fall forward.

Sistas.

Sometimes. Just sometimes. We sit back and wait for life to hand us a lifeline. We wait for those flat abs, Mega-Millions, to lose those 20lbs, and for our man to pop the question. We sit on the sidelines waiting while we watch the players of life continually score and we forget to dream with our eyes open. Before you know it we’re on the fast track to Pretendsville: living a dull, boring, and pretty much routine existence.

Most of us yearn for a life that is sweeter; so Fall forward and create an inspiration board. An inspiration board, sometimes called a mood board or vision board, is a self-created haven where you can throw ideas and pictures of what you feel best represents who you are and where you’d like to go. It’s a chance to take those ideas that are floating around in your head and give them a face. So unless you are a fan of making things harder than they need to be an inspiration board can work wonders for your hearts dreams and desires and help to deactivate your procrastination.

This is a no fail, win-win activity and my word is bond they make life easier to visualize and dreams that much more touchable. To see some sample vision boards leap on over to the Get Togetha Blog.

Curently GT is inspired by your comments, Michelle and Barack Obama, Gardenia fragrance, candles, soap, traveling to Paris, high threadcount bedsheets, and Chrisette Michelle.

Raise your hand. What inspires you?

  1. Lovely and very timely, GT. I was thinking about making one of these–I have one mentally, but not a physical board that I can look at. It’s a fabulous idea!

    Currently, Maglet is inspired by:

    1. Happy, positive people
    2. Fall sweaters
    3. generosity
    4. my happy children
    5. my gray boots
    6. our trees
    7. my future

There are more, but that’s just off the top of my head. I think I’m going to repost my choices on my blog–this is so positive, everyone should at least think about it if they aren’t already. 🙂

  14. What inspires me:

Barack Obama, knowledge/intelligence, positivity, babies, strong women (especially Black women), and love.

I’ve heard of an inspirational board, but have never made one for myself. I guess I would need to be inspired to do one. I would like to do a vision board because I am at a crossroads in my life. Starting a family with my husband or getting my Master’s. My heart and mind are being pulled in both directions and I don’t know which path to take. I want to accomplish both of them, I am struggling about which should come first. I wouldn’t want to put that pressure on myself to try to accomplish both at the same time.

  17. Today I saw a speech by presidential Candidate [Of the Green Party] Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and I’m inspired by her. The speech is made during Ron Paul’s National Press Club conference. It was an historical even, for several alternate presidential candidates came together, and they AGREE on 4 key issues that every American citizens SHOULD consider this November & in every election. The 4 key issues they agree on are [The statement reads “We agree”]:

FOREIGN POLICY: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region. We must initiate the return of our soldiers from around the world, including Korea, Japan, Europe and the entire Middle East. We must cease the war propaganda, threats of a blockade and plans for attacks on Iran, nor should we re-ignite the cold war with Russia over Georgia. We must be willing to talk to all countries and offer friendship and trade and travel to all who are willing. We must take off the table the threat of a nuclear first strike against all nations.

PRIVACY: We must protect the privacy and civil liberties of all persons under US jurisdiction. We must repeal or radically change the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the FISA legislation. We must reject the notion and practice of torture, eliminations of habeas corpus, secret tribunals, and secret prisons. We must deny immunity for corporations that spy willingly on the people for the benefit of the government. We must reject the unitary presidency, the illegal use of signing statements and excessive use of executive orders.

THE NATIONAL DEBT: We believe that there should be no increase in the national debt. The burden of debt placed on the next generation is unjust and already threatening our economy and the value of our dollar. We must pay our bills as we go along and not unfairly place this burden on a future generation.

THE FEDERAL RESERVE: We seek a thorough investigation, evaluation and audit of the Federal Reserve System and its cozy relationships with the banking, corporate, and other financial institutions. The arbitrary power to create money and credit out of thin air behind closed doors for the benefit of commercial interests must be ended. There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies. Corporations should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.

Both Barack Obama and McCain are NOT addressing these issues.

How many of you have heard about Cynthia McKinney? If you have not heard about her, What is your excuse???

If I’m not mistaken, she is the FIRST Black woman to be a presidential candidate NOMINEE in United States’ history. Now tell me again why have you not heard about her? Stephanie, you occasionally report on Barack Obama and his wife. Why did you choose not to extend this curtesie to United States’ 1st Black woman presidential candidate nominee??? She is more about change then Obama. Look at these issues she agrees on, and check how Obama feels about them; then, tell me who is TRULY about change.

  18. MY inspiration comes from Everything and Nothing at the time I definitely doesn’t see any celebrity as an inspiration I passed the age :),

I do have a lot of respect and love for my mother because a mother is unique and The adage that says you can tell a lot from a man by the way he treats his mother apply for women as well,

I also Love books , and citation , I can always tell a story of my life by a sentence, and quote from a book

I love barack Obama and his clan, I love the fact that he keeps on fighting Thought the people he fights for are so ungrateful and are the first one to take jabs at him when the opportunity knocks

Idk what else 🙂 for now that’s all i can think of
