn’t that ”Janet does the same thing, so why call beyonce’s own trashy”. My point is HOW DO YOU APPLAUD ONE BUT THEN INSULT ANOTHER FOR VIRTUALLY THE SAME THING”. You also didn’t address the comments about ”BLACK PEOPLE DOING ANYTHING FOR MONEY AND BEING RICH SLAVES” which was said by your friend and was directed at beyonce. On the contrary you claimed I was sexually repressed for WHAT REASONS YOU HAVE YET TO SAY. I can’t be sexually repressed just for saying janet and beyonce in terms of their sexuality express it in the same way, or can I? So please tell me what you make of the dark sista comments, which was what I typed about, and not SEXUAL REPRESSION

157. Mandy,

I am not going to continue to repeat myself. I have said the exact same thing a bijillion times on this post. I don’t think Beyonce OR Janet should be criticized for their sexuality or sexual images. I don’t think either one of them are over the top in that regard. I also stated more than once that my sole reason for responding in you and darksistas thread was to get my soapbox anti-repression issue out onto the table.

There are a number of people in this thread who do not have adequate reading comprehension skills. I’m sorry–but that’s just the truth. A number of people read things and come out with something entirely different. I can’t help you with that, but I will tell you that those skills are going to hold those people back in the workplace.

I have stated numerous times in this post that I think Beyonce is talented and a good entertainer. I don’t know what else you want me to say. What I WON’T say is that everybody has to be her fan or they are a hater–that’s just stupid. I don’t say stupid things.

I’m not responding to anymore of this. Read the posts.

158. WOW!! Nobody can blow up a thread like Beyonce!! NOBODY!! Where do I begin?… Let me first preface my comment by saying I am a Beyonce fan to the 10th power. I admire her work ethic, artistic creativity, vocal ability, business sense, AND the fact that she writes, and produces the majority of her music. I think she is deserved of all the accolades she has obtained and she is a force to be wreckoned with from hither to fore.

Having said all that, I’m a little nervous for her on this one. I love, love, love her as a musical talent and entertainer. Her acting…not-so-much. While she has come a long way from her debut performance in Carmen the ‘hip-hopera’, in my opinion she still has a way to go. Let’s just keep it real. Angela Basset, Halle Berry, Vivica A. Fox, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Kimberly Elise, Cicely Tyson, Philicia Rashad, even Oprah, comes to mind when I think of great black actresses in the last 20 years. Beyonce Knowles just doesn’t role off my tongue. I mean this with the greatest respect as a die hard fan too. I’m rooting for her, but I’m still a little nervous. My fear is that after several movies and endless typecasts, she is still not really respected as an actress. With her having her hand in so many aspects of the production, direction, and so forth, I fear she will really take a bit hit if she is not successful in her endeavors. Again, I hope she proves me wrong. I would love for her to make everyone eat their words, including myself. Good luck B!! She always comes out on top, it’s just a matter of time. I just hope it’s sooner, rather than later. Hollywood can be very unforgiving, especially for a Brownsista!! Just look at how they tried to dog out Janet after her debacle.

159. either way she is still going to get ridiculized on this and on the ettah james movie point blank us arguing and people name calling will not change her bad acting, poor speech and lack of personality it’s not gon take her stage presence or her money away neither so get over it

160. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
LOL.

:lol2:

161. What difference does it make. Both movies are going to flop regardless if Beyonce is in them or not. Nobody gives a rats butt about freaking Cadillac Records and how many times has the plot for this Obsessed movie been featured. The only way both movies will get attention is if Matthew Knowles pays billions to promote the movie and shoves it in our faces. Just like anything that features the name Beyonce Knowles. People treat this woman like she can walk on water. There are plenty of talented and gifted sisters out there who have drive and ambitions. But for some reason folks just love to ride Beyonce’s coat tail. Give me a break.

