Diva Fight On The Charts… NOT

posted by Sista on November 25th, 2009 at 4:52 pm

Rihanna Everyone thought there would be a diva fight for pole position on next week’s U.S. albums chart… and they were right. However- the winning diva in that fight is not who anyone expected. According to industry reports based on one day sales figures, neither Lady Gaga nor Rihanna will have the #1 album in the country. Instead, Susan Boyle, that opera singing lady from the U.K., will top next week’s chart with sales that could exceed 600,000. Adam Lambert will take the #2 spot with sales of about 230,000. Gaga’s latest Deluxe Edition is expected to move about 200,000 copies and another album of hers is expected to move another 150,000. Rihanna’s sales are also estimated to be in or around the 180-200K range- meaning her and Gaga will be fighting it out for third place position.

  1. WOW! thats interesting! And I saw an advertisement just yesterday for SuBo!!

  2. Wow people love that woman don’t they?

  3. She has a beautiful voice. I won’t be buying it, but, a lot of people are just tired of smut.

  4. I am actually happy for Susan Boyle and this just goes to show that there is a market for all types of music- not just fluffy pop, hip hop and R N’ B.

Susan Boyle has a mature fan base that appreciates FINE music and unlike kids- they can afford to and do choose to BUY their music, rather down download it for free.

Susan also set a record for pre-sales.

    Good for her :)

  5. well maybe ri ri would stop writing suicide records and indirect she hate CB songs and maybe people would like her again and maybe if she didnt lie, that would help too. I’ll get the album yea sure, I’ll burn from someone who does get it but I sure aint buyin it NO SIR.

  6. Go Susan and everybody for even charting

    HEY!!!! ROCKON!!!LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. @Sista: There hasnot been any real RnB on the airwaves for about a good 7 years. This mess that’s out now girl we can’t call that mess RnB.

  8. @LMAO, hahaha!

  9. I want to see what Rockon got to say……..He/She can say what she want about BEYAWNSEY!!!!! BUT BORWHORESEY WAS #1 WITH 460,000 AND IS PASSED 5 MILLION WW…

  10. SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS MUSIC

@LMAO, it was 486,000 according to Nielson Soundscan. But on another, far more important note, who cares? leave Beyonce or BEYAWNEY, or BORWHORESEY (wtf?) out of this, k?

  11. That 5 mill you boast of is for world wide sales. She only did 2 mill here in the states.

Besides you should know by now that first week sales are no indication of anything. GGGB did about the same it’s first week and went on to sell quiet well over time.

Rhi is only one single behind Bey at 12 for female with the most top 10 hits this decade, which isn’t even over yet so I really don’t understand “LMAO November 25, 2009 at 9:25 pm” the boasting, taunting or whatever it is you are doing to Rockon.

These people don’t know us so stop with the nonsense.

Very excited for Miss Boyle and AL. Maybe this will wake up other artist that everything they put out won’t necessarily mean the #1 spot. Music in the new millennium SUCKS!!!!!

  12. Susan Boyle is a fairytale come true, a reminder to never give up!
she’s quite blessed and quite lucky!

“Luck is when preparation meets opportunity”

    Go Susan!

  13. What’s supposed to happen on Nov. 25th, 2009 at 9:25 pm?

  15. I LOVE HOW RIH FANS LOVE TO PUT OUT FACTS THAT ARENT REALLY FACTS.. @ YACHI GGB DID HORRIBLE WITH ITS FIRST WEEK SALES.. THEY SAID SHE ONLY SOLD 100,000 IN THE FIRST WEEK… AND THATS WHY SHE ALMOST WENT BROKE CUZ THE LABEL WASNT FUNDING HER ANYMORE… BUT OVERTIME SHE GOT MORE FAMOUS THEN THEY REREALESED IT AND THATS WHEN SHE GOT SUM GOOD SALES BEYONCE DIDNT HAVE TO DO THAT SO SORRY TO BURST UR BUBBLE BUT RIHANNA DONT GOT IT LIKE THAT AND EVEN NOW SHE STILL DONT GOT IT LIKE THAT CANT U SEE.. HER ALBULM IS BEING SOLD FOR 99CENTS.. WOMP WOMP BEYONCE WOULD NEVER GO FOR THAT SH*T

  16. I’m happy for Susan Boyle. She deserves all the success and happiess her heart can handle.

  17. Why do people have to like one artist and bash the other?…DAM!

  18. Happy for Susan.

  19. Great for Susan.

Wow, the Beyawnsay stans must be disappointed that Gaga probably won’t get the #1 spot so they can say she shut down Rihanna. Like Gaga stomped on beyawnsay’s I Am Such A Flop. LOL

    Funny how things work out!

The week is not over. We still have Black Friday sales. .

Amazon is having a sale on MP3s. You can get any download available at a $3 discount.

BUT THE BEY stans are making it seem like RIhanna’s album is the only one on sale. TYpical.

Jigga’s album was also $3.99 when it came out on MP3. But that’s not their issue, is it?

Rihanna is not a domestic artist. She’s doing much better overseas…Her base!

  20. @SISTA- Could you do us all a favor and block ROCKON’S comments? I mean it wouldn’t hurt it you lost just one useless commenter would it???

