Fox Orders New Drama Starring Angela Bassett
Angela Bassett is coming to Fox. According to published reports, the American Horror Story actress will be teaming up with the show’s producers, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, for a new series titled 911. The as yet unannounced show will reportedly be unveiled at the network’s Upfront event next week and debut as a mid-season replacement in early 2018.
911 will reportedly be in the vein of ER, and revolve around a group of 911 operators. Bassett will star in and executive produce the series, while Falchuk and Murphy will take on production and writing duties.
This is the third series from Murphy Fox has ordered straight to series, the previous two being Glee and the soon-to-be-canceled Scream Queens.
Murphy recently spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about his longstanding relationship with Bassett, calling her one of the “greatest talents” he’s ever worked with. Angela has starred in four iterations of Ryan’s American Horror Story series, including Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and Roanoke.
