Nilotica Shea Butter: A Gift from the Gods
While I know the world seems to be madly in love with Shea Butter right now. I myself have never really been fond of the stuff. Unless it is whipped and scented, I tend to avoid Shea Butter and products that contain it. Aside from the obvious smell, which is kinda woodsy and smoky, Shea Butter is extremely hard, making it difficult to work it, whether you’re using it on your body as a part of your natural hair routine.
Essence Wearing Tulle by ColourPop
Today’s Lippie of the Day is brought to you by my beautiful daughter Essence and the color Tulle by ColourPop Cosmetics. I personally have a love-hate relationship with this rosy-hued shade, mostly because it never looks on me the way it does on the numerous brown-skin girls who sing its praises on YouTube.
Essence Wearing Havana Matte Cream Lipstick by NYX
Today’s lippie is brought to you by my gorgeous daughter, Essence. Red Lipsticks for Dark Skin Black Women
Looking for a foolproof red lipstick for your darker skin tone? Well, I have several options for you, two of which I will share in this post. One of the best is Kiss of Fire by Dose of Colors (above). I love this longwearing lipstick and always get compliments when I wear it. The color lasts all day, seriously it does, and can actually be a bit hard to get off. Still, it is a comfortable lipstick to wear and is well worth its $18 price tag.

My Big Chop Story
After years of seriously neglecting my relaxed hair, I finally took the plunge and did the big chop back in August. I was originally going to try and transition, however dealing with two competing hair textures was just too much work. So, after yet another stressful wash day, I whipped out my scissors and cut all my relaxed hair off. Despite standing in front of my mirror and being nearly bald, I felt oddly empowered and free.