162. Ladylee, I like your post and I agree with every bit of it.

163. You guys are hating on beyonce come on she is perfect! she was singing better than mariah carey when she was only 2 and she outsold alicia keys, tina turner and all

the only reason why she did not win an oscar or an oscar nomination is because people are extremely jealous of her… she is the best at everything but she is the most beautiful woman on her so everyone hates on her!!!!!

come on she walk on water and she does not have to bleed every month like every other women she wakes up with fresh breath and the fact that she made money and got famous only because of her solo carreer(she never been in a group or anything to gain recognition) her parents didnt have to be involve in her carreer she did it all by herself she is a an honnest person and its not like she ever took credit from anyone’s else work, she also graduated from college with a business master degree , her speech is always on point and she never says anything out of line

so stop hating on her!!!!!!!!! haters… she is richer than you so she is better point, when you make as much money as her you can talk …

dont you know that money makes you a great person don’t you know that??
beyonce is a saint ! jay z is a saint! hell tony montana was a saint !!!

Haterz!

164. Tina,
Thanks, just speakin’ my peace sista!! Be Blessed.

165. @ Nef I think when someone types ” If you are one of those women who have been repressed sexually, it is best you seek help and not project that self repressive mentality on to others”, the person is suggesting I am sexually repressed. Didn’t you write this after my first post. In what way did my first comments have anything to do with sexual repression. You are right. Some people don’t have adequate reading comprehension skils. Why else will one respond to a comment which read ”janet and beyonce in terms of their music express their sexuality in similar ways so why applaud one and insult the other for the same thing” with a comment clearly stating that I was sexually repressed

166. Mandy,

There is no comment that “clearly states that MANDY is sexually repressed”. I don’t know you so I could NOT have been saying “Mandy YOU Are sexually repressed. If the way that I said what I said made you feel that way, then I sincerely apologize.

I have said 3 times now that I used you and blacksistas debate as an opportunity to get my “anti sexual repression message out”. I used it because you brought into the equation Janet’s sexual image vs. Beyonces. I also said to you that the two should not be compared. My comment was a general one and it was in response to the discussion turning to a debate about which one of the two women is more or less overtly sexual. I can’t keep repeating this because it is too aggravating.

It is enough for me to acknowledge that at least one person (you) misunderstood and so I offer my apology for bringing about that misunderstanding.

I do not have to agree with your position on Beyonce. Nobody does. Not even blacksista. You don’t have to agree with anyone’s position on Janet or Beyonce. And its still OK.

167. SORRY VOICE NOBODY IS NOT PERFECT AT ALL. YOU KNOW SHE IS NOT PERFECT BECAUSE IF SHE WAS SHE WOULD NOT TO ACTING LOL. BUT THAT YOUR OPINION AND I KNOW U GOING TO STICK WITH IT.

168. @voice and lady

I think voice was being sarcastic. It worked. I read this early this morning and when I got to the end I just fell out laughing. Voice that’s a great way to bust up the tension. You are too funny!

169. :iagree: :iagree: Janet’s lyrics are way more explicit….but my point was that she didn’t try to come off like she was all inocent and was lying the whole time :booty: :booty: :booty:

170. Sorry ladies, Nef, and Mandy,

Please excuse me for interjecting in your little row, but I simply could not resist. Just a quick little comment, if I may, then feel free to ‘have at it’ with each other.(smile) The difference between Janet and Beyonce, in my humble opinion, is Beyonce’s ‘sexuality’ is only exhibited on stage. It’s part of her STAGE persona. We know NOTHING of her private sexual life. She does not discuss it, and we rarely hear anything about her other than things pertaining to entertainment and business related issues. For all we know, she could be a bigger freak than all of us put together!! It’s the QUIET ones that you gotta wonder about. (hee-hee) Thus far she has yet to offend anyone on a grand scale, and she is thought of in a different light, relative to Ms. Jackson. Having said that, one doesn’t have to be better than the other. Let’s just except that they are two completely different people, with different outlooks on things, and they are both a force to be wreckoned with in the industry. Now, please continue your lil’ debate. It’s entertaining, and each of you have some valid points.

