Brown Sistas from across the Hollywood spectrum turned out in force tonight for the start of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala. This year’s event is being held to celebrate the museum’s latest exhibition: Sperheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.Singers Janet Jackson, Beyonce and Mary J. Blige walked the red carpet alongside actresses like Thandie Newton and Paula Patton and all looked fabulous.
This event is generally very stoic and rarely do the attendees step outside the box when it comes to their wardrobe. However, actress Thandie Newton bucked that trend and showed up wearing a short black negligee type number that in my opinion stole the show.
Thandie hands down gets my vote for best dressed sista of the night.
Beyonce is a close second. Her curves show up nicely in the peach gown she wore.
I love Janet’s dress- but only from the side and back view. It looks dull from the front.
Mary looks okay. As usual her tats ruin her look whenever she wears anything that requires her arms to be exposed.
Iman looks like a model- tall and regal. Paula Patton looks beautiful, but her dress is still a tad bit dull to me..
Venus Williams was also in attendance. As was Joy Bryant and Kimora Lee Simmoons who both brought the color.
