Chaka Khan’s PSA for Trayvon Martin

Over the weekend singer Chaka Khan gathered together a group of her celebrity friends to shoot a PSA in honor of slain teenager Trayvon Martin. Each star wore a t-shirt that read “Super Life – Fear Kills, Love Heals,” while wearing hoodies, the same type being blamed for teens killing.

You can check out the PSA below.

FYI- for those of you who may not know, Chaka Khan once lived in the U.K. (and May still, I am not sure) because she said she feared for her sons’ lives in the United States.

I cannot remember who was interviewing her at the time, it was some years ago, but the singer said the many killings of unarmed black boys was what moved her to leave the country, even though she was a wealthy woman who could afford to live in some of the best, and supposedly safest, neighborhoods in the country.

At the time, Chaka spoke of her own son(s) being targeted in the same was as Trayvon was, saying she knew no matter where she lived in the U.S. they would never truly be safe.

So why the U.K? The police there do not carry guns, at least they didn’t when Chaka gave her interview.

  1. i don’t blame her. America is one of the most racist countries every. Even Germany apologized for the Holocaust and gave reparations, but America has yet to apologize for the mistreatment of blacks even after slavery they were still vicious. God will give all of us JUSTICE.

“I don’t mean to go out and get violent, but at the same time you should never be nonviolent unless you run into some nonviolence. I’m nonviolent with those who are nonviolent with me. But when you drop that violence on me, then you’ve made me go insane, and I’m not responsible for what I do.”

“When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won’t do to get it, or what he doesn’t believe in doing in order to get it, he doesn’t believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire… or preserve his freedom.”
