First Day Back to School

Because my daughter looked so fierce on her first day back to school, I have decided to give her what she has been begging for since 2006… her own post on Brown Sista.

Here’s hoping a big Hollywood scout sees her photo and offers her the chance of lifetime she’s been dreaming about since she was 12 years old.

… and because she considers herself the ultimate fashionista, here is a bit of info about what she is wearing.

Peach Jacket: Conways $15.99
Beige T-Shirt: Conways $2.99
Flowered Jeans: Pretty Girl $19.99
Beige Flats: Easy Pickins $11.99
Brown Bag: The $15 Store $15.00

My baby stretched the hell outta her $300 back-to-school clothes budget.

LOL

  1. OMG, my daughter’s obsessed with Tika now because all her friends have told her the same thing.

I don’t see it though. Maybe I’m biased, but I think my daughter is so much cuter 😆

  2. OMG those stores you listed are on every “broadway” or “downtown” in every urban area.

what i love is that she doesnt look “hood, ghetto etc”

    she looks great!

and as a young woman who makes a good living as an engineer but also has seen the effects of this economy…i have learned to pair high ticket items with items from such stores as Rainbows, Dots, and still look fresh.

godbless the sensable child you raised! i hope to do the same one day.

  3. Awww! She’s so lovely and her outfit is so sassy. You all should have featured this in those “Fashionista” sections of the page and not that tragic urban look Keyshia Cole was sporting. lol

Anyway, kudos to you and your beautiful daughter and may her grades be just as fierce as her look! =)

  4. @GIRL Her grades are excellent. She is a writer, an awesome poet and wants to take up communications is college.

@LIVERPOOL You are so right. Conways and all those stores are a staples in urban areas. We live in the Bronx and you can always find a good deal here.

I taught my daughter how to stretch a dollar and she has become a master at it.

  5. aw SISTA thanks for sharing! your daughter is so lovely and I agree with the Tika Sumpter favoring. I love her bag! I love those pants, even. Reminds me of Molly Ringwald’s wardrobe in Pretty in Pink!!! I hope she has an awesome and fabulous school year! 🙂

  6. Sista, she’s beautiful!!! I love her look…she should look into hair care product companies and do hair shows, commercials (McDonald’s, clothing catalogues)…acting…she has a great look! I wish her much success and a great agency or scout picks her up and they should!!!

  7. awwww. She seems like such a smart girl. Not many people her age know that you can get so much for your money. Aww she is so pretty too. I love it.

  8. Why did this just make me tear up! It’s nothing like the support of a mother! Especially when the mother is looked at as inspiration and our daughters want nothing more than to follow in a good mother’s footsteps. @Sista your daughter is beyond beautiful! I love that you have shared this with us! And yes she does look fierce!
