Bianca Lawson Joins ‘Queen Sugar’ Cast

BIANACA LAWSON JOINS QUEEN SUGAR CASTActress Bianca Lawson has been added to the cast of the OWN original series Queen Sugar. The show is based on the book of the same name and centers on the lives of three sisters tasked with running the family sugarcane business after the family matriarch passes way.

As previously reported, Rutina Wesley has already been cast to play the role of one of the sisters; Nora, a New Orleans based activist and photo-journalist.

Bianca will play the role of Darla, the ex-wife of Ralph, the only male sibling in the family. They share a six-year old son together; whom Ralph has custody of because of Darla’s battles with drug addiction.

Queen Sugar goes into production this month, with shooting to take place on location in Louisiana and California.

Bianca can presently be seen on the original AT&T series Rogue, starring Thandie Newton. Her previous credits include Witches of East End, Teen Wolf, The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

  1. Congrats to her and to Ava and to the author for seeing this work in another medium. I tried reading the book but was sick and so my concentration wasn’t where it should have been. I’ll have to try again before the movie comes out.

  2. Im excited to see who they cast in the role of the other sisters. I hope this will be as good as The Women of Brewster Place.
