Ebony Magazine’s Couples Issue

posted by Sista on January 4th, 2013 at 12:32 am

For the month of February Ebony Magazine is featuring what they are calling their ‘10 Hottest Couples’ to keep an eye on in 2013. Among those who made the list are actress Meagan Good and new hubby DeVon Franklin, T.I. and Tiny and Bishop T.D. Jakes and his wife Serita.

Ebony is also featuring three different covers with the couples named above, as well as features on Denzel Washington and his wife Paulette, Wiz Kalifah and Amber Rose, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade and the First Couple, Barack and Michelle Obama.

You can check out the covers below, and I’ll add excerpts when they become available.

My favorite cover is the one with T.I. and Tiny. This is truly the best I have ever seen Tiny look. Amazing use of color, with just the right amount of Photoshop.

^^^0_o Lmbo! Kind of sort of true, but low nontheless. Lol! Anyway, I also think she looks better because she’s not rocking a long colorful weave either. It’s nice not seeing the usual couples (i.e. Jay Z and Beyonce). Also, I’m not sure why Whiz & chic are featured. I thought Ebony Magazine was a celebration of all things black.

  2. i like the one with Bishop Jakes and his wife. I love to see them highlight black love and the different types of couples they have on there is great because they are from different walks of life but yet all are in the public light. i will be checking it out.

  3. This is really cool! Images of “black love!”…Diverse ones too…I love how the “why are so many black women single” noise has been toned down…images like these…Dwayne and LeBron with beautiful brown girls…Kerry Washington and Joy Bryant playing characters in interracial relationships…Aisha Tyler on The Talk…beauty, brains, a geek and married outside of her race…Garcelle showing men cheat regardless of color…we know it is propaganda…Hip Hop did show black men that they could be rich, powerful moguls and still date and marry black…a sista…the girl from around the way…LL, Snoop, Ice Cube…or a brotha like Michael Vick, paid his debt and kept it moving with a sista with his new 100 million dollar contract…Jay-z, Will, Denzel, Magic, Samuel Jackson, Ludicris and all the so-called BB Wives and others…images are powerful!!!…Brandy and Meagan wedding bliss imagery is just as important as their work…my younger sistas are going through a lot trying to love and be loved…we all need hope and to see positive images does help!

This is why you don’t see trailer park films (8 mile, Joe Dirt, ok), why many are enraged with Honey Boo Boo and just about every TV commercial is shot in million dollar + homes, to sell Bounty, Tide or Cable, so we will always believe they are better and live like the commercials, some do, most don’t! It’s important that “We” continue to showcase our own images! It’s textbook, the far-reaching effects of not doing so!