  21. L'afrique cest chic

    GO SUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  22. I like rihanna and lady gaga. but rihanna new album is not good as her last album. i’m not a hater. i hate it when people say that im a hater. but come on. is this album better then her last album? NO. :(

  23. oh congrats to susan. well done

  24. bless her it not neccesarily the songs are bad its the direction she has taken basically its down to the new image buh after this album i gurantee her label will change her image to the gggb era trust they tuk a risk with this dark ting its got mixed reviews it dnt help she is always half naked as well lol plus she cant really complete with lady gaga who is definatly a force to be reckoned with wether u like it or not she is the new it girl rhianna only stays in the papers cause of the colthes she wears u notice the clothes getting wierder she relies on her image to stay relevant and that was fine up until she realesed an album were she cant hide behind clothes its the music that counts

  25. Okay Susan boyle can sing,-amazingly, i might add, but if she was beautiful she wouldn’t get this much hype. This shows how obsessed our society is with looks. Even the papers were like “ugly duckling turned swan” or some foul nonsense. i remember watching that show, and when she 1st came out the audience(Britain or England, where ever they were- are some cold peoplee) were looking like she was a walking bowel movement-they didn’t even try 2 hide their reactioNS and she didn’t even say nothing. ANyway, its only a fairytale cuz she is or was”unattractive” and she wasnt supposed to have that beautiful voice with that face. i personally believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But point is, it may seem like society is being “nice” but its reverse psychology. Anyway, she seems like a nice woman and wish her the best, hope fame don’t make her become a “dive. As far as gaga and Rhi- the comments are starting 2 become recycled so i have none.

  26. Susan Boyle selling 600K the first week should be a wake up call for all other artists. If an established artist like Beyonce sold 460K and Rihanna 200K, and so on, that shows that people are actually tired of overexposed artists and artists becoming known for something other than “singing”, “performing”, etc…

    Now on a personal note:
    - To Rihanna’s fans: Looks like the interview about Chris Brown didn’t help her album sales. I say “backlash”!
-To Beyonce’s fans: well, she hasn’t even sold more albums than Taylor Swift this year so…
-To Lady Gaga’s fans: Did you really expect her to sell a lot of albums?

  27. How many of Rihannas top ten hits are actually hers and not features. I don’t think that ppl should get full credit for songs they are featured on. So take Bonnie and Clyde off Bees. I’m getting tired of the Beyonce versus Rihanna. And stop with the Beyawnsay and other names. It just shows your immaturity.

  28. once again, you people can’t keep beyonce’s name out of your posts. she’s sooooo overexposed, yet you are ALWAYS talking about her in posts that has NOTHING to do with her!!

  29. This is completely out of subject, but Rihanna’s eyebrows in this pictures???STRANGE

  30. @Ruserious

    Excellent perspective and so true!
    ———
After watching various interviews and not understanding the direction and thinking about how LA Reid as executive producer could be onboard with the dark scheme, Rihanna’s Good Morning America performance, which was very good, I was surprised, they sacrificed some sales to relaunch “the artist,” very smart move!

Instead of making pop songs like other black artists, because she was already a pop artist, sluggish black music buying, they went way left field and it was the right move, the darkness was to obliterate the GGGB and postion her in a new music marketing paradigm to expand her territory! Through has fashion escapades and bubbly interviews, she’ll brighten up some of the darkness, giving you a new Rihanna and it’s working!

  31. wow. Amazing how Susan Boyle’s first weeks sales are almost equal to Beyonce+Rihanna or Beyonce+Lady Gaga. These young women need to do something different mannnnnnnnn!

  32. I COMPLETELY agree with RUSERIOUS’s comment.

@COCO- NOBODY this year has sold more than Taylor Swift.

  33. $IGNATURE bARBIE

right taylor swift is killing em’ right now

  34. Some stranger on a forum

Shanice how many top ten of beyonce’s are actually hers and not features? SIT DOWN cant praise rihanna and tear bee and vice versa they are the same microwaved pop CRAP

  35. @some stranger all of Beyonce’s top hits are her own. Try again. And i said that people should stop piting them against each other.Reading comprehension works wonders

  36. Some stranger on a forum

looool like crazy in love? deja vu? check on it? baby boy? SIT DOWN you sound ridiculous , and if you even count destiny’s child in those so called top ten i’m done with your idiotic self People should stop piting them against each other yet you were CLEARLY attempting to bring rihanna down, Which like i said does not make any sens because they are both the same MICROWAVED pop garbage, Done.

  37. It doesn’t matter if THIER songs have someone featured on them it’s…THEIRS and you can try but CAN’T take the success away from them. Someone on another post said Beyonce shouldn’t have 23 top ten hits because some were with DC but why not? Without her there wouldn’t have been a DC and vice versa. So does that also mean some of her grammy’s should be subtracted???

  38. Some stranger on a forum

17 do you also attribute the sales numbers and the grammys and the top ten hits to the other dc members? If beyonce could do it all by herself why DIDN’T SHE start that way ? Quit giving me that crap i know it is inconceivable to you but kelly and michelle had fans too

  39. @SSOF- Of course you do or let me correct that you SHOULD give Kelly and Michelle credit they’ve EARNED as well, which are the grammy’s, DC’s sales etc. Your also very ignorant or you don’t comprehend very well because if you were reading correctly I said vice versa which means there WOULDN’T have been a DC without any of the women, I know they all had their own loyal fans. So for example when someone announces Kelly they should say “please welcome four time grammy award winner Kelly Rowland”. Do you understand now?

  40. Well we can all argue back and forth but the fact remains that Susan Boyle beat not only Gaga, Rihanna but also powerhouse like Beyonce. Bottomline, maybe these ladies need to try something different cause seriously, we’re talking about Susan Boyle here. She is not even American and she comes here and stills the spotlight! Which I enjoy actually. Nice change! I am honestly sick of these songs artists make these days.

  41. I dont know I am really feeling Rihanna R.R. She is a visionary in a “play-play” kinda way. Its an escape to the darkness of pain; the “low” people go through in life. You know how something so bad happened you wanted to die? Not really wanting to die but a figure of speech. I think RR is figurative to how we feel when we are at a low point in life. Hopefully no one will take it too seriously.

  42. oh lord i knew beyonce name was going to get thrown in and the post is not even about her..lmao..
