Erykah Badu: Honey
Stephanie on December 4, 2007 at 9:38 am (11 months, 3 weeks ago)
Eclectic soul singer Erykah Badu will mark her tenth year in the music industry by releasing her much anticipated album on February 26th, her birthday. The first single from the as yet untitled album is Honey and was co-written by Erykah herself and producer 9th. Wonder. “The music is the star,” says Erykah, “I just laid down my vocals and let the music breathe while the melodies tell the stories.” Most recently Erykah performed a Diana Ross Tribute on the BET Awards and the hit up the show Girlfriends where she received rave reviews. The highly regarded upcoming project will be Badu’s first full length album in 7 years.

I’m a fan of Erykah. “Mama’s Gun” is one of my favorite albums. Not really feeling this song, however. It seems more in the vein of the looser, less cohesive feeling of “Worldwide Underground”.
But I guess if I wanted Mama’s Gun Part 2… I should just go listen to the original.
Erykah’s one of the few artists I’ll support either way.
I will say, though, 10 years and we have 2 full length CD’s (not counting Live/WWU)… I wish I could work like that and make money.

I luv Erykah Badu. I always have. I like to put her music on while going on roadtrips and just chillin’. I like when people aren’t afraid to be different. She definately falls into that category. The new single is just OK though. I know she has to have a better single than that. That song just sounds like an album filler. It’s not worthy to be the single. I don’t buy CDs when the single isn’t even hot. Come again Erykah because a luke warm single = a luke warm album. Show me the hotness!! Lookin’ forward to hearing some more stuff. Give me a hit, and I’ll support your music.

I love Ms. Badu too. Because she is an orginal artist. And despite this song I will get her album. Because she has never had a bad one. And as far as he lady is who said she wish she could work like that if you had that talent you could. She is not like the artist out now who has to stay in front of the camera at all times so people won’t forget about them. She is the real deal.
Oh by the way Whitney Houston gave a great performance at her coming back concert December 1,2007. It seems like so many blogs gave a play by play of her fall but now that she is getting back on her feet you don’t hear anything.

I love E, too. Although I have been disappointed as of late with my fellow Dallas homegirl, not because of her music, but work ethic.
She is always notoriously late at her shows (1 - 2 hours on average), even though she will stay until there are only 10 people left. Her tickets have gotten really high given the small collection of music she has.
But what can I say, I love her nonetheless. The girl has talent (even if she is a little off). Will buy Nu AmErykah for me and all my friends.
