Warner Bros. to Reboot ‘Cleopatra Jones’

CLEOPATRA JONES REBOOT

In the Works: Cleopatra Jones Reboot

Are you guys ready for yet another remake of a classic 1970s Blaxploitation era film? Well, Warner Brothers hopes you are because they have just secured the rights to Cleopatra Jones, which originally starred Tamara Dobson as a government spy who uses her day job as a model to shield her globe-trotting covert operations.

The studio has tapped Misha Green to write and executive-produce the film. She is the creator of the now-canceled WGN series, Underground, and has written extensively for shows like Sons of Anarchy, Spartacus and Helix.

Cleopatra Jones joins recently announced television reboots of Foxy Brown, which will star Meagan Good, and Get Christie Love, which hasn’t announced a lead, but originally starred Teresa Graves.

The CJ reboot hasn’t announced a lead either, but as always, I have so many names of wonderful actresses who could take on these roles, including Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow) and Ebonnee Noel (Wrecked).