171. @nefe i got it lol what she saying. I read her comment so fast because in at work lol. I got you voice 🙂

172. Sorry nef, I didn’t mean to attack you in any way. LADYYLEE- i agree with you. I was just upset that dark sis called beyonce’s sexual appeal trashy and then went on to claim she will do anything for money and how she’s a rich slave meanwhile she had applauded janet jackson’s on a previous post and that for me sounded hypocritical and biased. Again nef, my apologies but it’s clear you just didn’t want to get on the bad side of dark sista, so you called me out instead. You clearly stated to mandy and others when you typed your reprehension speech. Go back and read it. How is that general?

173.
Sorry nef, I didn’t mean to attack you in any way. LADYYLEE- i agree with you. Mandy,

I fight for a living. I don’t have a problem getting on anyone’s bad side when I fight–I’m an attorney for an oil company (with high gas prices everyone hates me) and in the years prior to that I was a death penalty attorney handling appeals for convicted murders and other really bad types (so I’m used to arguing with people who hate me…). That being said, I didn’t seek to avoid “getting on the bad side of darksista”. I chose to go after you, because you brought Janet into it. And as I keep saying, I stan for Janet. :brownsista:
I’m sure you understand that–since you Stan for Beyonce.
Either way, I’m glad its cleared up. It wasn’t personal from my position. Thanks for your understanding.

174. I do stan for beyonce, and I now understand you, but I did not really say anything against janet except the singing part, I guess. Again my apologies.

175. @Mandy,

My apologies as well. I’m not upset about you defending Beyonce. I also defend people who I like. For instance, I like Darksista. I understood her frustration. I understood what she was relating to us but I also know that black people are not really ready to have that conversation–as badly as we need to have it.

I understood your frustration as well because I knew that I wasn’t fighting fair since my reasons weren’t entirely transparent. In my replies, I was saying “I think Beyonce is talented” as much for your benefit as that of whoever I was answering in the hopes that you would realize I wasn’t dissing Beyonce–or you for liking her.

The silliness of all of it didn’t hit me until Voice’s post. I read it this morning and had a good laugh–at myself. 😐

They ALL (our stars who we stan for) have cramps every month just like we do. Get bloated and feel puffy and fat during PMS. Have bad hair days and dumb arguments. She put it in perspective. Thanks Voice.

Thanks Mandy

176. To voice

How sarcastic
Beyonce can walk on water and she doesn’t bleed once a month. She is like no other woman.

177. @Ladylee

Sorry sis, you will have to excuse me if I don’t join in the festivities. I don’t like fighting with you sisters (and you couple of supportive brothers 🙂 on this list. I prefer to save all of my fighting for the courtroom where it can get nasty and its still Ok because at the end of the day–you just did your job, it wasn’t personal. With people,it is personal, and I don’t like to hurt or diss anyone. Sometimes I do, and I shouldn’t. Sometimes, they had it coming, and I still wish I hadn’t. Anyway, when you do something for a living–it isn’t entertaining. I would rather have fun, make jokes and laugh with all of you than argue.

BTW, when I fight outside of court, I curse like a sailor—with a high tweety bird voice and new englander diction–the effect is a lot of fun…relieves stress. But I will refrain from cursing at people on here as best I can. :brownsista:

178. Aaawww…I feel all warm and fuzzy inside! I can feel the love again. You guys give me something to look forward to whenever I get an email for a new post. I’m home all day, (stay at home mom), and I enjoy everyone’s blogs. I don’t like it though when it gets mean and nasty. I think it’s mostly the really young people (under 18) that tend to make personal attacks. I hold nothing against anyone. We all live and learn.
I’m glad we can get back to the business at hand. Has anyone heard of an upcoming album from Beyonce? I can’t seem to find out anything. I’m still kicking myself in the head for missing her last concert that came to my town with Destiny’s Child. (I was working at the time and couldn’t get off) I thought she was suppose to have a cd coming out in 2008. Anybody know anything?

179. Ladylee,
Please do feel the love. 🙂 But maybe your right most of the people on this board are young. But I’m not under 18 and trust me when I say I’ve had my time with people on this board with talking about Beyonce. Love her but some things I do and don’t agree with. But Love her as an artist. I’m so waiting for her next album too. I just think she should chill with the acting and give us HITS! My thoughts. 🙂

180. Rodney Jerkins, in an interview, said it could possibly be released during the final months of this year. Apparently he, the freemasons and timbaland have been working on it since NOV 2007.

