Erykah, who just turned 41, was already in the country preparing for her performance in Kuula Lumpur when the country’s Information Minister, Rais Yatim, sent word to local officials that the singer should not be allowed to take the stage.
According to Yatim, the performance was shelved for “touching on religious sensitivities” and “failing to be in accord with Malaysian cultural values.”
The image in question (above), a promo shot from Erykah’s “New Amerykah” album, is actually years old and shows the singer wearing temporary body art.
