Did You Watch For Better or Worse?

Did you guys watch Tyler Perry’s latest TBS comedy “For Better or Worse” when it aired this past (Nov. 25) Friday night? I caught the beginning, the end, but missed quite a bit of the middle. While turning during a commercial break, I believe I ran across “The Devil Wears Prada” and totally forgot about it. By the time I remembered and turned back half the show was over and I was a bit underwhelmed.

The fight between Angela and Keisha caused me to turn in the first place. Between watching two grown ass women fight over a man and the overall cartoon-ish nature of the show, I was ready to call it a night pretty early on.

Despite my overall disappointment in the first episode, I like and support Tyler Perry and will give “For Better or Worse” another chance next week. Unlike Tyler’s last two TBS shows, “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns,” ‘FBOW’ is marketed as an urban grown and sexy dramady, which I think is much needed on network television.

Hopefully as the season progresses the shenanigans will taper off and give way to quality acting and killer story lines.

So that’s my take on the show so far- what’s yours?

  1. I thought it sucked. Tyler Perry sitcoms just don’t do it for me.

  2. i agree too. tasha’s smith voice is just annoying. and the screaming, god!!!

  3. The opening was way to Ghetto and after Tasha (hollaring Marcus, and the little girl it was a done deal. I will not watch this any more it was just to stupid. I expected way more the other shows I like and far as I’m concern Meet the Browns is silly enough for me. There is nothing “GROWN” about this show.. Ghetto nothing more!

  4. I didnt even know that it had premiered. I was watching Devil Wears Prada. I want to support Tyler and the black actors that he is putting to work, so I will leave the tv on that channel (in case my tv is being monitored by Neilsons) but I am not sure I cann deal with anymore foolishness from black folks on tv. The sports ex-wives and baby mama’s and the exhousewives and never been anybody’s wife series on Bravo has pretty much done me in. I think I will stick to classic tv and promote new black shows with the tv on and me off somewhere else doing what I like. LOL!

  5. I think I will stick with “Blue Bloods”. I was trying to give Tyler a chance but that show sucked.

  6. I didnt , Tyler Perry us not doing it for me , he hasnt since the family that preys, Also this whole black folks uplifting sh@ t is getting in my nerves, if your opinion differ from Someone than you tearing such and such down, crabs and something about a barrel, WTF? I support what I like, love, identify with, not how black said things are … If you don’t like Tyler Perry , his movies are anything else ” black” than don’t! I’m not mad …
Ps: black people are ghetto, get ghetto, can be ghetto , that is just how Afro Americans do, Tyler is not lying, or making this up… Maybe that’s a problem , people want him to lie, cover and sugar coat….

  7. You know Collector’s Shop, I think you’re right. No as a matter of fact I know you’re right. Black folks don’t like to see their true selves on tv nor the big scene. I think this should tell black folks something. If you don’t want to see ignorance put out there on tv/movies about you, then don’t do in public for the world to see. What black folks fail to realize is we are all being watch at all times. I’ve run up on so many loud, rude, disrespectful black folks out here so bad its to a point I’m literally ashamed of my own people. Sometimes I see why rich blacks cater MORE to whites.

  8. yep @teetee and collector’s shop because whether u like it or not it is relatable and NOT JUST IN OUR RACE either…but It does set a story line that could progress just by observing all the so called ghetto ignorance that maybe can be turned into a better way of communicating and handling similar situations that happens amongst grown folks at the end of the day! Ignorance can also be a clouded perception of one’s truth that won’t allow the mind to see any positivity when its actually some there!!! P.S. FAIL to all the high n’ mighty’ blogging because guess what that horrific sitcom READ Between the LINES is AWFUL and with all that dignity, its sad nobody will watch because of lazy, poor. unoriginal writing.

  10. Tyler Perry and all the actor’s involved must have really needed some money to put this ratchiness on air. Tyler Perry needs to step his game up from the foolishness he keeps putting out. What happen to all the other black film makers that use to put great movies out in the 90’s. It’s like they just disappeared. This is enough already.

  11. Tyler Perry shows, movies, etc. Always has a winner and loser. Black woman vs Black man. Its so redundant.

  12. I go to the On-Demand station for TBS on my cable box and out of the FOUR SHOWS on TBS, THREE are TYLER PERRY PRODUCTIONS.

I’d say (with bad grammar) that TYLER PERRY’S GAME done been stepped up! He OWNS that on-demand station! LOL.

With that said, I did not watch “For Better or Worse” nor do I have any intention of watching it.
