Rihanna’s days of making other designers rich may soon be coming to an end. The 25-year old pop diva has hung up her haute couture duds and has instead been seen jet setting across the globe in her own signature wears.
As previously reported, RiRi teamed up with River Island to launch her own capsule collection with the brand, and is presently gearing up for the September 12th release of her fall line.
Earlier this week Rihanna was seen sporting one of her own designs, a black and white print bodycon dress, which she paired with snakeskin stilettos from Roberto Cavalli, and her now signature RiRi Woo Lipstick by MAC.
Well, according to ‘Scandal’ costume designer Lyn Paolo, the average American woman may soon get the chance to do just that.
In a recent interview with Fashionista.com, Paolo said the idea of an Olivia Pope inspired fashion line has been talked about for some time now, and that ideas are presently being mulled over.
“We’ve been talking about how we could create something aspirational for the audience- something Olivia Pope might wear, but not so aspirational that it is out of reach for most of our gladiators,” says Paolo. “Right now we’re throwing around ideas and trying to figure out how to do it so that it’s not out of the price range that most people can afford, and yet somehow still create something for people to have a piece of the Olivia Pope look.”
Since its mid-season debut in 2012 ‘Scandal’ has become a bonafide hit for ABC and singlehandedly launched actress Kerry Washington’s career into the stratosphere.
The show earned its first Emmy nods earlier this week- one for Kerry as Lead Actress, the other for Dan Bucatinsky as Guest Actor.
Ashanti wowed the paparazzi last night while attending the 2013 Pre-BET Awards Celebration. The 32-year old R&B diva wore a gorgeous python dress ($695) designed by former Project Runway contestant Michael Costello. Ashanti paired her look with minimal make-up, accessories by Jade and gold-trimmed pumps ($1,695) by Giuseppe Zanotti.
