Singer Teyana Taylor returns with a new mixtape for loyal fans.
Despite her GOOD Music debut VII being highly slept on, Teyana persevered and is back with an even more impressive offering: the five-track EP The Cassette Tape 1994.
Teyana thankfully keeps things simple on her latest release, shunning rap collaborations, and instead focusing on delivering quality R&B music, with an ode to 90s groups like SWV and En Vogue.
When The Color Purple makes its return to Broadway this fall, it will be doing so with an amazing array of talent.
Along with Jennifer Hudson, who will play the role of Shug Avery, we have Cynthia Enrivo, who wowed fans in the London production as Celie, and Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) who will be taking on the role of Sofia.
Jennifer and Cynthia recently recorded a duet together of the play’s title track, which will be featured in the show when it begins previews on November 10, and then opens live at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on December 10.

Those of you old enough will remember the early 80’s as the absolute height of the aerobics fitness craze. It gave actress Jane Fonda a much needed career boost, and spawned such iconic tunes as Olivia Newton John’s Physical.
Diana’s Work that Body video, recorded when she was 36 and already the mother of three, added to the craze, as well as spawning another hit for Ross to add to her ever-expanding collection.
Forty-three years after its recording, director Sydney Pollack’s documentary on the making of Aretha Franklin’s groundbreaking Amazing Grace album is finally about to be seen by the public.
In January of 1972 Aretha recorded the songs for her Amazing Grace album at the New Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California. Pollack was on hand to document the live recording of the album for a film that Warner Bros. would eventually decide to shelve.

The first to take issue was fellow rapper Azealia Banks, who used her Twitter account to suggest the museum was throwing undercover shade at Nicki by featuring her in such a compromising position.

Keri Hilson and Netflix May Be Working on a New Project Together
Keri Hilson and Netflix are apparently teaming up for some sort of project. Keri posted a photo of herself at Netflix’s offices in New York recently, with the caption “Wait, what?!” and a smiley face with the symbol of a clapboard.
I’m sure Keri can’t divulge all the details just yet, but it’s obvious she’s alluding to the taping of something- possibly an appearance in one of Netflix’s many original programs.
