Cover Girl: Nicki Minaj for Elle

Rapper Nicki Minaj continues her quest toward normalcy, gracing the April edition of Elle magazine, due out March 26th, minus her trademark big hair, pink lipstick and over the top eyelashes.

As previously reported, Nicki retired her former hairstylist, make-up artist and fashion stylist, in an attempt to upgrade her look to something a bit more mature. According to Nicki, she is actively seeking out film roles and hopes her more mature look will allow her to be taken seriously.

Nicki spoke about her new look for the cover, saying: “To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol’ crazy lashes- you know- nothing- I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes.”

Access Hollywood provided a preview of the cover, as well an a mock interview Nicki did with herself.

Enjoy!

Nicki Minaj on her plans for world domination: “My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. I have to do right by this woman. That’s what it’s all about.”

Nicki Minaj on being bullied as a child: “I went through a lot of bullying early on. Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough. So I’ve always put up this wall— it was a self-defense mechanism growing up— because I was almost expecting people to attack me. And I still have it. It’s sad.”

Nicki Minaj’s advice for women who want to command respect: “My advice to women in general: Even if you’re doing a nine-to-five job, treat yourself like a boss. Not arrogant, but be sure of what you want— and don’t allow people to run anything for you without your knowledge. You want everyone to know, Okay, I can’t play games with her. 1. Nicki, like Lil Kim, Tamar Braxton and Beyonce, all want to be white women. All they know how to do is mimic white beauty rather than uphold the standards of their own.

  2. you sound like you mad because they all can pull off the blonde hair and you can’t.. I don’t understand ppl why are you concern about the next.. focus on yourself.. find yourself Get YO LIFE!!! hehehehe

  3. No wig? So that’s her real hair? or a weave? Okay, cool. American Idol diva? Okay. No crazy colors; more a monochromatic palate. I like the last gray and white image with the white t-shirt and dry hair. It is nice. Had she faced forward, that would have been a better cover shot than the wet hair. Her plans for world domination the same as advice for women? error there, maybe? I’ve read she was in theater arts so I do wish her well with an acting career if that’s where her path leads her.

  4. I am sick of seeing all of these white washed black women. Be who you are and wear it with pride. And whomever don’t like what I said keep it to your self. It is an opinion blog and that is mine.

  5. Who cares Like I said i will say it again .. why does it matter to you?? you don’t have to wear the hair color.. everyone is entitled to do what ever color they choose to do.. and you right its your opinion and this is my opinion.. why u pressed about the next..keep it moving!! u are so closed minded lol to think a hair color says that black women want to be white.. LOL so that mean when white ppl color there hair they want to be black.. just hush!! ty :)

  9. Oh lawd. We have been invaded by teens.

  10. :) call it what u want

  11. I worry about me. It’s 2013, I will no longer try to uphold black people up to my standards of black pride. Actually, I can careless, as long as you aren’t attacking another human being, than you can rock any hair color you want. Frankly, it’s not that serious. And let’s be real, there is an African tribe and Aborgines in Australia that have blue/green eyes and blond hair. So, that isn’t exclusively white. Life is too short to always be a Sista Souljah.

  12. i feel that same way @BOhwe.. thats all i was trying to say..ppl got offened when i said that.. :)

  13. If white people can dye their hair so can we. Who cares. Anyway, Nicki looks beautiful with her new toned down look.