181. S. Dot,

OKAAAY! I’m cool with the acting too. I ashamed to say this, but I STILL haven’t seen Dreamgirls all the way through. I bailed out when B came in the frame. I’m SOOO ashamed!! I’m suppose to be her #1 fan!!! I just couldn’t stomach it. Just curious, what don’t you like about her? I’m tallking purely from an artist point of view, not HER personally.

182. HIP HIP HOORAY!!! I can hardly wait for her to break us off a lil’ somethin’ somethin’. If she releases it that late in the year, doubtful she’ll be eligible for any Grammy nods for 2008. It’ll be interesting to see what Rodney and Timberland come up with, with her. Thanks for the heads up, good lookin’ out.

183. I love love love her voice. I love her range and how she take risk with it. I have never ever heard her sing a bad song. NEVER! In concert nothing. I love her delivery of a song. Fast or slow. I feel like she’s doing she means every every word. I love her upbringing and her family values too. Not saying it right or wrong but “I” like what I’ve seen and heard. But I hate saying that on this board at times because it’s a fight fight fight. Now saying I like everything she does. Beyonce does have flaws and I see them but she is human and I understand that. Media and a lot of people don’t and they wait for her to fall or just do something stupid. Where I feel, she’s human and will make mistakes, and because she’s a celeb her mistakes are going to be on every web site or news. Plus I’m very openminded to things and I understand that we are born to make mistakes. Feel me!

184. nef: Voice is my little sister she is curently living with me funnier than her you can jump off a bridge lol she said all of that to me before posting it and she did it with a “white girl” voice twisting her hair and stuff i was dying… but when i really read it minus a couple of things beyonce stans feel that way.. that she is better than everyone else! and until they learn that she is not there will be fights every time her names comes out aint it sad tho?

185. Anyway to close my posts in here i’ll say this :
“Sometimes when you do too much you lose everything”
that’s all

186. Dark Sista,
I have to agree with that too.

I feel both sides of the fence, and the reason why is because it’s the truth.

Like I said she should just stick with Singing and it’s not for everyone. Or she should just take 2 to 4 years to grow and learn the art of being an actress. I’m sure she don’t have people around her saying Bee that was bad or No you shouldn’t do this or that. That’s where I think fustration comes in to play.

187. S. Dot,
I agree with you. I TOTALLY love her voice!! I love that she sings from the bottom of her gut with sooo much passion and conviction. She has an UNBELIEVABLE octive range, and she is in complete control of her God given instrument. She carries herself as a young lady, and she is wise and mature beyond her years, in my opinion. Seemingly, she is aware of those that paved the way for her. She is well versed in a variety of different music styles, artists, and genres. I respect her as an artist more than I have time to type. If that makes me a ‘STAN’, so be it. Did you also know she can paint!!? I’ve never seen any of her pieces, (again, she’s on the low low). I have only heard her mention it a couple of times in interviews. I am dying to know what her paintings look like. The only person I put on a pedastool is Jesus, so haters, please don’t start. I think highly of Ms. Knowles as an artist, and entertainer. At the same time, I realize she is just a woman. A special woman,… but still, JUST a woman.

188. I don’t like beyoncer i’m not going to break it down in a two pages essai that is going to result in”you’re a hater” ima make it simple

i don’t think she can sing that well unless its against the below average singer chick e.i : rihanna,j.lo,britney, cassie because when i real singer comes along she gets nervous and we all know what i’m talking about

And the acting …..

