I honestly think I became a die-hard Ciara fan tonight. The singer, decked out in one of Michael Jackson’s trademark military jackets, performed an absolutely beautiful rendition of his hit single “Heal The World”. It actually took me a moment to realize who was singing because I didn’t hear an introduction. And even once I saw her face it still took me a moment or two to realize that it was CiCi sitting there singing her heart out for our dear brother Michael. If you guys are like me and almost totally missed the performance, do check it out on the next page. Ciara did an amazing job and gave one of the better tributes of the evening.
I am so happy to see Ciara getting the props she deserves from a blogger. Most bloggers are vicious and rude toward Ciara…you would thing Ci stole their man or something. It seems to me that is the eyes of bloggers and commenters Ciara can’t ever do anything right, and the better she get’s as a singer, performer, and fashion wise the stronger the hare gets. With that being said THANK YOU Steph…for not being a hating *** blogger. lol
On to the performance: This was one of the better performances of the night. I was pleasantly surprised and very emotional when I heard Ciara singing this so passionately. When I heard that she cried and showed raw emotion after the performance when she was being asked about Michael it showed me that she’s true and real. Nothing phony about that.
OVERALL DECENT. BUT MY EARS WASNT TO FOND BY HER SINGING. I THINK SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE ANOTHER SONG THAT FIT HER VOICE BETTER. BUT SHE LOOKS GREAT.

Why didn’t Ciara just honor M.J by doing a M.J dance freestyle or something??? Her vocals are too weak to be taken seriously for this song!
I mean seriously… who the hell wants to see CIARA sing a slow song….. THIS IS A TRIBUTE TO M.J…… GET UP THERE AND DO WHAT YOU DO BEST AND DANCE!!!
You know what LadyElle, the fact that she didn’t do a dance routine is what made it really amazing to me. I honestly thought she sang the song well and what ppl don’t realize is that MJ made some amazing love/slow/jams/songs. I wish someone had of sang Butterflies or You Are Not Alone. I swear if they had I would have been crying like a baby. People expect dance routines but Michael could blow and move you to tears when he wanted to. :cool:

This was horrible, it just revealed how one dimensional Ciara’s voice is, could not hear emotion cause if she tried that she would go off key…all I saw was someone praying that she reaches the end of the song before she loses the key. I love Ci Ci, but let’s be real, she is in no way a singer. PERIOD!!! :shock:

I think Ciara did a lovely job.
But on the whole, the awards disappointed from the standpoint that they advertised and said that the show would be all about MJ…….but it wasn’t. I expected a little more in that regard.
I missed it during the show but after seeing that just now I gotta give CiCi her props.

Honestly they should have just left the show as they had it before MJ’s passing. I commend BET for trying to address a very unfortunate situation by honoring one of music’s defining iconoclasts. The bits with Jamie in his MJ get up and the Ciara tribute were nice additions, but that tied with Janet’s words would have made for an adequate tribute, IMO. I wouldn’t have expected any of those artists to revamp their entire sets in the space of 48 hrs.
Hopefully BET recognizes that they shouldn’t have tried to redo the show overnight and is making provisions for a proper MJ tribute broadcast sometime this year.
I think this is a really sad situation but I choose to honor and celebrate the good things about MJ.
That was one of the worst performances of the night. What made a studio singer think she can sing accoustically? I didn’t know who it was for the longest time. But, was less than impress. :shock:
TERRIBLE! BUT, I do give her respect for not doing a dance routine because right now it not the time to be dancing. We are mourning for this man, not celebrating. The performance was ok, and she did a fairly decent job, but not really.

Ciara is a dancer 1st and singer 2nd so she should have flexed her dance muscles b/c although MJ could do slow songs Ciara cannot do HIS! She looked cute but honestly i was waiting for the passion that never came. plus it wasn’t even the full song. Maybe if a choir had come out or she was joined by some SANGers i would have liked the performance better. Glad she got to be a part of the tribute but i personally would have been more impressed if she had danced.
P.S. She could have done the moment at the Motown Anniversary where MJ first premeired the ” Moonwalk” and that would have been more heartfelt.
i always loved this girl from the beginning and I’m happy SHE did THIS song. i knew she had it in her. this is my all time favorite of Michael, and i remember where i was where i was when i heard it for the first time. i was so young, and i felt it. that is what music is supposed to do to you. i would have never expected a performance of this song, I’m so shocked, but I’m happy it’s this one.
I have been saying to you one sided hearing people that rihanna CAN sing ciara CAN sing, they are just technically weaker than the jennifer hudson and the jazmine sullivan, I told you people all of them can sing, but do you listen? no if its not wearing horse hair it is not talented to you pfff, when ciara started to sing my mother was like there you go let the people say she can’t sing now! You don’t even give anyone a chance and that aint fair imagine someone comes at your job and just because they perform better than you people immediately deny your talent how would you feel?

