Janet Jackson and Halle Berry are both due to be honored by Ebony Magazine at their Third Annual Pre-Oscar Celebration.The extravaganza is due to be held Thurday, February 22nd. at the Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood.The Ebony celebration honors African Americans who have made a difference in the world of music, film and television.Forest Whitaker and Herbie Hancock are also scheduled to be honored as well.
I don’t think the world has been changed by a thing Halle Berry ever did on film.That is a stretch indeed.Janet has set the standard for female entertainers but everybody else hasn’t imo made any huge impact in their field.

This is sho nuff the truth.Halle is a marginal actress and was annoited by White Hollywood as the go to Black actress even though she has very little acting skills.Plus anyone who watched Monster’s Ball knows that Halle’s character was a discgrace and she acted poorly in it.God bless her and blah, blah, blah, but her acting hasn’t upped the ante in her field at all much less changed the damn world.

I don’t think Halle Berry is worth a jealous bone in anyone’s body. Take away her sex appeal and what do you have? Unfortunately, the people who make these decisions are unable to differentiate between sex appeal and true talent.
I enjoy looking at Halle Berry because she is pretty. But I don’t recognize her as a true actress. Her acting reminds me of Beyonce in dreamgirls. She is good, but not great. There is a difference, you know?

I give Halle her props for doing her thing in hollywood as a black woman. But she is not a GREAT actress. Monsters Ball was horrible I felt like she should have won an oscar for Losing Isaiah rather than Monster’s Ball. I was disapointed in the role she had to play just to get an oscar. Sometimes looks can out weigh true talent.
I agree with you Steph.Not only was Halle not good in the movie but to be awarded an Oscar for such a disgusting role was actually unheard of in Oscar history.Never before had a female won an Oscar for doing soft core porn and yet that was the first Best Actress Oscar they gave to a sista.I tell you our ancestors were turning in their graves that night.

I am so glad that they are recognizing Janet Jackson and Halle, but mainly Janet Jackson because Janet set the trend for these artist today, move back Beyonce, get out of the way Ciera, Janet is still the one on top regardless of album sales or what, she has paid her dues to the music field. Ms. Janet Jackson is the most beautiful black female that I have ever seen before, and yes Tommy you are right, these ladies like Beyonce, Ciera, stole alot of Janet Jackson’s styles to make it big, and I have heard alot of people saying that if radio had not blacklisted Janet Jackson, she would be the one on top of the billboards because her album is excellent, These other artist can not even sale 7 million copies, this is what Ms. Janet Jackson used to do back in the day, you can tell that time has changed because album sales today are only like 2 million copies, only Justine Timberlake has sold like 4 million copies, so Miss Jackson has had her days of saling millions and millions of albums. They were trying to bring down a legend. Janet took all of this backlash gracefully. She is a legend to everyone that knows her. I have my money saved to go to her tour in 2007.
