Fox’s ‘Empire’ Continues to Grow

EMPIRE RISES IN ITS FOURTH WEEK

There appears to be no stopping Fox’s freshman hip-hop drama “Empire.” After becoming the first show in over 20 years to post gains for three straight weeks, the show tops itself by once again rising to new heights in terms of viewership and demo.

According to Nielsen ratings, last night’s episode pulled in an impressive 11.47 million viewers and an even more impressive 4.6 in the advertiser coveted demographic of viewers age 18-49.

Taraji P. Henson, who stars as Cookie Lyons, is credited with much of the show’s success and recently told fans the role of Cookie was a dream come true, and one she almost passed up on.

Taraji says she wasn’t looking to do TV again after her role on “Person of Interest” wrapped up, but said she couldn’t pass on the opportunity after Lee Daniels himself requested she be a part of the project.

“Empire” returns next week and in an unprecedented move by the Fox, the show’s remaining episodes will all run with limited commercial interruptions. Check out photos from next week’s episode titled “Out Damned Spot,” which features a guest appearance by “Sparkle” actor Derek Luke.
