The new season of Celebrity Fit Club begins on March 13th, and once again former ANTM contestant Toccara Jones will be on the show. Toccara, along with Tina Yothers, Willie Aames and Dustin Diamond, will all battle four newbies (Erin Moran, comedian Sommore, former American Idol host Brian Dunkleman and A.J. Benza) in a weight loss boot camp program that pushes them to the limit. Toccara in particular loses it when the panel tells her that her new svelte figure is dysfunctional. Check out a preview of the first episode above and tune in to VH1 this Thursday for the premiere of the new season.

  1. I saw the clip where she was screaming that she wasn’t dysfunctional and I was was perplexed. If the goal is to lose weight, why are they calling her dysfunctional? I mean this girl is super slim now. I saw a pic of her on BV and her legs are like sticks.

  2. Because black women will forever be taught that our bodies are not good enough. No matter how slim or curvacious, somebody will always find something “wrong” with us.

  3. Sommore said she doesn’t see a mall … WTF was she expecting? LOL Bootcamp is bootcamp! She doesn’t get the concept does she? Where is the clip of Toccara losing it? I didn’t see it.

  4. I can understand where Toccara is coming from. There are people out there who would just like to tone their bodies, and feel good about a new fit figure. It doesn’t always have to mean they are psychologically dysfunctional, or mentally unsound when they take pride in their bodies whether they are a few pounds over the “right” weight for their body type. Everyone is different, so you can’t honestly place the same restrictions on one person, and expect it to apply perfectly to someone else. I happen to think that both Toccara and Summore are beautiful the way they are already. If they choose to become more fit and lead a different lifestyle (doesn’t always have to be considered healthier, because some have experienced serious health risks from changing their lifestyle as drastically as Celebrity Fit Club suggests) then more power to them. Harvey is too damn rough. Not a fan of him and those facial expressions he makes at all. Maybe if they had a black female psychologist, they would finally get it. 2 black men and 1 white woman can’t possibly know what a Nubian Queen has to be exposed to on a daily basis in this society and how that affects her.

If Celebrity Fit Club is relying on. BMI for their standards then they are not in line with the most current results…

Research has shown that bone density varies by ethnicity. BMI uses a pure height weight formula and that really isn’t accurate for people who have a lot of muscle. The research is out there and bodybuilders know it…Harvvey should know it too.

The waist to hip ratio is more reliable in terms of a healthy heart indicator. If your waist to hip ratio is 70percent or lower, you are at a much lower risk for weight related health issues. I would bet that the small waist big behind build of a lot of sisters would put them in this safe category.

Not all ethnic groups find women who are built like teenaged boys, attractive.

  7. @ Nef:

Thank you for that info. I was looking for the “ideal” weight a while ago and just about every BMI calculator I did told me ideal weight was at 88-96 lbs or around that area. According to them, being an even 100lbs would put me at risks. Crazy. 88 lbs? Come on now! I’ll have to look up that waist-to-hip ratio thing.

    @above,

Look for “waist to hip ratio” and “waist to hip calculator”. Keep in mind that muscle is a factor.

Also, those height weight charts have been around since the 1940s. Nourishment and nutrition conditions have changed and women in general are larger and stronger than they were then.

  9. I did see Tocarra getting upset. She did look good, but sometimes she is such an embarrassment. How ever, Harvey shouldna spoke to her like that. Thanks for the info Nef, you know I thought the BMI calculators were a little off. It had me 30 lbs over weight and I am about 5 foot 9 or 10 and if I lose 30 pounds I’ll look sick or like I’m smoking something.

The panelist did not say she needed to lose 50 pounds! Her target weight is what she reached when she was last on the show. She immediately became defensive anticipating an uber negative response they never gave.

Yes, 40% body fat determined by the BMI chart is not accurate and there should be charts specific for ethnic groups. When I was in college, I was apart of a metobolism study where my body fat was determined with a test where I was submereged underwater. The results were 7% lower than the chart!

 Toccara is a psych case. If she does not subscribe to the fitness philosophy of the show, then she should find some other way to boost her self esteem and her wallet rather than bringing her teammates down on national TV. She already looks fabulous and cottage cheese-free in her before picture. She should just publish a calendar instead of embarrassing the sane black women in this country.

  11. I love Harvey! I saw him go on a date with one of the contestants (She starred on Living Single I think?), and he was so charming and romantic, I like that he’s tough yet has a lovey dovey side :brownsista:

  12. why was toccarra straddling him?

  13. Dr. Ian is so hot  love celebrity fit club!!!! may the best team win

  14. I know Sommore is going to have me cracking up

  15. Tocarra doesnt need to lose any weight she said it herself she loves her body i think she is just trying to get some tv shine but good for her a good exercice routine never killed anyone….

  16. Did anyone watch the actual episode and hear what Dr. Ian said to Sommore about “message to all the african american women who say they love their curves—“. He was implying that Sommore needed to show them (us) that we should not love our curves. I was shocked that he said that. Then the cameras panned to Toccarra and she looked hurt–but I don’t think she is intelligent enough to verbalize why she was really offended. I was offended as an African American woman at his implication. Did anyone else see that?

  17. Toccarra looks amazing after this second go round. She looks amazing… she was glowing on the recent rip the runway… and her cover of King magazine last month is super sexy. It really worked for her.

What does he mean “we shouldn’t love our curves”??? Unless he means that when we refer to our curves we’re referring to our fat……………….if that’s his implication. And maybe some women mean ‘fat’ and not ‘curves’. But I doubt it….I’d like to find out what was really going on with him there.
