Blaque Together Again

blacque.thumbnail Blaque Together Again Where have all the girl groups gone? Apparently sensing a need to answer that question, T-Boz of TLC, is hoping to revive the genre by producing a reality series starring the group Blaque. Way back in the late 90′s I believe, Blaque was the brainchild of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and she modeled the group after TLC. Unfortunately, like alot of girl groups from the 90′s, Blaque’s time together was short lived. Natina departed the group in 2003 and was replaced by Erica Pullins, though she never made an official debut with the group. Shamari signed with Darkchild and was suppose to release an album in 2006 but that didn’t pan out either. Now the group has reunited is hoping their reality series, “Blaque By Pop Demand”, will spark an interest in them once again.

Rumor has it that the show will be populated with cameo appearances, by Ronnie DeVoe of New Edition ( husband of Shamari Fears ), Kurupt ( ex-fiance of Natina Reed and father of her son, Trent ), T-Boz, and Da Brat.

No air date for the series has been released, and for those of you who have no idea who Blaque is, check out the video for their single “808″ below.

1. Damn i did not know my man was married 2 one of the girls from blaque. Love you ronnie devoe. I have to see how this going to pan out.

2. There group was cool. They could actually sing and dance. I just don’t want them to try to be like TLC. They are grown women. I hope they come with their own flare and style.

3. I never really liked that 808 song that much though. They have some other good songs.

4. They are too old now and the industry will never give them another chance. I would however like to see more girl groups. I miss Envogue, TLC, Jade and SWV.

5. “As if, I’m ever gonna take you back, As if, It’s ever gonna come to that…” Blaque brings back those “Bring it On” movie memories. I used to somewhat like Blaque, not sure what this will do for them, though. Reality television hardly helps a comeback as much as a decent single does. For references to that claim, see: Various VH1 shows that reunite bands/duos/groups.

6. 808 was my jam back in college.

7. :iagree: with Tedra. They are too old now and I don’t think people are into groups any more. I liked the songs 808 and “I Do”

8. I feel so bad for T-Boz and Chili. It seems like they’re never gonna recover from Lisa’s death, even producing other people. Whatever happened to the girl from their reality show “R U The Girl?” What was her name? Krispie or somethin? Nothing ever materialized out of that. And then I heard Chili was supposed to be doing something on her own. But we see that aint happened. I’m sorry, but if a well established, multi-platinum group can’t even bounce back, then I don’t see much hope for Blaque.
But, the way the industry is now, you never know…

9. Nia who is your gravatar? Holly Robinson?

10. I LOVED Blaque. :brownsista: but they couldn’t sing live  I remember them on The Soul Train Awards or something and the lead singer sounded winded and weak. But on the flip, I loved the video for “808″ and I loved their song with N’SYNC or JC Chasez… “Ooh baby bring it on to me…don’t need no fancy cars or diamond rings…” LOVED THAT! And that record really displayed how JC is a better singer than Justin….yup, I said it! LOLOLOL God bless ‘em with the comeback. I loved them back in the day and 702 and hell, even Mariah Carey’s protege group Allure…I thought those chicas could sing, all of ‘em! And they were so very pretty. Maybe girl groups CAN make a comeback? You think so? What girl groups are out now? Oh yeah, Pussycat Dolls and…well, just them. Nevermind

No…Eva

12. I liked them. Best wishes

13. I liked them back in the day. What happen to those good ole girl groups from back in the 90′s. But using a reality show to get back in the game, I don’t know. It works for some but not all.

The music industry has changed for the worse when it comes to the ladies. Thanks to Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles, the Pussycat Dolls and Rihanna, you have to be slutty and sleazy to even get exposure. Who cares if you can sing and write songs. It sucks, because so many good singers are getting over looked because they don’t fit the image that these ladies have created.

Wow, I didn’t know Ronnie Devoe was married. He is like the one New Edition member who is always missing in action.

14. I agree with Chey. The girl groups in the 90s rocked. They were real singers. Envogue was one of the most captivating girl groups of them all. They were classy and they ALL could sing. They took turns singing the lead and made each song unique. Dang, we really need that again.

I’m rooting for Blaque. I like them from the Bring It On movies as well. LOL.

Yes, yes and yes. And then there was TLC. A group that I absolutely loved. Each girl from TLC brought something different to the table.

The girl groups from the 90’s were just that, groups that could bring down the house with their singing and they were classy. You didn’t have one that was trying to steal the spotlight from the others.

