Don’t Ever Forget Who You Are!

miriamchemmoss1 140x140 Dont Ever Forget Who You Are!As we set out on life’s journey, we will encounter negativity from high and low places, but don’t ever forget who you are. As we set out on life’s journey, there will be those who want to hold us back. Stand firm, and don’t ever forget who you are.

It’s so easy for our minds to be misled by all those false opinions that society has tried to impose on us. Like trying to tell us that the lighter shade of brown is more preferable than the darker shade of brown or that the long straight hair strains are more beautiful than the tight coiled ones; to that I say, don’t ever forget who you are.

Don’t be bound by other people standards. Don’t be shaped into someone else’s mold. March to the beat of your own drum and don’t ever forget who you are.

It’s so easy to get caught up in all those worldly things; believing that materialistic things is the essence of defining our self-worth; or believing that we are confined to the stereotypes that have been placed upon us.

As we set out on life’s journey, people will have us believing that our lives are cheap and that we are not worthy of being loved, that we are not worthy of success, that we are not worthy of greatness; to that I say, stand firm and don’t ever forget who you are.

Don’t be bound by other people standards. Don’t be shaped into someone else’s mold. March to the beat of your own drum and don’t ever forget who you are.

  1. Awright …. that’s a good word for us sistas :)

  2. I agree people in general should stay true to themselves, and they should believe in their own standard of beauty, AWFMS. While we don’t have to conform to each others standard at all, we should be able to recognize diverse beauties. In addition, realize beauty is skin deep.

In my 21 years, I have had natural tight coiled hair, braids, hair extensions, and perm. I’ve received hair compliments in all of these stages. Because I’ve had various prefrences, I never was one who believe one hair texture or lenght is above another. I don’t believe in putting one skin tones above the other either. I find all our various hues and textures beautiful.

Currently, I enjoying my natural hair status. I love the fact I get to do the grooming by myself. Also, I’m glad I found this elegant, durable, confortable, all senarios natural hair style LMAO. When I decided to go back to my natural roots, I made sure I knew for certain I was doing it for the benefit of myself and myself alone. As a result, I didn’t care if the opinions or standards of beauty of my family, friends, or society at large differed from my one. Consequently, that attitude built my strenght and confidence.

I also agree materialistic things don’t set the bar of our self- worth. This brings to mind a conversation I had with an older brother. That day he was driving me to the grocery stores so that we could purchase the ingredients for our soon to be home-cooked meal. While at the grocery store, I ran into one of an old high school friend. My brother was like, “Come on…hook me up! Tell her I have a car.” I had to look at him. I was sadden by the fact he equated his worth to date her by his car ownership status. I told him point blank, If a woman want to date you solely because you have a car, run the opposite direction brother.
