  1. We need Alicia and her soulful sound now more than ever. Why has she been gone so long? I hear she has filmed about three movies. I hope she doesn’t take too much more time off. She may try and come back and find their is no room left for her anymore. The music game is changing daily.

  2. I need some AKeys and some Jill Scott (who is divorcing her husband Lyzell – imagine what this new CD will sound like after this) – in my life right now. I am very much missing that old R&B soul music. I am chilling wiht Tamia now though – that girl is tough! :brownsista:

  3. I love this Sista so much! She’s a Bowl full of Talent, and Beauty. Plus I love the fact that she’s giving back to the community too. Help children go to college is WONDERFUL! I can’t wait until she comes out with her new CD!!!!!! 🙂 🙂

  4. KSH, I am feeling you on that Tamia. Not many people know how soulful and powerful her voice is. And man can she perform live. I can’ wait for Alicia Keys to come back out. I am like literally waiting (I feel like a kid counting the days before christmas 😆 ). I like her b/c she is comfortable with herself and her music. She’s not all over the place with it. Stay true Alicia

  5. Alicia is strong, you have to be strong in this day and age to not let the industry make you and stay true to yourself. She’s one of those artists who don’t rush to make albums (like Jill Scott and India.Arie) and that’s totally admirable, especially (again) IN THIS DAY AND AGE. She’s a class act, she’s not just beauty she’s smart and wise, she’s a woman of convinction. Compared to most artists of our generation, that woman is on a whole ‘nother level individually, spiritually, musically and politically. Keep doing it Alicia!!

  6. Alicia is so beautiful and she’s always doing something to help others in need. I can’t wait to buy her album. :brownsista:

  7. Alicia is pretty but she doesn’t flaunt that beauty and that makes other women feel comfortable with her. If Alicia was sexier and vamped it up a bit women would hate her as much as they have hated Mariah Carey and Beyonce over the years.

Yeah we’ll they have to deal with their own insecurities. And I never heard of women hating Beyonce and Mariah but if they did then they are absolutly pathedetic. Anyway there are women that don’t have to flaunt nothing because their so beautiful but still intimidates other women and they can be the one of the nicest people in the world. Like me for example :brownsista:

I respectfully disagree. Nobody’s hating on Halle Berry and she’s always showed skin. Nicole Scherzinger gets no hate. Women never dissed JLo’s body. People got mad at Mariah for acting like a bimbo when she used to be a Diva, same for Toni Braxton, and Janet was considered too immature for a 40 year old woman. I think they pissed of their respective original audiences (I mean understand them, fans of Kim have always been used to her and loved her for that image, avid fans who identify themselves to Toni and MC loved them as Divas partly for their image and got confused cause those songstresses went from Divas to Skrippas). Madonna pissed off her original audience too, but for the opposite reason, she’s now TOO WISE to them. So it has more to do with confusing and pissing off your original audience.

As for Beyonce the dislike has more to do with a combination of the DC drama and the “Nasty Girl/Christianity” preaching and then seeing the evolution of her image after that than anything else. I’m not saying we’re not sinners, cause we’re no better than her, just explaining the situation. People got confused and pissed.

And some women are not necessarily intimidated, they actually feel bad for women showing too much cause they think that flaunting too much is an indication that you’re seeking praise, validation and attention to stroke your ego because of your low self-esteem and not necessarily empowerment (I don’t think women who flaunt it in videos think they’re all that deep down inside, I don’t think Karrine Stefans and Lil Kim ever thought they were all that), so the “showing skin” thing is all a matter of perception, it doesn’t always mean jealousy, envy and intimidation.