I die laughing when people says “its not like she is out there doing drugs” that’s true

but she dress and dances like a hooker, she has poor speech and poor grammar, she steal people’s ideas and work and then correct it as soon as she gets caught but black people love to compare her to them white lost girls its hilarious like those girls that says”my boyfriend is in jail for stealing, BUT HE AINT THAT BAD its not like he killed someone” bad is not better than worse remenber that ! wake up black people

Oh and also sans vouloir ofusqué
i think if beyoncer could paint she would flaunt it to the world
“i’m already a star everyone knows i can sing i’ve won 9 grammys”
“people think that just because i’m a huge superstar i can’t take a back seat and let someone else shine”

189. hey nef and s.sot how yall doing?:)

im serious about the post before i’m keyshia my alter ego LAqueisha wrote what i wrote up there

Yall know what i think about beyoncé she is perfect better than all of her fans mother she is the most talented person on earth and she never ages she never will

so stop hating LAqueisha!!!!!

ps: we are two different people

190. hey nef and s.sot how yall doing?:)

191. @Nefertari I totally agree with you when you say sometimes you wish there was an age limit for posting to this site. However, I have definitely had my share of debates with people about Beyonce who definitely had no respect for my opinion. And that was all due to their reading and comprehension skills like you stated above. And the sad part is one of them is over 30. But then again sometimes it’s not about the age it’s about being mature mentally. Then to add insult to injury one of them kept posting under alias names and even stooped as far as to use my screen name. But it’s good that you all could work out your differences on this topic. And I agree Beyonce is not a good actress but her acting skills have improved.

192. @ Darksista I agree spreading yourself too thin will ultimately damage your career. It’s better to shine at one thing than to be dull at many things. Voice you are funny but I feel you. How are you and Darksista doing? Congratulations to both of you on becoming a new mother and aunt.

193. I agree that there are people on this board that are childish. I too had my share of debates with people over my opinion. And I too, had someone who went as far as to use my name to post ridiculous comments and use several aliases to get their points across.

But I laugh it off because I would never bust a vein over anyone’s comments or take it too seriously. It’s a dang on blog for goodness sakes :lol2:

194. Real Talk, may I ask who the woman in your avatar pic is? I try to view the pic but it comes up way too small for my tired eyes 😆

195. That kinda looks like an old Whitney picture. It looks nice from what I can tell, whoever it is. Who has the link so you can post your pics up? Nefertari told me she got it from Stephanie a long tome ago. Does anyone have it? I wanna put up an avatar too, I feel left out. 🙂 Besides, I don’t like having a giant BS next to my blog!! Makes me think of something else…

196. ^^Thanks, her hairstyle is giving me ideas 😀 ROFL@ the big BS 😆 I think Stephanie posted a link for the gravapics in the Admit It Day post. I think you can do a search for ‘Admit It’ and find the post there, the link will be near the bottom of all the posts.

197. Hey real talk
aint it ridiculous you mention someone using your screename and as you get a feedback right away you are stalked girlfriend watch out! lool

198. Sick Of It,
Thanks! I’ll try to see if I can hook up an avatar. What’s this about screen name idenity theft!?! That’s a pity. Has it come to that?!? 🙁 Anyways, I’m signing off for the night folks. Until next time…..

199. Good morning sick if it all they are right that is Whitney Houston and Stephanie can help you with properly posting your picture

200. @ Voice LOL you are so right it is childish and ridiculous and you are right the guilty party always responds first and fast: lol2: As a matter of fact the guilty party has just revealed themselves on this post: lol2:

201. Ladylee,

We are one in the same with how we feel about Bee.

Honestly Real talk we had our diffrneces straight up, some of the stuff you say about most of these topics. Keep doing what your doing and don’t worry about the hater post. I’m quit sure your can handle it.

Des, Love ya!! You keep doing you!!!! 🙂

202. What’s your take on Beyonce and other people, artists in particular, wearing fur? I’m no vegan, or vegetarian. I eat seafood, and chicken. I also wear leather, and I have a domesticated pet. (bird) I think we are at the top of the ‘chain’, and people have been wearing fur since the caveman days, so I’m not really offended by it. Beyonce, JLo, P Diddy, and many others’ have been under fire for their participation with furriers. Jay-Z recently was said to have dog fur on his RocaWear clothing. ( I do disagree with that. Dogs are a domesticated and well loved pet in the U.S.)
Beyonce was ambushed by PETA a while back, as you can see on YouTube. What do you think about all this?