Ciara thank everyone on her twitter and myspace page last night after her performance. In my opinion she is the greatest entertainer of this generation. Whether Viacom give her a pass or not her light will continue to shine bright. How many of us can reach her status with no previous training in singing or dancing. I’m waiting on a replied. Ciara & Monica are God gifted their talent is undeniable. I’m riding with Ciara for life, she is the next rising star.
I was totally disappointed with the ” tributes” that were given to Michael last night. It was insulting and despicable. Here The King of Pop made it possible for these group of celebrites to crossover and make money, and they came up with this garbage. Even if it was last minute, it was low budget and tacky. These people always claim that MJJ was the biggest influence, yet their was nothing to signify that. The only nice moment of the dedications was when the old heads like the OJays recalled how MJJ stopped everything for that day to just hang with them and discuss old times. And the other artists like Johnny Gill in tears. I’m insulted that Don Cornelius didn’t really discussed MJJ influence on Soul Train.
But then again, most of these performers were not born to feel the true effect of Michael when he was young and doing it HUGE.
And we all know that if MJJ was there, he would have been studying their choreography and music, perfecting every detail in his mind. I loved to wach MJJ get an award, put his award away and blow every performance out the water with just a few dance moves and his singing.
These celebrities say they admire MJJ, but not one of them actually put in the work that Michael did to perfect his craft.
And noone better twist their mouth and say that they are the heir to his throne, because they are not.
I thought Ciara sounded better than she usually does. I didn’t even know it was her, until I read this website. She looked nice in that outfit. She didnt dance and sat on that stool, but maybe that was because she had picked up a couple of pounds IMO.

The performance was weak. I’m sorry. Ciara’s voice cracked. Last night made me mourn MJ and music b/c the songs out today are garbage. As long as you have a pretty face and cold a not for 10 seconds you get a record deal. And the BET Awards are ghetto. No class, no organization. One more thing about Ciara. She’s okay. But honestly she’s doing stuff Aaliyah did 10+ years ago. Artitsts today are not original. Even MJ in his last interview with Ebony said many young “artists” today are doing the same things he did 25 years ago.
Ciara did a fantastic job!!! I enjoyed that performance…the best of the night IMO…Get em CiCi..

Honestly this performance lacked the genuine love and spirit of MJ, not to mention vocal talent. It takes that to perform a song from MJ and at that a song like “Heal the World”. I don’t care how much you want to be connected to greatness and seen as sweet and loving if you aren’t of his caliber of greatness and aren’t genuine in spirit and your endeavors you need not try to fool the public.
I saw the performance and honestly this girl doesn’t deserve to be called a singer, Ciara is a dancer, and she has what you would call a -choir voice, see God has enabled all of us to be singers in the choir this is so we can praise him, however everyone is not anointed & or talented enough to lead a song. It is when people get confused about things like this that they get a distorted sense of entitlement and take on things they are not capable of doing.
We all love Mike and want to be connected to him and his greatness in some way, so I kinda see why she jumped up there and it is nice that she wanted to do a tribute to him, but instead of trying to secretly prove she could sing, she could of said something about him or danced, Michael has upbeat songs she could have lip-synched so that she could dance instead. Lastly, people ultimately need to stop lying to themselves, ‘cus Ms. Thang cannot really sing, that choir voice, needs to be used only in the choir. Give it to God sweetheart.
Sorry gotta keep it real…I didnt think she did a good job. She was a bit flat and a little outta tune. She looked the part though and I wish she would have danced to pay tribute to MJ. Overall she did OK.

Discernment and VOICE well said…..she was horrible. I seen her in concert at Bryant park in the city and I swear ppl i didn’t hear One note come out of her mouth. Wow, I didnt think the BET awards were bad. I thought it was pretty good (minus lil wayne) for the short time they had to re do it. I enjoyed it alot. As for Ciara, I thought she sounded pretty good, even tho she was lip singing but it would have been more entertaining for her to sing and dance to a MJ song. To the person who said we are in mouring for michael jackson instead of celebrating, i completely disagree. We should be celebrating his life, him music, and what he did to inspire us. idk wat ppl expect from the performance i know i expected to see her sing and dance but she just sung! BUT she actually held it down and did a good tribute considering the short time! Her vocals were sweet, soft, agile, which is what the song requires! A song like heal the world fit Michaels voice perfectly and it fits Ciara’s voice well! Singing is second nature to her but compared to how poorly most of the other people did on that stage with overall performance and vocals she was one of the best of the night!

The only thing that made Ciara’s performance better than Beyonce’s is the fact that it was shorter, and she did sing one of HIS songs. All in all they were both boring and they were both hilarious. But Beyonce does have a better voice.