16. everyone wants to come out with these reality shows, the sad part is we have enough reality shows that are not scripted on 3,6, and 10( those are the news stations in Philly) its more pressing things to worry about and focus on instead of these has been celebs who have nothing else better to do but keep everyone in the private lives, as if we dont get enough of their business on TMZ,ACCESS HOLLYWOOD and all of these other tell all your business stations…. btw I will be looking at I love New York… I know what I just said but I cant help but watch that idoit and all of the gay men on her show.. now that’s funny!

17. LMAO ni-ni…. The men on I Love New York are gay, and New York and her Mom are MEN. hahahahaaaaa. :lol2: Anyway, back to the topic.

I’m not against a reality show. At least there will be another black program on TV. I just hope they don’t come off as a stereo-typical black “has-been” girl group. I think they have potential.

18. DAMN THAT HURTS!! I DID NOT KNOW MY BOO RONNIE WAS MARRIED TO HER, GOOD 4 THEM THOUGH, CUS THEY ASSES FA REAL FELL OFF THE MAP

19. AND COME ON NOW, YA’LL KNOW WHY BEY WAS THE LEADER OF DESTINY’S CHILD. SHE WAS THE LIGHTEST AND CURVIEST ONE, HER DADDY WAS THE MANAGER, AND HER MOM MAD THE CLOTHES. IT’S JUST LIKE THE DAMN SUPREMES. AND ALSO, SWV ONLY HAD ONE LEAD SINGER AS WELL, COKO. BUT REALLY SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD SING

20. Good luck with that!

21. It’s so funny to see they’re reuniting because my sister and I were just discussing them yesterday along with 3LW and she was doing their raps-(hilarious moment but she couldn’t do many raps from Blaque cause Natina didn’t have many- she mostly ad-libbed, repeating what one of the other girls just sang.

:dance2:

22. Could some one tell me what song they had out !  Seriously i truly don’t know what they sung.

23.
Could some one tell me what song they had out !  Seriously i truly don’t know what they sung.
they had this song called “808″.
it went like this… *clearing my
throat to sing*:

‘Cause I’ll be goin’ boom like an 808
Be makin’ circles like a figure 8
You know it feels good from head to toe
Now hold on to me baby here we go

You’ll be goin’ boom baby boom baby boom
And I’ll be goin’ ooh baby ooh baby oooohhh

24. I did like a few of their songs but not sure if reality t.v is the way to go???

25. That will be interesting to watch. I enjoyed their music back in the day but i hope thei sound is more grown coz nne of us are in those cheerleader uniforms anymore.

I miss 90′s girl groups too, i guess they have been replaced with sexed up chix that can sing yes im talking about you Cassie

Too funny! Why was I singin wit you??

27. Thanks Emery,Nia
Appreciate it :-D

28. I can’t imagine why anyone would care enough about this group to a) wonder when they’re getting back together or b) watch the process.

They were a C-level r&b group with 2 mediocre hits. I mean TLC was one of the most popular music groups ever.. and few people checked out their reality show.
Why do they think people want to watch an even less successful group?

Who’s next? Az Yet… Jade… The Whitehead Brothers (“Wish I Was A G” if you asked “who?”)

29. Okay, guys! I spoke to one of the executive producers of the show. An agent named Akbar, so I kinda have the scoop here on the Blaque reality show. The girls will be living with T-Boz in her house. She’ll take Lisa’s place in directing the girls (I mean ladies), and helping them all get over Lisa’s death. That’s interesting. Sounds better than Snoops show to me!

30. :stop: I nevered like the group, they seem like a replay of TLC. Their music sucks! Try something different, like acting.

31. yay! Im soo excited.. i hope they make a good come back! The last time i remember then was on the “Honey” sound track back in 2003. Oh yea btw Brandi in the group is GOREGOUS!!!

32. OFFICIAL STAND UP GIRL

:iagree: TEEDA AND TRISHA

You kinda have the scoop? I think you need to check again. So you saying Shamari is going to move out of the house she shares with her husband Ronnie, to go with live with T-Boz when they both stay in the same city. Lisa’s been gone for over 5 years, so what in the world can T-Boz possibly do in 2007 ‘to help them get over Lisa’s death”?

34. stop being such a :hater: !!!! i loved that group and there songs and i love love lovvveedd the outfits. it would be nice to see a television show of how all of the women are doing now….so good luck with that blaque….i wish u the best of luck!!!! :smile: ….ya girl tiara g. aka paradise moss…ya digg!!!…[and no i don't need any smart comments]….u too old for that….!!!! {COME ON NOW!!!}