203. Thanks Real Talk! 🙂

You’re welcome Ladylee 😀

204. I applaud the good negresses on this site who think beyunce should quit and stop hoggen up the attention success and money meant for good white folks who does this nhigga bitche think she is? At lease you know your limitations and your place on the welfare or unemployment line because your race teaches you that hardwork is a bad thing. You go to work late and leave early. This nhigga hore just keeps going like a energiza koon rabet. if she keeps this up little nhigga girls will think they have the right to think big. you is my iodols voice an darksister the only ones on this planet making sense.

205. @ Voice. She has been represented all black women to the fullest. And I am so proud of her. 🙄 She has been nothing short of perfection. You forgot to mention that she has never had plastic surgery on her nose, lips, or breasts. All naturaaal  she just has those european features that all black people love and want. I mean have. Oh and you forgot to mention that she is not getting Hydrogen Injections. She would never do that. Ya know, when I grow up I want to be just like her.  I also want my family to start pulling their weight and start telling me what to do and that includes my boyfriend. Why should I have to do all this thinking for myself. She has a point, darn it!!! Because I’m pretty too and that should be all that I need to contribute. And since I wanna be her, maybe I should just I just keep stealing…Well, I mean practice all the things that make me just as original as she is. Okay, this is where I can get it started. :dance1: and :dance2: should get it. After all It’s been working for her. And I love her to pieces. And last but not forgotten. @ Nefertari. I’m deep in the heart of gumbo and voodoo. Cher, Maybe you and I could work a little somethin’ somethin’ out for the brain-washed stans. 😎 LOL. I’m just kidding. I’m just kidding. I live a God fearing, blessed, happy life. Really…No time for that. :brownsista:

206.
@ Voice LOL you are so right it is childish and ridiculous and you are right the guilty party always responds first and fast: lol2: As a matter of fact the guilty party has just revealed themselves on this post: lol2:
:lol2: :lol2: and it’s always the guilty, over-sensitive, extremely judgmental hypocritical ones who eat lunch alone at work that try to point fingers at other sistas because they are extremely paranoid :lol2: :lol2: Ms. pot calling the kettle black :lol2: :lol2: Your past on here is not sqeaky clean, so don’t start with your old antics :lol2:

Some people on here cry like a big baby and pop a pain or when people address their opinions and posts, but they are the same ones to criticize other sistas or brothas for theirs. Most of you in here do it! Take your over sensitive A$$ some place else if you can’t handle it or don’t confront other people, period

Speak your peace, S. Dot!

207. I am now convinced that at least 50% of the people on this blog are using multiple names and having conversations with themselves… :hmph: :noway: Too much time on your hands. Bizarre…. 😐

208. Nef : 😆 :lol2:
c&c
I’m with you black women were born to be pretty and good entertainers.Ph-uck all those lawers, docters, professors, architecte, and engineer black women they all live on well fare, phuck them all the entertainment business is the only door open to black women so we shall all stop what we do and apply to american idol or audition as video models i’m going to drop out of school right away and do that 😉

209. @ Nef you are so correct :hifive: “they are having conversations with themselves” :lol2: and they do a good job like Voice stated of always responding first and fast. It’s amazing no specific names were called in my above post but some people specifically felt the need to single themselves out. Hmmm speaking of being over sensitive it sounds more like guilt. And if you pay attention the person with alias names always respond back with anger, cursing, and hate in their posts. The way to deal with them is to talk around them and ignore them because it’s obvious they are trying to start trouble 🙂 What’s with all the hate and over sensitivity? But as Darksista said, “I don’t share bananas with gorillas.” :hifive: And for the record I will continue to post on this site. And if anyone does not agree with my opinion and feel the need to be hypocritical, lie on me, use alias names, and curse at me then it sounds like they have personal issues they need to deal with 😉 . Having different opinions and ideas is what makes the world go around 🙂 .

210. Uh, I just wanted an answer to MY question. It seems the claws have come out again. I came in the middle of a bunch of Tomfoolery. Well, I gotta get ready for church, I’ll check in with you guys later…..
Hey, did anybody see Mariah replace JJ on SNL? I fell asleep and missed it.

211. @Ladylee, I saw her (mariah)…it was really not good…she has a beautiful voice but something wasn’t working last night. They removed it from youtube.
