Chrisette Michelle has her first #1 album- at least according to Hits Daily Double she does. Their final numbers are in and they have the singer taking the top spot with sales of her “Epiphany” album coming in at around 83,000 copies. Taking the #2 with spot is Hannah Montana: The Movie Soundtrack- which sold around 81,000 copies. Rounding out the top 3 is Ciara, whose “Fantasy Ride” CD sold about 80,000 copies. Should these numbers stand, it will be a huge coup for Chrisette. The singer is not considered a mainstream artist and wasn’t given much of a chance at snagging the top spot.
Of course none of this is official yet and won’t be until tomorrow when official Soundscan numbers are released.

I hope Chrisette gets the top spot…I’ve heard all 3, and BY FAR, Chrisette Michele’s album is WAAAAY better quality music. Liked FR too but it’s just not as deep and Ciara’s vocals aren’t as amazing as Chrisette’s.

And from what I have heard so far she has did exactly what I wanted her to do… she made this album BETTER than her last. I can hear her growth in all the songs I have heard thus far. Though Chrisette may have not gotten heavy promotion, her work was anticipated. Def Jam did not delay its’ release. Her first single was good for a ‘kick him to the curb’ type song that seem to have replaced the love song these days. She was featured on other blogs this past week so word of mouth was in her corner. Def Jam is mighty clever and other companies (& Ciara’s handlers) should take note. They have produced decent music videos that don’t cheapen her image and disrespect or disappoint her core fan base. Most importantly, the her music has substance.
“push back” and misguided first singles that alienate the core fan base are now the kiss of death for music artist. Just seems to be business as usual for music companies I guess. What a waste of money & time & potential.
I only know Chrisette’s music through her videos & live performances I’ve watched online. Think it is time I invest in her work. I want to see how her music has evolved and I hope this 2nd CD is not watered down like the $3 price tag.
Hope for Ciara’s sake her company actually release a single that her core fans like. Kids are really fickle these days. It’s about ‘what have you done for me lately’.

I am a fan of both ladies, but what I don’t understand is when this became a battle of who would outsell who. No, I am not one of the stans claiming Ciara would out sell anybody. I just find it amusing that so many brownsistas and not just on this site, but others are elated with what they would call a failure of another artist. If you bought Chrissy’s album because you liked it than that s great. People are really acting like juvenile teenagers with this ah ha in your face Ciara lost thing. People talk about Ciara fans, but most of you are no better. On an unbiased view all albums are flops these day’s with selling’s of under 100K. Music is lost right now and people aren’t buying, but I don’t see why we can’t congratulate both ladies for their efforts. IMO :brownsista:

Ciara has a small voice, but doesn’t mean she doesn’t have talent in her own right. Both ladies styles of music is totally different and thats why I got both. I can’t dance or work out to Christte’s music, but I can to Ciara’s. I throw Chrisette on when I am relaxing or cleaning and I just sing along. On Ciara not being as nice to fans, a very popular blogger posted about when she met Ciara around the time of Goodies, how friendly and down to earth she was, and then she recently met her and she just wasn’t as nice. She thinks she’s on Beyonce’s level and she’s not, this proves it. That is nothing but the TRUTH. Sales don’t lie.
Also, Ciara has said in many interviews that she ignores negativity. Which is fine, that’s what she should do, but what these celebs need to realize is just because we don’t like what they do doesn’t mean we’re being negative, we are just keeping it real with them. That still doesn’t excuse Ciara losing the #1 spot to someone that you hardly ever see on TV. Cds haven’t been selling for a long time, yet when someone gets the #1 spot on the first week sales (Beyonce, Rihanna, Alicia, Kanye etc), everyone announces it proudly. Ciara is way more popular than Chrisette (or Keri Hilson) and already has a strong fanbase compared to her, she has much more media coverage, she’s been on many TV shows, she’s on MTV, technically she should have sold more, there’s no excuse. It depends on who sales what the first week. Keri sold less than the people she dropped with, the same as Ciara. All this means is that the people that were number one and two when Keri dropped sold more than her, so she was number three, if they all sold less, she’d been number one.

You are absolutely right, she’s making money FOR NOW and she doesn’t care what we think. The fact of the matter is she should care what we think, because if she’s not in high demand she won’t get ad campaigns, and she since she can’t act, she definately won’t get movies and tv. My point is, if she doesn’t care what we think, even more people will dislike her, and she’ll be in the bossip section of when the checks stop coming in.
