Looks like Tika Sumpter just might be returning to The Haves and Have Nots next season after all. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 36-year actress will not be moving over to CBS as her pilot for the network, tentatively titled The 313, did not get a straight-to-series order as previously expected.

Following in the footsteps of all the other major networks, CBS chose to make very few changes to their fall 2017/mid-season 2018 line-up. Only four new shows have been added to the network’s roster, and none of them have black women starring or co-starring in any major capacity.

Tika probably isn’t crying over the snub, however; she has three films set to be released this year, including Acrimony with Tyler Perry, The Old Man and the Gun, co-starring Robert Redford, and Ride Along 3 with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

  1. I think it’s been said before, CBS is not the channel to tune into if you’re looking for any meaningful diversity. Don’t think they’ve had a show with a majority black cast since The Jeffersons back in the eighties. Every year pilots starring black women are announced from this network and none are ever picked up. CBS is the home of middle, boring American.
